  1. Thanks P_mori7 for the help. When you mentioned that the HOHO bus was operated by Gray Line, I got to looking closer. The bus I was looking at is operated by Viator. So these are obviously two separate companies offering a similar tour.

It is difficult to find info on either of the tours---like hours of operation. The Gray Line tour closes down at 4:00 I think. Can't find that info for Viator. The tickets are good for two days, but can we use them in the evening? Or just during the daytime?

I'll try calling both tomorrow, but if anyone has info to help, I surely would appreciate it.

    B.

  2. Thanks, P_mori7, for all the great info. I do have a question about the 747 bus from the airport. We are arriving mid afternoon next Friday (20th) and I'm wondering about our best option here. Is the bus ticket good for one calendar day, or for a 24 hour period (3:00 Fri. to 3:00 Sat)?

If only for the day, would this be a good option for just taking a ride around the city that night to see the "city lights"? Not sure of the route--if we would pass by some pretty buildings or areas that are lit at night. How near to the "L Hotel" could we get on this bus?

Other option is just take a taxi from airport and walk around Old Montréal that evening. Do you know the cost of a taxi from airport to "L" Hotel on Rue St Jacques?

    Thanks, B

  3. Thanks, p mori7, for the info. We have booked the train and are looking forward to the trip. Just read on another thread that Via Rail is having a sale for this trip for $50 pp!!! Could that be? We paid more than triple that! (And just booked a couple of days ago.)

  4. P_mori7---hope you have a grand time on your cruise to the Baltics!! We did this a couple of years ago and loved it!

Quick question---We will be staying in Old Montreal for two nights prior to our Canada/New England cruise out of Quebec City. What is our best option for getting to QC?:

    A. Take taxi to airport to get HAL's transportation, or

    B. Get to train station (how?) and take Via Rail to QC.

I think prices are similar. I understand there is a bus that also goes, but wonder if we might have too much luggage (not sure if you can take luggage on bus).

Thanks for your help and all of your good insights!

  5. On the Alaska cruise, SALMON---every way they prepared it. Also tried a few other types of fish, all excellent!

But probably our very favorite---the chilled soups, especially the blueberry!

Actually have never had anything that wasn't good! And no dishes to wash or cleanup---you can't beat that!!

  6. Hi, Dreamgirl1957,

Concerning the I Love Lucy series---the episodes are replayed occasionally here in the US. In fact, I think they were on just a few weeks ago, but I was out of town and missed it!!:( If I find any info, I'll post.

I think there are several "classic" Lucy episodes:

    The candy factory

    The ballerina

    Stomping grapes

    The cruise series

  7. What great pictures, great memories, great stories!! I'm impressed with some of your long cruise histories. Oh, why didn't I start cruising sooner??:(

Our first was on the beautiful Ryndam, cruisetour to Alaska in 2005. I think she will always be our favorite.

  8. Haven't read all of the posts yet on this thread, so this may be a repeat. (if so, it is well worth repeating!)

The cold fruit soups in the dining room each day (lunch AND dinner if I remember correctly) were fantastic! All of us came home trying to duplicate those delicious recipes. Haven't succeeded yet, but getting close on one or two! This was on the Ryndam (Alaska Cruise/tour).

This is one of the things we are most looking forward to on our next HAL cruise---hopefully by next fall.
