  1. Looking for hints about navigating the decks. We are old and looking to prepare ahead of time since we are slow on the uptake.

What decks can't you cross through?

    What elevators are the quickest?

What was annoying about getting around!

And any other hint you would love to know before you go!!

  2. No I have not sailed on any MSC's ship - but I am tempted to do so by their lower than RCI and/or Celebrity prices.

I have been sailing with RCI for many years and I and wife have a D plus with them in their C&A.

We also sailed on Celebrity's ships for many years as well and have the Elite in their Captain's Club.

I did apply for the match based on the D plus.

I do want to try the MSC but I am not sure what to expect on their shipst, so I am not too comfortable booking ( in this case the Fantasis) for a med sailing.

We too haD concerns about booking MSC, but we did. We travel mostly Crystal and some Oceania. One thousand passenger ships. We were looking for a cheaper short getaway. We booked Divina in January and took the Yacht Club. We are going with an open mind about the crowds and will enjoy it whatever!

  3. We were on the Marina 2 yrs ago and had the wine pkg for meals only. We could have wine at any venue that was serving meals. That means you you can have lunch in the main dining room and still have wine at the buffet and at the grill. The only time is when outdoor grill closes and dinner has not begun. We could also have room wine as long as some form of dining was open. I don't know if the room service is still valid.

  4. First time cruising with MSC have paid for the bar and restaurant unlimited drink package. Some of it is quite simple to understand, but how will I know which cocktails are included, are virgin cocktails included, is Baileys included. What about coffee is it only hot cofffees. Thank you your replies

  5. If MSC upgrades your cabin without charge then you only receive the 'Experience' you booked. However, it seems in this instance, the upgrade was paid for (at a very attractive price by the sounds of it) so the benefits would be included.

That's great and well worth it!,,

  6. No, it's not their responsibility to call and get it resolved--that's your responsibility. The employee was not wrong. I wouldn't take a photo of a cc either.

I thought it would be a good idea if I photo'd my credit card, SS card, etc. VISA notified me before the trip that I was ok to use my card out of town since I charged my airline tickets. I did have the actual cards with me. Photo not a good idea. Next a Facebook message appeared and wanted to know if I wanted a slide show of my latest photos to be posted and before me pics of my cards etc were put to music. I immediately deleted the photos but I would exposed credit cards etc. Beware!

  7. This will be my third Tauck River cruise and I have to comment on the fact that the don't send the docs in a nice folder. My travel agent mails them to me in a plain envelope. Seems a little chintzy for luxury cruise.

  8. We booked Tauck for the same itinerary. We looked at Uniworld and AMA. I would not book Crystal yet. Let them get their act together for a year or two

Our research led us to believe Tauck would be the best fit for us. I've never met anyone who has not raved about Tauck river cruises.

We were on two Tauck river cruises. The latest was Sept of this year. The only other one was Avalon but that was 13 yrs ago and times have changed in the river boat explosion . Tauck k is great. Everything is included. They carry 125 passengers vs 170 on other ships the same size. Never crowded. We are even booked for next September on the Rhone. Ask away if you want further info.

  9. We always use the strap just in case the zipper fails for some reason. Has never happened but the thought that when you pack to go home and your zipper breaks!!, also pack a large plastic bag for the same reason. At least nothing will spill out if it's just held by a strap. Simple precautions.

  10. Passenger mix: Frequent Tauck cruisers, Trip of a life time cruisers, Anniversary cruisers. Everyone should feel comfortable.

    Hotel: Great.

Dining: Went to Santa Lucia. Had great pizza. Different and better than American. Many restaurants on this strip. Nice outdoor cafes but this is the smoking area and it was overwhelming. We opted to eat inside but the weather was beautiful and would have preferred outdoors.

Food on Board: Very good but small portions which was good. I usually don't eat the bread or dessert but could have the entire menu without guilt due to portions size. Something for everyone even if the choices were not to your liking.

Day 2 and 3: Went to Jungfraujoch. and then Lucerne. Both great.

    Really nothing to complain about.

Inspire: Beautiful venue. We had cabin 109 and loved it. The storage was over the top. Bring your makeup mirror as the one provided didn't really measure up.
