    Question for seasoned cruisers

I can't compare Celebrity to NCL but I have been on the Summit. We ate in the MDR and at the specialty restaurant. Pros: The Summit's food selection was very good. Prior to the Summit, we had only cruised on Carnival. The food was as good or slightly better than Carnival. However, the selection was outstanding, such as Beef Wellington and duck. Now that I have cruised RCCL, I would rate the Summit as my favorite followed by Carnival, and then RCCL for food. We also did the anytime dinning which we were able to make time reservations prior to the cruise. Cons: We elected to get the standard beverage package. It covered most wines and mid-level spirits. I was disappointed that Johnny Walker Black Label was not in that package along with Martini. I was also disappointed with the lack of bar wait service. Most of the cruise I would have to go to the bar for my drinks. With this being said, should I have the choice again, the Summit would be my first choice from all the cruises that we have taken.

    luggage in San Juan

Barrachina Restaurant in Old San Juan will store your bags. You should be able to drop the bags off with the porters at the dock sometime around 11:00 AM or so. Happy cruise.

What hotel did you stay at?

We've have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Condado, El Convento and Villa Herencia Hotel in Old San Juan. The Holiday Inn Express is located a couple of blocks from the shopping area in Condado and was a comfortable stay. The Villa Herencia is a boutique hotel next door to El Convento and has only about 12 rooms. Great location in Old San Juan. Our favorite is the El Convento Hotel. It's located about half way between El Morro and Paseo Princesa. The City Gate is only about two blocks away from this location.
  5. We've done Creole Antigua Tour's lobster lunch twice and we'd recommend this to everyone. If we go back to Antigua. we'll do it for the third time.:D

Please Help me Select a Hotel in San Juan

When are you planning on arriving? The hotels seem to be limited out past March.
  7. Well my Hilton Honors points were added back to my account. I'll books some where else and keep hoping that the Caribe Hilton opens back up for reservations.

  9. I got an email for our reservations for 3/30/17 to 4/1/17 were cancelled as well. I use my Hilton Honor's points and so far the reservation is still showing on their site and I've not got my points back. I'm going to wait the weekend to see if this is updated and then make new reservations after Thanksgiving.

How easy is it to get around San Juan?

You can search the internet for several self guided walking tours. It's very easy to walk around the old town. If you have a difficult time in walking up hill, you should take the trolley or taxi to El Morro then walk back down towards the harbor. http://www.puertoricodaytrips.com/old-san-juan-walking-tour-1/

    Hotels in Old San Juan

We have stayed at El Covento and we would recommend it as well. We have also stayed at the Villa Herencia Hotel, a boutique hotel around the corner from the El Covento. This is our second choice if the El Convento was unavailable. We just love the location of these hotels.

Where to have dinner in Old San Juan?

We found Verde Mesa in Old San Juan was a special place to eat. A quite unique menu. It's just up from the pier on Calle Tetuan. https://www.yelp.com/biz/verde-mesa-san-juan-2 Another place we would recommend is St. Germain Bistro & Cafe. It's located on Calle Sol. If you like sushi, you can give the Dragon Fly a try. It's located on Calle Fortaleza.

    Flight to FLL changed

We had the airline to move the return flight time by a couple of hours from 12:50 to 10:40 AM. We called the airline and explained that we were returning from a cruise and could not make that time. They allowed us to change to a later flight with out any additional fees.
