  1. @HBCcruiserI noticed the champagne in the small ice bucket. On the chance you weren’t aware, if you call room service they will bring you a proper wine bucket. Then I always ask my steward to please keep it filled with ice twice a day. @Sn0cruiserthat is the Grand suite on the Grand Princess. To my knowledge it is the only suite in the Princess fleet with its own jetted tub on the balcony. There are 2 suites like this on the Grand L301 and L302. There is a separate hallway behind a door that leads to this suite and a few OV cabins. It is every bit as nice as it looks. There’s a you tube video out there I posted a few years ago of it as well.
  2. @HBCcruiser Bon voyage! My GF and I will be joining you on the 27th. You will love the grand suite.DH and I spent 10 days in it and those sea days in the very private jacuzzi out on the gorgeous wooden balcony were amazing. I sail in that suite every chance I get. The sky suites are spectacular too but a bit much for just 2 people. Would you mind terribly checking your account on the ap after your corkage is billed? I’m bringing some special bottles and wondering if they are actually charging the new rate or not. Sometimes these type of policies are adopted slowly. When I sailed on the Majestic in July this year the bubbly by the glass in Vines that was included in the beverage package changed from Chandon (pre pandemic) to Gloria Ferrar brut. An upgrade in my opinion. Would you please let me know if the Grand is pouring the Gloria as well if you get a chance? thanks so much.
  3. Exactly what are you trying to say here?
  4. I eat simple that’s the only reason they don’t look special. Even though I could, I don’t tend to ask for fancy food. Just plain for me but fresh and well prepared. The pictures are to show you the difference in the MDR fake poached egg versus the Sabatini’s suite breakfast real poached egg. The real poached egg is far superior in texture and taste. The fake one is rubbery.
  5. Real poached eggs are served in the suite breakfast vs the eggs cooked in a cup to look like they were poached served in MDR. See photos below. Also actual potatoes cubed and fried not the reconstituted potato triangles served in MDR. Once DH was chatting with our server and mentioned he enjoyed Nutella crepes. With his breakfast he was served one made special by our server as a surprise. The oj has always been fresh squeezed and you can have your mimosa without the oj. No limit on # of glasses and does not count towards the 15 drinks on your drink package. Not that I can drink that much but just sayin’. Best ever service and food is hot!
  6. Thank you for the reply @donswife I am also in a full suite and I am glad they are still doing the escorts on like they did in the “before times”. I don’t need a guide as I’m very familiar with the Grand but it’s a nice touch. Who is the cruise director?
  7. Thanks for taking the time to do this. I am getting on in 10 days 17 hours and 4 minutes (but who’s counting? Lol) My journey view shows nothing loaded yet. On my July 25 sailing this year I could see the events weeks in advance. When did journey view start showing events for the cruise you are on? Does the crew check to see if you have made a “reservation” for an event when you go to it? I’m not worried about it, just curious how journey view is being rolled out. thanks again!
  8. I can only speak to what happened on the first Alaska sailing out of Seattle July 25th on the Majestic. I was told this directly by Jan Swartz. A fully vaccinated couple with very mild symptoms tested positive in the first 36 hours of our sailing. They moved to one of the special negative airflow, HEPA filtered mini suites for the duration of the cruise. The cases were reported at every port. They were not forced off the ship and into any type of quarantine at any port. All close contacts tested negative and continued the cruise as usual. ‘That is all that Jan told me. I wish I had asked her more questions as she told me she wanted to be completely transparent with me.
  9. I am completely comfortable with this new protocol. And FWIW, on the July 25th Majestic sailing to Alaska the isolation cabins were mini suites with negative airflow and HEPA filtration. Those are very nice roomy cabins.
  10. Sorry for the typo. My post should say that wasn’t something………. and FWIW the ap works well for me on my iPhone.
  11. Sorry that was t something I posted about our meeting with Jan. One of our members was telling Jan about her horrible problems with the ap and Jan said she’d use her booking as a case study to find what was going on behind the scenes and fix them.
  12. Here you go. July 25, 2021 Alaska sailing on the majestic I took pictures of all the bar menus and the entire MDR wine list. Vines, good spirits and crown grill bar had their own unique menus. The rest of the bars used the one with the color pictures. They were posted on my live from but that’s probably hard to search. Paper menus are no longer set out. You use a smart phone and a QR code. On my cruise they’d let you see the paper ones if you asked.
  13. I am by no means an experienced Princess cruiser. I have barely over 100 days. But honestly neither my husband nor I have ever had an issue with the sound level in the theater. We do not go to concerts on land so we are not accustomed to loud venues. Hence if the production show were excessively loud I think we’d notice. Full disclosure: he is not hearing impaired and I have a very slight impairment We have occasionally watched MUTS But usually go forward or aft for a quiet deck experience. The bars there are great as well as the views! It is my impression that the mid deck pool area is for those who like that loud energy. I mean Princess is, in general, much more sedate than many other lines. Let there be at least some place where those who want loud music outside to go. Princess does promote itself as multigenerational.
  14. I really don’t see how you could possibly walk into it. Just look at the photo.
  15. @fayette. I stayed in C750 on the Grand which I believe is the same layout as C751 on the Crown. Here’s a picture. I felt the balcony was crowded. But take that with a grain of salt. I just posted pics on the island balcony thread which gives you an idea of what I like. Lol.
  16. These are Aloha 727 with a wrap around deck. The lido deck corner suites do not wrap around and are much narrower.
  17. @kayelbee The biggest balconies are the aloha vista suites. I’ll try to post some pictures. These are Aloha 729
  18. You can ask room service for a real wine bucket filled with ice or get one of the plastic beer bucket from any bar filled with ice. In my experience it’s worth it (money wise) to bring on champagne or sparkling wine and pay the corkage. ‘yes you can bring the bottle any where on board.
  19. @CruiseRaider thank you for the news about port side testing and for such a wonderful first day report. You and I have both sailed the Grand many times in the aft cabins. I know you have a good idea of what is “normal’ for her. I am sorry to hear of the excessive noise and vibrations. I do hope this is not constant. Please keep us updated. I’ll be sailing in an aft cabin on her soon (Aloha deck). I love to get my miles in walking the promenade in the early morning. If anyone sailing now happens to notice would you please let me know if masking is a must while walking on the promenade? Thank you to all onboard for taking time from your holiday to share with us all.
  20. Bon voyage @CruiseRaider! Did you happen to notice any on site testing available for people who didn’t get their test results in time?
  21. @Level sixNo I haven’t paid my credit bill yet. My statement hasn’t even closed. They literally cancelled the day after final payment date. I have a window here as do all the Hawaii cruisers on my sailing to simply dispute the charge. It is in my best interests to keep my $18k in my bank account instead of Princesses. If they ban me for it that’s okay by me. I called my credit card company to discuss my options and let them know I’m still trying to work this out with Princess so I can be guaranteed a speedy refund (must be before my cc payment is due of course). They can’t seem to do that. I don’t think I’ve missed any reason not to dispute the charges but I wanted to throw it out here to see other points of view.
  22. My Hawaii cruise was cancelled also. I made final payment sept 8th and it was cancelled sept 9th. Has anyone else thought about just dispute charge with your credit card? I called mine today and they said it was fine to do so especially given the long wait times for refunds. My statement hasn’t even closed yet. I have 60 days to dispute but it only makes sense to do so before my credit card balance is due. I can dispute it and never have to pay the money to visa. Then visa is the one waiting for Princess to “get around to it”. They can better afford to have their money tied up than I can. Does anyone see a downside to this?
  23. The Grand suite on the Grand Princess has a door to the bedroom. It also has a jetted hot tub on the beautiful very private balcony. We sailed 10 days in this suite. 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV 6ED32AA4-CD22-40AB-BDA2-56D51292CE15.MOV
  24. How do you know that? When I sailed the majestic July 25 this year multiple crew told me 100% were vaccinated. There were a dozen still in isolation waiting to finish their 14 days post vaccine.
