  1. We really had a lovely day in Liverpool, including the benefit of great weather. However, the ship is now preparing for rough seas, including heavy rain, during the crossing to Iceland. Furthermore, our itinerary is changed. Our call into Akureyri is cancelled, and replaced by an extra night in Reykjavik. Concerned over the combined impact of an overheated engine, rough seas and itinerary changed, I approached the manager of Guest Relations. He assured me that our engine status is fine; if it was not, we would stay in Liverpool. So, I hope that he is not hiding any information. Fingers crossed for a crossing that promises to involve some challenges for the crew.
  2. Thank-you very much for your comments. It encourages me to keep posting! This said, our next port of call is Akureyri...in 3 days. My next post will likely be on Sunday.
  3. As it turned out, I don't believe it was. But the situation is now resolved. I just hope it won't have an impact on engine performance. Thanks for your prompt reply and support.
  4. New development: We just received a new announcement: " All mobile and back-up groups return to base. " This message sounds reassuring. The captain just announced we had a slightly overheated engine and that everything is fine. We are told that safety squads were called out, out of an abondance of caution...
  5. Hi Everyone, Just relying on your experience. About an hour ago, while docked in Liverpool, An announcement was made on Celebrity Silhouette: Code Bravo, Bravo, Bravo. A few minutes later, it was followed by : Staging areas decks 2, 5, and 6. I spoke to an officer on deck 14 and she assured me that everything was under control. Anyone experienced something similar?
  6. Today, we are in Liverpool. Beautiful architectural and historical elements. The first picture is the view from our veranda, the following two, from the ship's upper deck and after, from walking in the Liverpool streets. I hope you will enjoy the pictures as much as we enjoyed the city.
  7. Today, we arrived in Greenock Scotland (near Glasgow) and did a road trip to Glengoyne, Whisky Distillery. The whisky was superb! Enjoy the pictures: P.s. I apologize, but at the time of posting my pictures, some were turned upside down. I don't know why (they posted correctly on Facebook and I am unable to rotate them properly. So sorry!
  8. Thank-you very much for the tip regarding lemon tarts, I will definitely try them!
  9. Thank-you Jim, so far, the cruise, the Silhouette and its crew are fabulous, exactly like you described in your detailed and very informative reviews. Your pictures were also fabulous! I am just adding pictures of our ports of calls, to complete the experience for Silhouette fans! Hope you will enjoy too!
  10. Dunmore East (Waterford) Road trip to the exact replica of an Irish Immigrant ship: the Dunbrody. Enjoy!
  11. The Porch was opened today from12pm to 14 pm. We just missed it. Based on what I was told, I believe this is there daily schedule.
  12. Today was our first Irish day. The ship docked in Cobh, we drove through Cork, visited the Blarney Castle, had a lunch at the hotel with Irish signing and dancing, stopped for a photo op at Fort Charles, then for shopping at Kinsale. Enjoy the pictures!
  13. I am not a Celebrity rules specialist as they, may change from country to country. What we did as Canadians, we uploaded an official Canadian Government "Covid passports" which included detailed information on our 3 covid doses each and the CPR certified test information, since we tested positive for Covid about 45 days before the cruise. We also had in hand our Certificate of recovery and a copy of our certified Covid Antigen test taken two days before the cruise. Boarding Silhouette was then the smoothest boarding process I ever experienced! I hope this helps! Good luck!
  14. Sorry, something came up while I was typing in my opening post and I did not finish it or meant to publish it yet. Note: our tour guide Annette Henry, was amazing:
  15. Jim recently published a beautiful and detailed review of Celebrity Silhouette, so I don't feel the need to add more information about the ship, unless you have any questions. My intent is only to post pictures about our ports of call. This said, our embarkation process in Southampton was the smoothest I ever experienced. Furthermore, staff on the ship and ashore was just phenomal! We are really having a good time on Silhouette. Below, some pictures fon St.Peter Port, Guersey Island!
  16. I just obtained my Certificate of Recovery today from my family doctor. I submitted to her our complete Covid Vaccination file as well as a copy of our official PCR test. I also gave her a copy of Celebrity's Requirements as stated by 12cruise2. She asked us a few questions, examined us summarily, and provided us with a typed document, meeting all Celebrity's boxes.... Fingers crossed that it will do the trick....My doctor does not speak English ....so my document is written in French.....🀞🀞🀞
  17. I have sailed Infinity in 2018 and she was in good shape and we had a great cruise. I love the M and S class ships. Following our experience on M Class Infinity, we sailed M class Constellation and are booked on M Class Millenium in 2023. The only element available on S Class ships that I personally wish was also available on M class is the Murano restaurant. Of note, Concierge Class and Aqua Class cabins on M Class ship are a bit bigger than regular veranda cabins while on S class ships, all these cabins are of the same size.
  18. I don't know if it will help. But in Canada, through my credit card, I have a basic travel insurance coverage. $2500 per person. When cruising resumed, initially, because in part of the Canadian Government'notice to avoid all cruises.... Finding a cancellation insurance was difficult. Later on, we had one company who developed a Covid insurance program, covering both the Cancellation aspect as a result of a positive test before the cruise and the possible costs associated to a quarantine, either during or after the cruise. When I found that insurer, I was happy, although expensive, I had at least a viable option. Then in March, the Canadian Government removed the "avoid all cruises" notification. So, I called back my credit card insurance group and was pleased with the response. In their minds, Covid is a known "factor", so, there would be no coverage if the cruiseline cancelled the cruise (In that option, I am relying on the cruiseline to either refund, or provide a FCC). However, since I was healthy at the time of booking the insurance, they would cover any cancellation related costs, if I were to test positive for covid before the cruise. This was fantastic news to me since it would cover the gap between the Celebrity Cruise with Confidence 48 hours program. Furthermore, they would cover also, quarantine associated costs and flight replacement costs if needed. So, for me, I only had to upgrade my coverage from $2500 to $5000 per person, which ended up costing about 30% of the cost of the other insurer's program. So, I was really happy. Hope this little story will help!
  19. We are sailing in two weeks too. We tested positive for Covid on April 28. I contacted both my TA and a Celebrity Representative to figure out what I needed to do to minimize any risks of being refused boarding or unnecessarily quarantined. I was advised to obtain a certified positive PCR test, as soon as positive after testing positive on the Antigen test; then to obtain a Certificate of Recovery. I will comply! With these documents, I asked the Celebrity Rep, if I steel needed to do the Antigen test two days prior to board and the answer, provided to me was : yes. So, a bit confused about this answer I asked, if my antigen test is negative, I can board the ship and if it's positive.... I can still board. The answer I received was: yes. So, I asked, what's the purpose of passing the antigen test, if the outcome does not impact my boarding process. The answer I was provided was : our protocole requires every passengers and crew to be tested prior to board!!! My TA confirmed that infirmation. Although, I am feeling a bit.... uneasy and insecure about this process, I will follow what I was told. I will pass an Antigen test on the Thursday ( via one of the on-line companies) and hopefully, boarding will go well on the Saturday. Fingers crossed!
  20. Thank-you very much to all, I really enjoy reading and learning about Princess Cruises and the perspective of their passengers. Please, keep the information coming! In response to a question asked above, I realized that I forgot to mention our planned destination and timeline. I always book my cruises quite early. So our destination would be New-Zealand in the spring of 2024. By then, fingers crossed, I am hoping Covid and its impact will be a thing of the past. Thank-you very much again for taking the time to share your loving moments on Princess.
  21. Hi, Our sailing experience includes HAL, RCCL and X. We are now considering a sailing on Majestic Princess but, not too sure what the cruising experience is on Princess. So, if you want to share, I would love to hear what part of your cruising experience on Princess you love the most! Thank-you very much in advance!
  22. Jeanne, My sincere condolences for the loss of your husband and my best wishes for strength, courage and loving support during this difficult moment.
  23. Hi OP, In answer to your first question, the AI elevate package, to my knowledge is not showing up on your booking on the website nor on the app, until your Express Pass is ready. Then you should see on your Express Pass ( on the web site and the app), the mention PALL to reflect your premium package. Meanwhile, on your written Booking Confirmation (Guest Copy), the following mentions should be shown: Elev-Elevate Grat ( with the number of night of your cruise) Surfchg ( with the number of nights of your cruise) BevPringra ( with the number of nights of your cruise) It will be possible to upgrade your internet either before or during the cruise. I am not sure, how the cost is calculated. Regarding your three meals package, Celebrity will book your first meal, on day 1 or 2 of the cruise, choose the venue and time. However, once aboard, you can check with the responsible person what has been selected for you. Based on availabilities, it's often possible to change it. Then you can book yourself the next two meals: venue, day and time. Hope this helps!
  24. I have not sailed on Beyond or any ships of that class. I have only sailed on M and S class ships. Looking at the Beyond deck plans, the lifeboats appears to be located on Deck 5. This means that on Deck 7, sitting on your chair, you will have an unobstructed view of the ocean. Standing at the railing and looking directly below, of course, you will see the lifeboats. But that view of the lifeboats standing at the railing, will be the same, event if you go up a few more decks. So, in my opinion, your husband is correct. From deck 7, mid-ship, you should really have a beautiful cruise to enjoy. I wish you a great time on your cruise!
  25. We took the tour on Solstice in 2017. I really enjoyed it. Going on the bridge, seeing the navigation instruments, the window on the floor allowing to see the ocean directly below, getting a briefing on how the ship is operating, taking a selfie with the Captain, etc. Then going to the engine room, learning more about the ship's double hull, the engines and all the safety features, was both reassuring and impressive. Passing through the areas where the food is stored, going through the laundry facility and observing these huge machines. Going through the ship's main corridor on the crew's deck ( I forgot the Highway it's named after), seeing a cabin crew. All quite interesting! Lastly, going through the ship's galley, where the food is prepared was also impressive. As mentioned, I am really glad I did. I learned a lot from it. But, it's not a tour I would do on every cruise unless it would be a perk, for some reasons.
