  1. The process is not as simplistic as you may think it should be. You can be sure “pending” and “holds” will fall off your account. Most consumers have never seen these entries before “real time account availability” became a technological norm. The went in and fell off before the consumer would ever see them. Unless it becomes a firmly posted charge there is nothing to dispute or “talk to a live person” about - with either the merchant or your credit card company.
  2. This will be the problem no matter how the debarkation process is tweaked. You can only do so much to alter the mindset of the cluelessly entitled (that is unless a physical restraint system is approved and implemented).
  3. Your guess would be correct. As has been said, embarkation snafus can really put a damper on that overriding desire to get a vacation started as soon as possible. If embarkation goes smoothly, you’ve accomplished your goal. If it goes haywire, you’ve started tour vacation miserably. Although it may be a hard mindset to break, I did and found my vacation starts as soon as I board… much later in the day (after the desperados corral up and wait) when I can breeze though registration, saunter on board, go to my stateroom and then head off to the fun. Everyone is different and has different objectives, tolerances and motivation. Consider all sides and then do what feels right for you to have a fantastic cruise right out of the gate.
  4. These kind of posters are so easy to trip up on their own weak attempts at “ding dong dash”. After the first trip, I’m surprised they came back only to fall flat on their face. It does make for humorous reading within a lament thread about a company maximizing its profits in a time when every penny counts. One should never forget that while every customer is important, those that can afford premium prices are more important.
  5. My top choice would be 2301 or 2298, but those are 4 person cabins. For 2 people I would recommend 2305 or 2302. The last 3 coves, 2306, 2309, 2308, 2315, 2310, 2317 may have noise from what appears to be some sort of vent.
  6. Another rant from someone who wants something they aren’t entitled to based on their own short-sighted prior decisions that bound them to something uncertain in the future. .... or am I missing something where they should now get a refund for something they committed to as non-refundable?
  7. You certainly discovered how to turn what was thought to be a negative into a positive. Hold on to your new outlook!! 😀
  8. Poodle cooking? Urban myth. https://everything2.com/title/Do+not+put+pets+in+the+microwave+to+dry+them Some people still think everything on the internet is 100% true. 🙄
  9. Good to know that if they decline your medical exemption for wearing a mask during a pandemic, it won’t be a deal breaker for you to still cruise knowing you may be required to wear one.
  10. If you want a fully refundable deposit, you’re going to pay for it - dearly. At least they spun it as an equivalent discount for taking non-refundable.
  11. Interesting that $100 (or $250 for a longer sailing) would be enough motivation for you to walk away (or stay put). I’m sure the Carnival staff reading the opines of people with the liquidity to hold 100 shares of stock threatening to take their business elsewhere if the benefit is discontinued have finely tuned reading comprehension skills.
  12. Would it make you unhappy enough to be one of those loyal customers who bails, dooming the company to failure?
  13. The better question is how is/are Carnival or passengers harmed from this?
  14. not all of them: https://www.cruisemapper.com/deckplans/Carnival-Celebration-2106/deck11-7220
  15. I do the same to people who think it’s acceptable to have loud cellphone conversations in public. Sometimes they’ll interrupt their conversation to give me the stinkeye. I am simply equally as vocal in expressing how fascinating their conversation is and how appreciative I am to get to listen to it. Same goes for those who meander the aisles at stores conversing at top volume into their cellphones while they pick through the shelves. I follow them with an intent listening ear since they seem to be fine yammering about in public while thinking everyone else should avoid them. People who do this will continue to do so if others are simply too afraid to calmly and reasonably address the poor behavior.
  16. Please elaborate on the "new" cancellation fee policies that are different than the "old" cancellation policies for refundable fares. It would seem that many are surprised by this purported change in policy.
  17. You don’t get credit/refund of promo OBC obtained with original booking (whether from Carnival or TA) only to get another round when when (if) you rebook if offered at time of rebooking. The logic of why should be abundantly clear.
  18. Far too much “assuming”, “potentially”, “estimating” and “likely” to put any stock in the article.
  19. How long will they hold that booking without a deposit given it could be an indeterminate time to get the FCC issued?
