  1. @Kindergirl did you see this on the cruise Critic Facebook page?
  2. From HAL’s Facebook page just now: UPDATE - March 27, 9:45AM PT/12:45PM ET: Zaandam is currently off the coast of Panama and rendezvoused with sister ship Rotterdam at 7:30 p.m. local time yesterday, March 26. We received approval from Panamanian authorities to conduct ship-to-ship operations at anchor between the two vessels. Medical supplies and additional medical staff were transferred to Zaandam. Today we announced a plan to transfer groups of healthy Zaandam guests to Rotterdam, with strict protocols for this process developed in conjunction with the U.S. Centers for Disease
  3. Just now from HAL’s Facebook page: UPDATE March 24 (11:20am PT/2:20pm ET): As all ports along Zaandam’s route are closed to cruise ships, Holland America Line has deployed Rotterdam to rendezvous with Zaandam and provide extra supplies, staff, COVID-19 test kits and other support as needed. Carrying 611 crew and no guests, Rotterdam departed Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, at 3 p.m. local time on March 22 and the current schedule is for the two ships to meet by the evening of March 26 off the coast of Panama. Our intention is to proceed to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for arrival on March 30,
  4. @rslinky yes from Pigeon Forge but a gift from my son when he and his family vacationed there last fall. It’s TOO good!
  5. Saw your video on Facebook...so glad for the happy ending and this evening’s camaraderie on this thread!
  6. My choice...hard to photograph but in a HAL souvenir glass.
  7. @rjbean4 Gov. Desantis on the news now and he is opposed to a shelter in place. He is planning airport screening and mandatory 14 day self quarantine for folks flying into Florida from NY and NJ. Btw, I think we are neighbors...we’re in PH too and get the TPA planes approaching overhead. Thanks for your informative posts here!
  8. Posted minutes ago on HAL Facebook page: UPDATE: March 22 (1:45pm PT/4:45pm ET): This morning aboard Zaandam, 13 guests and 29 crew reported to the ship’s medical center with influenza-like symptoms. Out of an abundance of caution, we have now asked all guests to remain in their staterooms until we have more information. There are 1,243 guests and 586 crew on board. Zaandam is following the response protocols that have been developed in coordination with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Since it is flu season, and COVID-19 testing is not available on board,
  9. Our trip to the fjords in Norway in 2017 celebrating our 40th anniversary. We loved the Koningsdam and had planned to return to Alaska on her in late June...maybe next year!
  10. I’m so enjoying following this heartwarming tale. @Copper10-8 if you can please take a photo with @Kindergirl‘s folks to post here! You’re a true gentleman!
  11. From HAL’s Facebook page: UPDATE (3 p.m. PT/6 p.m.ET): Despite a positive outlook for disembarking Zaandam guests today at Punta Arenas, Chile, we were not allowed to do so by local authorities. Therefore, the ship departed the port this evening and is now en route to San Antonio, Chile, for a service call to take on fuel and other provisions. Our Seattle headquarters and the ship are working with several governments and embassies on options for where to disembark guests. We know guests and their families are awaiting answers, and we will communicate them as soon as arrangements are
  12. The Florida governor just said on a news conference that the deceased person’s test results came back negative and the remaining passengers were being allowed to disembark.
  13. This was posted on HAL’s Facebook page an hour ago: In order to give travelers greater peace of mind surrounding their upcoming vacation plans, Holland America Line is extending our Short Term Cancel Policy for cruises or Alaska Land+Sea Journeys departing through July 31, 2020 (previously only through May 31 departures). Get full details here >> http://*****/2Q84aGP
  14. Our final payment with HAL’s Platinum Plan Included is set to be charged to our credit card in one week. My understanding is that once you pay the fee for the Plan, no matter what you don’t get it back. After reading to him that HAL is now extending their new cancellation policy to cruises leaving thru July 31 (that included us), husband is sure that should HAL cancel our cruise to Alaska and give us a FCC for it that they would also roll over the insurance to that future cruise. I don’t believe that is the case. Opinions?
  15. Just now on HAL’s Facebook page: Holland America Line stands by the difficult decision of our sister-brand Princess Cruises to suspend their cruise operations. However, our cruises remain fully operational. We want to assure our guests that we are closely monitoring the global updates and changes. If and when changes need to be made, we will communicate with all affected guests. We also appreciate your patience as we experience an exceptional volume of calls. We continue to prioritize guests who are currently sailing or due to depart in the next week. Thank you for your continued loyalty
