  1. Can highly recommend the November crossing, having done the round trip last November and booked on again for this year! First leg is the Cheltenham Literature Festival - brings a good atmosphere and ‘buzz’ to the ship and bonus if you have an interest. Day in NYC then head for warmer weather. Xmas Decorations start popping up all over the ship and will be fully installed by the time you reach NYC on your return journey. As others have said you can never predict the weather on the Atlantic - depends what time of year best suits you to travel.
  2. I would say no in PG unless they can introduce drawers under bed! We are liking the living space and shower is excellent but do find the cabin dark as long and narrow! Queens room is a definite no for me - no room to expand and the continual use of plastic conference chairs is a put off! We have enjoyed some great shows in the Royal Court and Bright Lights so positive and negatives for us!
  3. Good call - you will be ready for it by then! Thanks for taking us along on your extended and extended and extended trip - much appreciated! Have you got any plans for QM2 in the pipeline?
  4. Totally in agreement and support your actions. People are well aware of the dress code - or should be via booking and on board information and if you don't like it choose another line. Management need to be held to account for this unacceptable attitude and I hope you follow it up. To be honest we have not enjoyed the Commodore Club on this voyage - not sure if it is down to atmosphere or demographic but will give it another go tomorrow night - last gala night!
  5. As previously observed there are steps and handrail into the pavilion pool but it is shallow with deep dark sides which feels a bit claustrophobic! The Panorama pool is much nicer IMO if you can manage ladder steps.
  6. Good preparation for your first world voyage!🤪
  7. Good for you - as I say horses for courses in terms of venues, choice of entertainment and menu!
  8. Horses for courses as they say and whilst I am more than happy to arrive early for a show/ performance I don't want to arrive an hour or so earlier just to find a seat.
  9. Just been to see the Macdonald Bros in the Queens Room and my first impression of the venue stands - not big enough, not well laid out and the fact that there are conference style chairs popping up all over to fill in spaces says it all! Those on the divided walkway seating area complaining of those standing/blocking their view but understandable as not enough seats and set up with lean to areas for drinks!
  10. Well done Myles - are the chips souvenirs or worth a few bob? Hopefully there is enough in that pile to book another cruise!
  11. Agree that it was the quietest embarkation evening/sail away that we have ever experienced! Great turn out last night with majority adhering to formal dress code! Food and service have been excellent so far! Didn’t make it to the library until yesterday by which time choice limited and must say it is no competition for QM2 or QV. Had a walk around the promenade deck - it’s ok/functional! Not too impressed with the Queens Room but we like all the other venues - grills lounge yet to be experienced but feels more like a passing through space!
  12. Not a fan f bric a brac aka dust gatherers so not sure what the point of these are (glued down I might add) reminds me of a room divider in my Nans!🤪
  13. Embarkation seamless - dropped luggage 12.35 and onboard by 1.05! First impressions very favourable - Cunard but with a twist! We are in PG and cabin is lovely, colour scheme/layout etc but cupboard space is limited and would struggle if on a long cruise and if on a world cruise think I would have to store half my stuff in cases under the bed! The bathroom is bijou but 10/10 for the shower and cubicle but then again we are 5’2 and 5’6! PG restaurant is a very nice space, well laid out and more than happy with our able for 2. Grills terrace is well placed and spacious and looking forward to trying the hot tubs and access to the Cabana and Sky Bar - weather permitting! Lots more to explore over the next few days but obs football is taking priority tonight!
  14. We are also in Southampton ready to board tomorrow and happy to contribute our first impressions/experience on Queen Anne. We are optimistic based on reviews so far and the fact that Myles keeps extending his stay!
  15. Thank you all for the updates - love the sail into/out of Stockholm and we were very fortunate to be in an aft Q5 on our QV cruise. Keeping everything crossed for you Myles and hope to see you on board next week!
  16. Any updates from those currently on this cruise? We will be boarding on Sunday and looking forward to our first experience on Queen Anne - anyrecommendations/tips welcome!
  17. Sorry my mistake - posted on wrong thread!
  18. Any updates from those currently on this cruise? We will be boarding on Sunday and looking forward to our first experience on Queen Anne - any recommendations/tips welcome!
  19. This is has made me LOL! In my neck of the woods pants can mean either - knickers, drawers, undies or trousers, kecks, slacks and of course another word for unsatisfactory! I think the OP is genuinely asking about trousers as evening wear and Yes you can - whatever the dress code!
  20. Thanks to a previous tip from Rakkor we now order a jug of iced water daily from room service (free of charge) when staying in Britannia cabins - along with sliced Lemon/limes if required and cabin steward provides the ice bucket!
  21. We were surprised that there are only 3 gala nights on our upcoming 14 night cruise to Scotland and Iceland 14/7-28/7.
  22. Yes - we were moved to late fixed but very persuasive arguments used by Maitre’d to encourage us to use open dining - including dine when we want, prime table location including window seats etc.
  23. Recently on QV 27/5-10/6 and had requested fixed late dining which was noted on our booking confirmation - on embarkation allocated open dining. We went to speak to Maitre’d who was openly encouraging all who approached him to embrace open dining, we were not swayed. We got the impression that this was actively being encouraged with a view to eventually removing fixed dining as an option.
  24. In all honesty - we had everything on this QG lunch and dinner menu in Britannia restaurant on QV within the last month - except for the lobster. Not that impressed with the options in QG given the significant price difference and would be looking to order more off menu.
  25. Amazing viewing platform - our favourite place on the ship!
