I'm not sure why, but AT flight to FLL out of Montreal are 7 days a week, but out of Toronto are only 4 days a week. And AT doesn't fly there Thursday or Friday, inconvenient for cruisers with weekend departures. I'm sure Porter with be happy to accommodate them! 😇

And I'll be happy to let Porter accommodate me LOL.

Not that I'd promote AT over Porter, but they are still flying to Fort Lauderdale.

I know they weren't for a while -  their customer service told me that as of April 1 they had cancelled a lot of their Florida routes for November 2023, but it seems they are back - although they are not operating on dates that work for me. Still, the prices are high for AT.

  3. Oh I'm happy to have found this thread. We have never flown Porter before but we are now considering it. Has anyone here had much experience with the airline? We are frequently frustrated enough with Air Canada/Westjet that we just end up driving down to Fort Lauderdale (especially now that AT isn't flying there I was thinking that would be the case again this year)...

I'm glad to hear this is on the schedule! We are booked in late November 2024 on the first Caribbean cruise after the TA from Europe to Florida. I was half expecting our cruise to be canceled because they usually are at the beginning or the end of the European swing so they could have booked the dry dock in November/December with a rescheduled TA and other cancellations. Sorry for those whose cruises were canceled but hopefully Oceania is offering you some sort of credit and suggested alternative sailings for your inconvenience.

We are booked on that same Caribbean cruise - our first on Oceania. I didn't even know there was supposed to be a refurbishment, so I guess I find it kind of exciting to hear about it. I feel awful for anyone whose cruises were canceled though. I know how gutted I would be if it were to happen to me. My hubby is one of those who can easily shrug things off and take things as they come... I am not. I would likely actively mourn, loud and long (how loud and how long would probably depend on how good the cruise line's peace offering was, but there would still be a mourning period).

Does Oceania have chai tea lattes and if so, are they complimentary?  Many cruise companies don’t have Clamato juice, does Oceania?

    LOVE Clamato juice.

I would think that if they do have chai tea lattes, they would be complimentary but I have no idea if they have them.

We just booked our first Oceania Cruise last week; I'm enjoying this thread immensely. It's very helpful. Hopefully someone will know the answer about the Clamato juice question..

  6. When I called for a quote for cancellation/interruption only (we already have more than enough medical), I was told that there is a cap on the amount per trip when you choose the annual plan (more than one trip per year), but you can always call to increase the insurance should you have a trip that is more (you'll have to pay for it though). Alternatively you can just purchase your cancellation/interruption per trip (based on the cost of that specific trip), rather than an annual plan, and they will cover the full amount of trip per person.

  7. I am so very sorry for your loss. He will be missed by many. I wish you and your family strength and comfort during this difficult time. I always enjoyed your husband's posts to this board; Don truly was a wealth of information, always helpful, and a real asset to this board. May his memory be eternal.

In addition to the tip given above about letting the site "find" your complete address, another tip is to try to go through the process with a different passenger in the same stateroom. I was unable to get the travel docs sent to my email for me but when going through the process with the other 3 staying in my stateroom (wife/2 kids), the docs came through just fine...even though I use the same email address for everyone.

Yeah, this didn't work for me, doesn't matter which passenger I use. I had so hoped it would. But thanks, I do appreciate it.

  9. Okay, I gave up with the website. Even though all the address info and other things were completed correctly, I was not able to email the documents to myself. I asked my TA to get them, and he did - but they don't have our Voyagers Club status on them. So I called MSC, this was corrected, and they said they sent the travel documents to me. I did not get them. I called again, and was told the request has been put in, and I should have them in a day or so. It's now been 3 days. My TA has also called, but was told MSC is experiencing difficulty sending out travel documents and they will send them when they send them, basically. I seem to say this a lot about MSC - it shouldn't be this hard. I am not sure what to do. Yes, I am grateful I at least have one set of travel documents (even if they have, for whatever reason, not linked our VC number to the reservation and our status doesn't show). But really should it be this difficult to obtain a correct set of documents? It's a simple email. I don't care if it comes to me or to my TA, but it's not hard to send one and I fail to see how difficult it can be to generate one. We embark in 15 days - if I didn't have the first set of documents I'd be a complete basket case by now. As it is I'm only a partial basket case and this vacation better be worth the headaches.

Certainly. If you enter the ship without the OBC voucher from your travel document PDF the staff at the future cruise desk can do nothing for you. And the correct VC status needs to be stated in the travel documents also, otherwise it will be difficult to get the perks.

Where in the travel documents would you see the VC status? Thank you...

If you have a TA have the TA do it, otherwise call MSC, eventually they can put your address in there and it will stay.  Also they can send you your cruise docs by email.  Request it when you call.  Hope that helps!

    Thank you so much!

  12. Hi! I apologize if this has been asked already many times, but I don't quite know what to do. We sail on May 21. I completed everyone's web check in ages ago, except for the photo (no matter what we try we can't upload a photo and we can't take a photo, we've tried many different things all to no avail). The information has been there except for the photo for months. I did call MSC, and the agent said the photo thing is a common problem and not to worry about it, we will still get our cruise documents and they will just take a picture at embarkation. So I didn't worry.

We are now within 20 days of boarding, though, and I have noticed that our address information has disappeared from our web check in information. I keep re-adding it and it keeps deleting, there is no way to save it. Our other info is all there, phone number, emergency contact, passport info, etc. But the address disappears. And of course, no photo.

The website tells me my cruise documents are not ready - is this because our photo isn't there, or our address keeps disappearing? How do we get these documents (I can't help but think we won't be able to embark without them)? Do I have to call MSC (or make my TA do it)?

    Thanks...

Yes.  ❤️  Our first two retired racers.  We’ve had two more since, but all have crossed over the rainbow bridge and we’re without a hound currently.  Now that they’ve outlawed racing, it’s hard to find a greyhound.  I see you’re a greyhound lover too!

It's such a shame how difficult it is now. We've had 3 gone to the bridge, and currently have one blind boy from West Virginia and one young, bossy, pain in the hindquarters girlie from Ireland. Love them so much.  All the adoption groups we know of have wait lists 100 people long. Sigh.

  14. We are currently having the same problem. I have resized the photos to the correct size, and still get an error uploading the photo. So we tried to use the "take photo" button but that isn't working either.

I understand that they will take a photo at the port, but I just want to confirm that even though the website says we haven't completed web check-in because we have not uploaded the photo (the other information is definitely there), we will still get our boarding passes/other info necessary regardless, correct?

    Thanks!

  15. Well, we have had success! It took some doing on the part of our travel agent, but in the end he found someone who understood the nature of the request, the nature of the problem, and was able to move our rooms without any need for rebooking and without any additional charges. I am greatly relieved and glad that we are not taking away an accessible room from someone who might need it.

Now to get on with the planning!

Thank you all for your suggestions and comments, they were invaluable.

Your best bet is to do a mock booking, find a cabin you'd like that fits the "level" and experience you have paid for.  Then have your TA call and specifically request that cabin.

Okay, we'll try that next. Thanks!
