  1. No ... you will likely anchor in Cook's Bay and there are no easily accessed beaches. Alberts my pick you up and take you to there rental office ... maybe
  2. Swimming Pools: The Tiare pool will be closed, but the hotel’s sand-bottomed pool near Le Lotus restaurant will remain open. Day pass: Offered at the Lotus pool, in a quiet, sheltered setting with more limited access. Breakfast: (*) A la carte breakfast will be served at Le Lotus Restaurant from 8:30 am to 10:30 am Which services will be impacted? Te Tiare Restaurant & Tiki Bar: Te Tiare Restaurant and Tiki Bar will be closed for lunch on weekdays, but breakfast at Te Tiare will continue to be served from 6 am to 8.30 am* (details for later breakfast options on next question) Sunday brunch and our Buffet dinner shows on Wednesdays (Marquesan Night) and Fridays (Tahitian Night) will continue. Happy Hour at the Tiki Bar is suspended; information will be updated when it reopens. Shore activities: The Turtle Tour with Te Mana O Te Moana and the Lagoonarium will remain open.
  3. I never rent a taxi for a period of time so I would not know.
  4. Bruno still owns but he has skippers for the tours. I've know Bruno for 25 years ... From what I've gleaned his skippers are doing a wonderful job and are a bit more vocal than Bruno ... might actually be better 😉
  5. Happy to say my Better Half and I will be aboard the Aranui 5 this spring. This will allow me to give personal information on all 3 ships that their home port is Papeete. This will be the 6th ship we've sailed in FP waters. I'll be taking pictures/video of the ship and the islands ... will share when we return.
  6. Usually ... the larger the ship the less likely you will find one, they are a premium for the first couple of tenders. Some people grab a taxi early and then hire the driver for several hours for a tour.
  7. Hard to say about day passes ... seems like some offer and then they don't ... in the past both IC and Hilton offered day passes. I would check with those 2. A day room is different than resort passes ... day rooms are pricy, day passes are reasonable if available. May guess is if you've purchased a day pass you likely can ask for the transit room for a shower before heading to the airport.
  8. Been to FP 33 times most on smaller ships but this will be the first time on the Aranui 5. Looking forward to it. There is no roll call for this cruise line so I'm posting here. Any helpful hints would be nice (about the ship). Is dinner served family style or have they changed to menu/plated?
  9. The IC Tahiti is a large property with a beautiful setting / garden. As you are staying pre-cruise I would simply pay for a late check out and just enjoy the resort for the 2 days.
  10. I've been to French Polynesia on 5 different small ships but this year we are taking the Aranui 5 to the Austral Islands ... looking forward to this adventure ... we have a balcony suite ...
  11. As FlightMedic55 mentioned the vendors will usually know once you give them the date and the name of the ship. On Tahaa the ship does not have a tender to visit the island except if your on a ship excursion. On Moore the Star Breeze usually uses Cook's Bay. The PG usually uses Oponupo Bay
  12. Still a work in process ... but it is better than what it was. I know my way around LAX and I remember it only a few short years ago ... it is better and I know it will continue to improve.
  13. Podcast # 6 Going through the international airports
  14. From what we were told only access from ship to/from Tahaa is on the ship tours. See if you vendor can pickup and drop off directly from the motu.
  15. HO HO HO HO .... TahitianBigKahuna loves plying Santa when he is on-board. you all have a Merry Christmas
  16. The rugged Marquesas .. Taioha'e Bay on the island of Nuku Hiva We will be visiting this 'wild' island again in 2025. The island of Ua-Pou sits in the background.
  17. I've always received a better price on the Avis corporate site ... If your going to book in Moorea there are now Hertz/Thrifty close to the Moorea ferry docks and they are pricing aggressively ... about 20% less than avis-tahiti. https://www.hertz.pf/en/reservation.php
  18. Was English all the way through though you had to make sure translation was on to English. Here is the picture of the page once I was ready to pay ..
  19. I had no problem but you must make sure your in the English version. It's at the top right. As the schedule can change weekly I would wait until the week your heading out to FP. This is especially true during the holiday season. https://www.aremitiexpress.com/en/ticketing/#pll_switcher I know ... there is another ferry but this was simply to show you that you can book on-line
  20. Doesn't get much better than this .... IC Tahiti at sunset
  21. Bruno is still in business though he has a young crew taking people out
  22. Not as many trucks now compared to pre pandemic but never less there are usually 4 - 6 trucks and I've eaten at many ... Glad you had a great time 🙂
