  1. @Daisi...the changing of the leaves has come earlier than expected. I have been researching other tours offered in Canada. I will have to make a decision by Christmas if I'm going on the Tulip Time cruise in April 2021. I say by Christmas because that is when I usually book my flights. Have you researched the Canadian tours through Cosmos and/or Globus?
  2. I too am concerned about my April 2021 cruise. If travellers have to quarantine for 14 days, that will be a no go. Thanks Daisi for your post. I will look into the train through the Rockies trip.
  3. I did not request my deposit back. My travel agent, a few days before Avalon came out and said they were cancelling the May cruises, booked me on a cruise with them in April 2021. I heard from my TA last week Avalon is transferring my full payment for the 2020 cruise to my 2021 cruise.

  5. This information is not on the Canadian website. I suspect it is just a matter of time when Avalon will update the Canadian website.
  6. My travel agent called me today. I am so glad she called, she knew I would be stressing over my May 6th Tulip Time cruise. She called Avalon, and although they say they are only working on re-scheduling/cancelling cruises up to April 30th, Avalon did transfer my cruise to the week of April 23, 2021. Once less thing to stress about.
  7. I'm on Air Canada. Forget trying to get in touch with them. I did check my insurance and they cover pandemics. I may be able to get all my money back! Keeping my fingers and toes crossed.

I would like to change my cruise to next year but the airline I'm booked on for May 4th is only allowing a one time change fee for flights booked up to April 30th and then they want you to travel before December 31, 2020. I won't be travelling anywhere else this year and therefore I will probably have to cancel the flight and hope the insurance will cover it.
  9. This uncertainty and the stock market volatility is too much to handle. I need a G&T. LOL
  10. The Avalon "Peace of Mind" travel plan only applies to those cruises booked up to April 30, 2020. If I read the release correctly. That leaves me with no peace of mind. My cruise is scheduled for May 6th, with departure from Canada on May 4th. Air Canada is offering to waive a change fee for only flights scheduled to take off by April 30th. Yes I have taken out trip interruption/cancellation insurance, but I would only get a refund on the cruise price once Avalon cancels the cruise. I guess those of us scheduled for May cruises have to wait a bit longer to find out whether we are going on vacation or not. ARGH!!! LOL
  11. My Tulip Time cruise if 5/4. We're all playing the waiting game. Will the Netherlands cease all travel in and out of the country? Will the airline cancel flights? Will Avalon cancel the cruise? I'm going on my cruise unless I hear one or all three have occurred.
  12. Kenster and notamermaid: Thank you for your comments. Hopefully in May there won't be able problems with the river we're sailing on.
  13. Reading more about river cruising one problem that can occur is the height, or lack thereof, of the river. I read on the Avalon FAQ's if there is a problem with the river level they will transport the passengers to the next port of call via bus. Has anyone experienced a situation where the river level for the entire cruise is too high or too low and the cruise has been cancelled mid-cruise?
  14. Thank you for all your responses to my inquiry on the arrival and departure times in the ports of call. I will research the ports and if there is anything of interest I'll add to my "wish list".
  15. YoungDubFan, I was wondering why on the itinerary there are no arrival and departure times (except for embarkation day) as I was trying to decide what to do/see on my own time. I take it from your comment that there is no set arrival and departure times at the ports of call, is that correct?
