Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. My son's 30 and if he needs to wear a tie, I do it for him. We had to wear ties for many years while I worked. Now, I avoid them as much as I can.
  2. Well I don't wear corduroys or have silk long johns, so I'll just have to get by.
  3. Jeans are warmer in colder weather so I will have jeans with me for the Christmas Rhine cruise. I'm happy to see that they are ok for dinner so I can do the dinner, then next day thing. Personally I don't watch what other people wear. None of my business. As long as they are clean and don't smell (be cause that would affect me) do your thing.
  4. Appreciate the answers. I'm not looking for the menus for any reason than adding to our anticipation. For ocean cruises on the big lines the daily menus are regularly available. We'd just like to see the daily menu for the Rhine cruise for the fun of it.
  5. Thanks for the info. Now I just need someone who has done the Basel to Amsterdam cruise and has lots of pics.
  6. We'll be on a 2024 Rhine River Christmas Market cruise. Basel to Amsterdam. Does anyone have pics of a recent Rhine Cruise on Viking? Would the Christmas Market cruise likely have different menus than other times of the year? Just curious to have an idea of what they'll be serving.
  7. Another question. Our cruise leaves Basel on Dec 16. Our itinerary has us flying from home (Charlotte, NC) on the 15th, arriving on the 16th. If we'd prefer to travel a day early so that we can check out the Basel market at night, is there a way to notify Viking on line or do I need to contact someone before they make final arrangements in Sept?
  8. Thanks but the invoice only lists the ports not the time in port.
  9. Already booked for Dec 2024. How long do the ships generally stay in each port. Looking for past experience as apparently Viking doesn't publish times.
  10. How can you tell in advance (like now, as we've just booked a river cruise) which wines on the lists are "Treasure" wines and not included in the SSP?
  11. Have Carnivals ships been able to make stops at their islands recently that require tenders? I've heard that a number of cruises have not been able to make the stop due to rough seas. If they don't stop what do they typically do?
  12. You've all been so helpful. I do have a couple more questions. As I said earlier, it's been a long time since we cruised out of Charleston. We plan to drive there (from Charlotte) the day before. How is parking at the cruise terminal? I believe I read it's free with a handicap tag? My wife has one for her back. How is the terminal for check-in and embarking? Any suggestion on best times to get there? What time you can board? How long until you can drop carry-ons in room? OK, that's more than a couple questions.
