  1. The angled balcony is great, but we were going to do the spa regardless. Now we will be much closer to the spa, and generally don't spend a ton of time enjoying the balcony during the cruise. We get to the port early and hope to get Vibe, and haven't missed out on it yet.
  2. We just had our offer accepted the other day, about 25 days out from sailing! We got the spa mini suite for $150 pp from a BD angled balcony.
  3. No, once you are upgraded through the bidding process, you are locked into that cabin. You don't get to try and bid again. You would have to call NCL and upgrade directly through them, and then try the bidding process after you are upgraded.
  4. Exactly! It's a great value, and all people can do is complain. It's unbelievable.
  5. I've used the Red Roof by the airport, and the Holiday Inn Express Doral. Both offered shuttles, but they cram you in a van with other passengers. We just used Uber, which was less than $20 each way. This year we are using the Aloft by the airport for our November cruise, and the price was very reasonable. I don't believe it has a port shuttle, but we will again be using Uber.
  6. We generally bring 1 per person for water around the ship. We are considering buying one of the larger bottles to keep water in the room, or for the private island. Also, the Walmart brand does just as good a job as a Yeti, and you won't be mad if you lose it!
  7. I think it is 100% worth it. You don't have to fight the crowds for a lounger, or have kids running around you. You get great service from the staff, and the crowd is fun!
  8. That is correct. The drink package doesn't count, and you get two drinks. It's a couple choices of pre mixed drinks.
  9. Food Republic does have some Asian/Asian fusion dishes. I loved everything I tried there, and we ate there 4 times on our cruise! There were also some decent Asian offerings on the buffet that I noticed the couple times we ate there.
  10. I was just on the Escape over Thanksgiving, and did not notice the smell except when in parts of the casino. It was not nearly as bad as some of the reviews I read had made it seem.
  11. We just got back and out bed was near the balcony. It is a little tight, but I liked having the bed next to the sliding doors.
  12. I was also on this sailing, and I completely agree! It was a great trip. The Escape is a fantastic ship. It is easily the best cruise I've been on. Once I settle back in, I will write up my own review.
  13. If you plan to drink on an NCL cruise, the package even with the gratuity is a great deal. When selecting the UBP, and UDP, it does say that there will be an 18% service charge assessed. If you don't check the fine print, you can't complain. Both are well worth it. If you paid for every drink and ate at the specialty restaurants separately, you would pay the 18% service charge every time.
  14. I recommend seeing it. We saw the show last year on the Getaway, and it was very entertaining. It was a great way to have a good lunch, drink some wine, and enjoy a sea day.
  15. It is a great deal! I looked up available rooms near our new room, and they are going for over $1200. With the $100 upgrade bid, we payed $820pp! I didn't expect the upgrade to the BA class balcony!
