  1. Why would anyone choose a passport card over the book? The card is severely limited and isnt valid for international air travel at all. Saving 80 bucks doesnt seem to be worth it for 10 years. Thats 8 bucks a year. Get the book.
  2. The official site has all of the options. Arena, underground, Belvedere (which is now the 3rd ring instead of 5th). The official site just sells out quickly and its much harder to get tickets but its the best cost option by a wide margin.
  3. Sorry the "water bus" (thats why I included the link for the poster so there was no confusion). All of the information is there. Routes, lines, prices, timetables etc. Point is the alilaguna is also a nice option to get to the airport. At 14 euro a person, it is a bargain as well. If you pick this up at one of the last stops (orange line) - Guglie for example (15 min walk from cruise terminal) you will be to the airport in less than 55 minutes total including walking. A cab takes 20 with no traffic per google maps so taxi is only about 30 minutes quicker if you catch the water bus at one of th
  4. We found a cab in less than a minute near the bus stop as there were several. There is also a bus that runs to Oia every 15-30 minutes or so but the earliest one on the day were were there wasn't scheduled until 830am. The ferry that runs from the tender dock to Oia also wasnt running yet. Instead of waiting around for an hour, we wanted to get to Oia as quickly as possible. I dont think you will have any trouble finding a cab. Both Fira and Oia were very pleasant at this time and we had Oia basically to ourselves. The stores werent even open yet. By the time we got back to Fira after lunch, i
  5. We arrived on Edge at 7am. Were on first tender at 7:01 and on cable car by 7:15 They were not distributing tender tickets that early and there were only about 10 other people waiting at that time. Maybe it depends on the cruise line or ship but it was pretty efficient on the Edge.
  6. We were on the Edge in October and were in port 7-7. We were first ones off the ship and took cable car up to Fira and caught a cab to Oia (25 euro). We were in Oia by 7:30am. We explored Oia for a little while and left there about 9:30 to hike all the way back to the ship. The hike from Oia back to Fira took about 3 hours. If we had to do it again, we would begin in the same fashion but take a cab from Oia to Imerovigli and then hike down to the ship from there. There was not a ton to see on the stretch from Oia to Imerovigli and you have to be in somewhat decent shape as there is much elevat
  7. As others have noted, almost every airline at Marco Polo opened their agent desks 3 hours prior to take off so if you are there any earlier (and need to check bags) you will likely be sitting around until then. We were there last month and getting off the ship at 7am would probably be perfect.
  8. Taxi for sure. Very easy and lined up at the door. If you are paying via credit card, make sure to tell the guy directing the cabs. We waited an extra minute or 2 because most wanted cash payment.
  9. I would check the official ticket site for the coliseum first. Booking through the official site will be 1/4 of the price for the same exact tour. https://www.coopculture.it/en/colosseo-e-shop.cfm
  10. Water taxi to airport is pretty simple and easy also. 14 Euro a person. Just throwing out another option https://www.alilaguna.it/en/tickets/fares
  11. We did the same train 10:47 to Pisa a few weeks ago after disembarking the Edge and were waiting around for hours. We even stalled on the ship. I would try for the earlier train. As others have noted - you will have to take the complimentary shuttle from the ship out of the port area where you can catch the bus to train station for 2 euros. We didnt have a ton of luggage so elected to walk (since we had time). Walk is easy and only about 15-20 minutes.
  12. 3 nights would be good for a first time trip. Must sees are Colosseum/Forum (buy tickets far in advance from the official website which is coopculture). Vatican Museums (buy reserved tickets ahead of time also from Vatican website. Night tours on Friday nights only are really nice and usually go to around October). St Peters is also a must see. Other must sees would be Trevi, Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona, Parthenon - basically all of the places you will see just walking around. Everyone will have their own opinion of must sees but the ones at the top are absolute musts and the best tours need
