Loved Into the Midnight Sun… Fascinated by the light even after midnight. Had trouble closing the blinds to sleep! I have always booked my own air and hotels if extending my trip. Bit of a control freak and prefer to book my preferred airlines and shorter but just long enough layovers if need be. I may be leaving money on the table, but don’t have to worry… I love Viking… Think you will too..

Other than being eligible for a transfer to/from the ship, what are the advantages to booking with Viking other than booking direct with the airlines and choosing the best itinerary, esp. if you are adding time on either end of the cruise again on your own so you can choose your hotel and location? Are flights that much less expensive? I’ve always booked my own and wonder if that’s best. I also require extra legroom.. Thanks…

IMHO, Florence for as much time as you can find. So much to see. You cant do it in one day, but its a start. Such a special city. Its a museum with multiple museums inside. Pisa is more than just the Leaning Tower, but I personally prefer Lucca. Like a small version of Florence. You can walk on top of the walls, its a busy commercial town with great architecture and food. We have a stop in Nov. and that is our plan. I've been to Florence a number of times and while I love it, prefer not to spend several hours of my day in a bus...
