  1. The lady is saying that two pax tested positive, so two couples removed from the ship. She also says that the P&O Care Team has been very good so far.
  2. The general assumption is that this is in response to Covid and that that it will revert back to 'normal' post-pandemic, whenever that may be. I sincerely hope it is before I sail on Arcadia next summer.
  3. So you need to complete a Health Control form when arriving in Spain by air or ferry but not when on a cruise then...🤔
  4. They have my sympathy, as someone who sometimes struggles doing new things online and hates having to do so on the phone...
  5. Would have been a nice gesture by P&O to allow free internet access to the Gov.uk website...
  6. Traditionally, white dinner jackets were worn when in the Tropics. I choose to wear mine when in hot climes - but not with a black shirt - and when possible on Black & White night.
  7. Sadly, I haven't yet sailed with HAL but would like to. I would suggest it is very risky for you to book a World Cruise on P&O without trying a shorter one first. The service-style on British lines is very different to that on American ones and the response to any issues of concern leaves a lot to be desired. Food and entertainment is also very much geared to British tastes.
  8. Sadly not the first time that it has appeared that P&O's left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing - and no doubt won't be the last...
  9. Vaccine supply problems in my area too. One independent chemists said this morning that they don't know when they are getting stock and Boots said at least a month...
  10. I'm off to Spain in the foreseeable future too and must say that I'm finding all these extra hoops somewhat stress-inducing...
  11. One of the benefits of Aurora is that even the inside cabins all have a small sofa - although of course, I appreciate she is seldom in the Caribbean these days. When sailing solo I would be happy with an inside cabin anywhere in the world.
  12. But it also seems that the general populace didn't go down with bugs every five minutes then either...
  13. For my money, Pizza Express is still the best chain restaurant in which to get a Pizza... 😋
  14. Whilst I can perhaps see a benefit in keeping this system on the larger ships, I cannot see a reason for doing so on Aurora and Arcadia post Covid. If they did, it would be another reason for me to choose to cruise with another line.
  15. There are now three large ships sailing and my guess is that anyone wanting to go at the moment might prefer Britannia or Iona to Ventura...
  16. I too have just taken out a new annual Travel Insurance policy and clicked 'yes' to cruises. I was actually pleasantly surprised with the cost.
  17. Many of her potential customers are probably trying out the new kid on the P&O block too...
  18. I can understand that - P&O don't cover themselves in glory when they make any sort of changes to the fleet. Oriana remained beautiful and elegant to the end of her days with P&O. Yes, there were occasional problems with leaking pipes etc but her cabins and public rooms were well cared for. She was timeless.
  19. She was sold to a Chinese company and renamed Pianoland. She is still sailing in China.
  20. I only ever experienced one significant issue on Oriana, when I couldn't get any cold water in my cabin, meaning the shower was boiling hot. After two days without a fix they moved me to another cabin. Ironically the cabin with the problem was newly constructed in the previous children's area when she became adult-only. I've seen the odd corridor leak requiring a bucket on a number of ships of different ages.
  21. My one next Summer is 19 nights and due to call at ports in Spain, Italy, Croatia and Gib. I sincerely hope we are pretty much back to normal by then otherwise they might be forced to drastically change the itinerary...
  22. Sadly, I do think it is too early to know just now. We may be in a better position to know come January\February when we will see how things are going over winter. As much as I'd love to be back on board a ship in many ways, I'm quite glad that I don't have any more booked until late next Summer now...
  23. I prefer classic, laid back and compact as opposed to modern, frenetic and vast. I never found Oriana worn out and broken. As I said, I do understand why some prefer a large, new ship. Just not for me.
