Totally agree. QA Club was not a patch in design, layout or ambience.

Are World Cruise "Segment" Guests Second-Class Citizens?
Planning to cruise replied to JimDee363636's topic in Cunard Line
I recognise this for world passengers. The ship was home for 4 months. The pizza restaurant on QM2 was popular on some evenings full of other dressed down worldies having a quick and simple meal for a change. -
Why is the new Queen Anne so controversial?

Nope, maybe for some but we also go on very contemporary ships that we enjoy. -

I had noticed but this is not on the list of dislikes . -
As a UK resident I have been to almost all of the ports mentioned. In terms of port calls only I would opt for numbers 1 or 2 with the balance arguably falling on itinerary 1. Others will tell you differently so ultimately the choice is yours. As for other considerations. Ship and price. Importantly, I feel, departure port. You mention Dover, Copenhagen and Southampton. Which is best for you? In the UK Dover is possibly less accessible for most than Southampton. How about getting to Copenhagen? Time in port may be important if you want longer visits to more distant cities or special events like the Tatoo.

Next Generation Quiet Vox -Bluetooth compatible

This is useful for those like me with a hearing aid in both ears. The in ear devices have been useless. Sometimes I went without, sometimes I struggled with one paired aid out and distorted sound. Then, allelujah, a Viking person informed me I could have over the ear phones with the set. What a game changer. The room steward supplies them. -
Are World Cruise "Segment" Guests Second-Class Citizens?
Planning to cruise replied to JimDee363636's topic in Cunard Line
We have done a world cruise and several segments. In answer to the original question, my view is no, not 2nd class. Everyone is on the same ship at the same time with the same food, entertainment etc offers and ports of call. Non world pax change as the ship circumnavigates - more Australians off Australia, more Japanese or Chinese off Asia etc. The worldies will have some exclusive social events but as it is usually one per segment you may not even notice. They also have their own concierge lounge. Many on QM2 will not even be aware of this as it is in the tucked away Atlantic Room. It is more noticable on QV / QE being a roped off area of the Winter Garden or whatever it is called these days. -

I have done a full world cruise on QM. I do not recognise this description of myself or other world cruisers on our voyage. I do not own one designer outfit and never have. In 18 weeks I did not notice any designer dressing. We had cocktails but only those we have had on any other of our numerous Cunard cruises. We do not have a lavish lifestyle - could never afford it - and if anyone else did I was not aware of it from anything said or witnessed. For the record, we had always wanted to do a world cruise. We realised that ambition in the knowledge that financially it would be, and has been, a one off. It was a great and memorable event done to see and experience so much of the world. -

I posted after reading #198. I saw #201 afterwards and noted the comments about hardware being unchanged. The hardware is not an issue for many and indeed is liked but it does not suit us. -
Why is the new Queen Anne so controversial?

Yes and no. I am more than happy to accept that the service and organisation glaring problems and glitches of the early months have been ironed out, as I would expect them to be. I always realised that things could only get better and am delighted to hear it. My big issue is that the ship structure remains the same. The number of passengers, prom deck, Queens Room (both taste I know), insufficient numbers of lifts and launderettes for the passenger numbers, pinch points, reduced size of Britannia class cabins (see Cunards own statistics) with lack of storage and circulation space for 2 especially on longer voyages, changed size and ambience of Club dining, and the issues for non grill passengers in getting around combine to persuade us to use our cash and time on other vessels. A matter of opinion. As these threads show, this is mine, it may well not be yours. Perfectly acceptable and I hope everyone enjoys their experience on the ship(s) of choice. -

Im with @3rdGenCunarder here in that if the 3 oldest Cunard ships are not offering an itinerary to suit we ll go with our other favourite line. Further, we sampled QA and cancelled a much longer cruise. -

We are also looking forward to this. The Azores will be a first time for us after we failed to get there because of the covid lockdown. -

Actually a lady on board QA who is Daimond Cunard and she said the equivalent on P and O said the exact same thing. Of the two she preferred Cunard but would not be back on QA believing that she could get that experience cheaper on a P and O ship. As I have never been on P and O I have no comment on this view - and as has been said before there are varying opinions about Anne, all of them valid. -
We detoured to Easter Island on QM2 forma medi vac with full speed to get there. Awful for the patient who was tendered over to be flown back to Chile some 6 hrs away but a bonus for the rest of the pax as we had an unscheduled sailpast of the island close to the coast with good views while we waited for the return on board of the med team some time later. I also know of one spouse who was helicoptered off with her husband.

What did you do in Holyhead?
Planning to cruise replied to sjf's topic in British Isles/Western Europe
I understand that taxis may be scarce or even non existent although I cannot confirm this. I just know that someone who sometimes vists on business said there are one or two cabs at best and finds it inconvenient. -

I would try if you can to get out of Holyhead to see more than the industrial town. For the boys there is South Stack lighthouse, beaches such as Treaddur Bay and the whole of Anglesey and more awaits. -
You might be taking too many Viking Cruises if.....

You get "personal" birthday greetings from Karine Hagen via video and some crew sing Happy Birthday online as they cant make it round your dining table. The greeting she sent today was one day late in fact but its the first "personal" one Ive had from her and the crew since first sailing Viking. -
