  1. Hello- My wife and I like the balcony and the larger the better (must be covered). My last 4 HAL cruises have all been Caribbean sailings in Signature Suites on N. Amsterdam & Westerdam. Looking to book a Caribbean sailing on the N. Statendam in a regular balcony on either a Deck 4 aft with the larger balcony or one of the angled cabins. Any recommendations/feedback on either of these would be much appreciated!! Chris
  2. For the past few years I travelled with my parents (mid-late 80"s) and their friends (same age group) really to assist them with transfers to/from ship, luggage help, etc. My Mom had to have an accessible balcony cabin or suite and our cruises were on Celebrity, Princess and HAL. I was surprised on the very limited and not user friendly choices on HAL (Vista and Signature class ships), especially not having auto opening doors. The Celebrity ships were the best from this regard but had challenges in other areas. Given the number of Baby Boomers I see all lines using scooters/walkers/etc., I expect the demand is only going to be greater in the future.
  3. My perfect sea day is enjoying this view. Picture taken from the Sunset Bar on Celebrity Silhouette sailing in the Mediterranean October, 2015.
  4. Just like the people posting on CC ”I want to cruise”.
  5. Can you mention what “the questions that many of us have” are? Thank you
  6. The remaining cruises on the three ships in March are now cancelled. https://go.pardot.com/webmail/162131/750085010/e705419c1d85200e91b86a61e259760b2ba893e672fe59e899877680932d5247
  7. My vote also and I agree they should have built a couple more!
  8. Here are the drone policies for the major lines. No go for Princess, which is a bit surprising to me since Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and Carnival do allow them on board, but with many restrictions. https://transcendfpv.com/are-drones-allowed-on-cruise-ships/
  9. The Hyatt House has the two room suites, not the Hyatt Place. Homewood Suites also has two room/two bath suites but they are I believed listed as handicapped rooms.
  10. I was not aware of new procedures being published for North American departures. Are you referring to the procedures being used on the few sailings in Europe and the future sailings to nowhere from Singapore?
  11. Just cancelled our family Christmas sailing 12/20 on the Caribbean Princess. If someone wants covered mini's on Deck 8 there are quite a few now available!
  12. I am looking at a November 2022 Med cruise from Athens. The fare is about $800 which if for two is not bad. I am calling to see if Premium Economy (the real type on most international airlines) or Business is available. This is assuming this sailing even happens😲
  13. Thanks for the great responses. I am a bit surprised it is not being implemented since the Mardi Gras is a new ship and I would assume the wifi/internet capability is pretty robust given the size of the ship. I was a bit hesitant with the Medallion last year when sailing on the Caribbean Princess but it worked out great. Chris
  14. Hello- Any idea if the Mardi Gras will have a “medallion” type system similar to the one used on many of the Princess ships? Thanks, Chris
  15. I would expect the first few months of sailing from North American ports will be similar to this Costa experience which is being implemented now on their Italian cruises. It will be interesting to see if it works and if it accepted by cruisers around the world. https://www.cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-news/23627-what-it-s-like-to-cruise-with-costa-during-the-pandemic.html
  16. 20+ members of my family are booked on the 20 December Caribbean Princess Christmas sailing. This would be our fifth Princess Christmas cruise but we are cancelling. With no information on ports, the actual onboard changes and having family members from 2 years old to 85 scheduled to sail the thought of paying $45,000 is crazy.
  17. So similar in size to the Carib Deck balcony’s on the Grand Class Ships?
  18. If these guidelines are incorporated HAL might be able to start with one ship, from Ft. Lauderdale to Half Moon Cay, Grand Turk, Amber Cove and possibly Mahogany Bay, Roatan.
  19. Nothing really new here. Most likely the same or similar protocols for NCL, Celebrity, RCL & Azamara?
  20. http://www.crew-center.com/nclh-cruise-ships-go-cool-lay-manning do not believe it is “ Fake News”
  21. It depends on the ship. One of the reasons I am a fan of the Vista and especially Signature Class ships is the abundance of elevators especially mid-ship with the glass enclosed elevators (I also like the signature suites). Accommodating scooters is another challenge for cruise ship elevators.
  22. The Cruise on YouTube. I believe there are six seasons and the show is shot on Princess ships.
  23. My wife and I are 57, have over 40 cruises with the most sailings on Princess (17) but the most nights on Celebrity due to a couple of fall Europe to US sailings, an Auckland to Sydney cruise and a 14 night Med/Israel cruise. After a 10+ year pause we went on the Westerdam in 2017 in a Signature Suite and have been on two additional HAL sailings in Signature Suites. We like the Vista and Signature Class ships & our next HAL booking is on the N. Statendam in April 2021 which I expect to be cancelled due to the pandemic. We like the Signature Suites, hydro pool and speciality dining on HAL. My first cruise was on Home Lines Oceanic when I was 13 and then sailed on Sitmar Lines Fairwind both classic liners with great service. While I have fond memories of those ships, that is the past and I am more interested in the future. In the future I would love to see HAL: - upgrade the technology and WiFi on the ships. Can add a medallion type system and additional viewing choices on the interactive television - do away with formal/gala whatever nights please - end assigned seating for dinner - expand the music walk/Rolling Stones Rock Room to the Vista and Signature ships. Also utilize the Ocean Bar better with some jazz or acoustic music - have some live music outside (possibly by aft pool) during the day - make the ships non-smoking as Celebrity has done
