  1. I was on the Edge in November, and the balcony cabins don't really look anything like the rooms on the Edge, at least in Aqua, so maybe new mattress only (new mattresses were loaded in San Juan on Monday).

As mentioned no changes to Sky Lounge, and pretty empty much of the time.

As far as the TV - apparently,  if your device connects with HDMI - you turn off the tv (on the bottom, and plug in your device.  Then turn it on and hold the power button.  A menu will come up and keep pressing to get to source.  Then select HDMI one and away you go.  Apparently a universal samsung remote can do the same.

Have you tried hooking up your device up to the new TV? We were on the Summit in May with the new TV's and didn't have any luck hooking up our iPad as we've always done in the past.

Nope - I didn't bring anything to hook up this time.  My friend did, and I think I'm taking a look at it tomorrow.  Will post what I find out.

  3. We're on the Equinox now.  We're in Aqua, but it's been 2 years since we were in a balcony cabin.  Our friends who were in Aqua last year said that the carpet is new, the coffee table and balcony table both smaller (haven't had room service yet, so I don't know how practical they are, but the room seems to have more space  because of it) and he said the couch is reupholstered.   The TV is also new, and I was told easier to connect your device to, but there was storage next to it that is gone.  It doesn't seem that any storage was added to the room, which is a bit disappointing.

Ocean View looks the same, and Cellar Masters is now Craft social.  The food menu looks a bit smaller.

They did redo Michael's Club - I was able to take a quick peek.  Does look like the one on the Edge.  And they put in the Retreat sundeck, but I haven't tried to take a quick look.

Yes, Blu is open every day for breakfast. The only advantage of the Elite breakfast is that you can get espresso drinks and mimosas, bellinis, and bloody Marys at no charge. If you have a beverage package, you can get all that at Blu.

I think maybe the other advantage is that last time we did on the Equinox (two years ago) it was open until 10:00 and I don't think Blu was.

I was reminded of an option in Notification Settings when I was looking at the page.

Towards the bottom, one of the "Notification preferences" is "Only send one email notification for content I follow until I revisit the community".

If you only want one email until you log in again, then make sure that this one is checked.

Thanks.  I got help and apparently that somehow got unchecked.  When I was trying to figure this out, I never even saw it.

I also believe that only Reflection had Aqua suites.  Even without them, Blu was very crowded on our recent cruise.

We were in a Sky Suite on the Reflection.  We never could get into Blu because it was always crowded (and that was understandable and the right thing to do).  We were told it was because Blu was the same size as on the other S ships, but there were a lot more AQ rooms on the Reflection.

It is 5:00 PM here and I just finished my packing.   There are always those last minute items to drop in the bag like our shaving kits.    Next is for me to get all my Electronics together.   Being a major Techno Silicon Valley Nerd it is incredible what I bring along.

I have read that they have changed the TV's and no longer are they able to be unlocked to use the HDMI.  I'll have to see if I can get the engineering department to unlock the hotel mode.

Let me know if that works.  We were able to get them to set up our DVD player, but we were in a suite and had the MC concierge arrange it.  My sister and I will be in Aqua in August, and I might bring it there too, so it would be good to know if it's worth it.

(And the MC staff thought it was hysterical that we came with the complete:  Harry Potter movies, Star Wars movies, and Lord of the Ring movies.)

Just finished my last walk before the cruise.   I really enjoy walking the the beautiful secluded trails while still in the middle of a major metropolitan area.   I have a number of last minute errands to run this afternoon so kept it down to 12 miles.

and here is my reward at my halfway point.

Trying to identify the Starbucks, while sitting at a Starbucks in Sunnyvale.

Over the past couple of weeks, there have been a number of notification issues, including people getting unwanted notifications. Try resetting your notification settings to what you do want, and see if that helps. Let us know.

They were what I wanted.  I want a notification when new content is posted, and no more until I log in and check.  I woke up to 65 emails from cruise critic this morning.  I want it to behave the way it did last week.

I would prefer not to go to a daily digest, but I might have to do it.  I've got email on my phone and this is sucking up my data plan.

  10. Hi.

Since I've been with Cruise critic, when I've followed a topic, I get an email when there's a new post.  It's always been one notification until I log in and check the thread again.

Starting a day or two ago, I get an email for EVERY new post - even if I haven't been back on.  I'm currently out and about most of the day without the ability to log in and look and by the end of the day I'll have about 80 email from cruise critic.

What happened?  I don't recall changing anything.

  11. I seem to remember that about 2 years ago, Celebrity made an announcement (probably before they announced the Revolution) that in the next few years, all their ships would get better closet space.  I assumed that it would be part of the next, ie Revolution, dry dock.  I'm on the ship in August and kind of bummed about that, since to me, that was the biggest problem in the balcony rooms.

Hello Jenn,  This is John, current MCC on the Eclipse. Bianca is indeed amazing. She is currently on a well earned vacation and will be back in 2/3 weeks. Bianca will be here as Suite Manager so many congratulations to her!

Katya went on vacation a little while ago, unfortunately I'm not sure what her next assignment will be.

I was on the Eclipse in January and I seem to recall that Katya wasn't sure what she was doing next.  And John, thanks for all your help with my assorted issues throughout the cruise (we were the first people to ever stick a DVD into the control computer?)

  13. I once transposed to letters on DH's last name on a flight from SFO to Vancouver (I think).  I should have figured out when it wouldn't add his FF number, but I didn't.  I called United the night before and they pretty much offered to cut a new ticket at today's much higher price.  Bottom line, went to the airport the way it was and he got through security just fine.

Your lucky. More were killed in 2015.  9 Killed When Plane Carrying Cruise Passengers Crashes in Alaska

Its surprising how many crashes in Ketchikan there have been. Just one last year, but nobody killed luckily.

DH said he now really appreciates our pilot who during the off season flies for Delta (so a full time professional pilot).  DH sat up front and noticed that the pilot was watching his surroundings at all times.

Disregard above.  I can't get CC to remove the quote I did to read the whole thing.

I've done LPC on both the Reflection and the Eclipse.  I enjoyed it both times, but see no reason to keep doing.  The food was good, and the presentation amusing once.  I could see going back to Q'sine again and again, and maybe other restaurants to try different things.  But to have the same menu and show over and over again?  I don't think so.    Also, friends pointed out it does make the dinner very rushed.

Your mileage of course may vary.  This is my opinion.

I Just came of the Transpacific on Millennium.

We were told Summit was schedule for extra time  to solve some of these problems and I suspect each time they learn more. I suspect the first Solstice class ship will have similar problems.

They should also make those that do the designs to sail sail on a few cruise first so they know how things work.

    Just my 10 cent observation..

I think the first Solstice class is the Equinox - we're on in August, so any problems will hopefully be fixed.  And the Equinox will be interesting because that drydock was already shortened because of the crane that hit Oasis, causing the Equinox drydock to go to Spain instead of Bahamas.

Last night we were chatting with the Luminae Manager and he said they were revising La Petite Chef to two menus per cruise to give more variety and hopefully get repeat guests.

If the menu is the "dueling tiny chefs" menu from the Edge - it was really good, and much more interesting.

Still, not a concept that leads to lots of repeats.  I might do the Edge one again, but never the traditional one.

Today was another beautiful day with smooth seas.   I got my 4 hours of walking in and then had a light lunch in Luminae.    The official forecast from the Captain this morning was -   Temps 75F (24c), 10 knot winds, and 5 - 7 foot swells.

Clocks were set forward for the first time last night, so everyone was up later than normal.

Fitbit has a strange quirk that it will not update the time from an iPhone unless you put in a city as oppose to just adjusting the time.    I put a list together of the time zones I will be using

    +1  Hamilton, Bermuda

    +2  Nuuk, Greenland

    +3  Ponta Delgada

    +4  Dakar

    +5   London, UK

    +6   Barcelona, Spain

I just leave mine on Pacific time and live with odd results, including getting my 10K steps 2 or 3 times a day.

We are arranging a tour to Volunteer Point with Patrick for January 2021.  Luckily we will be in a top suite so will have access to the 1st tender.  Hope others on this tour can make it off.  One person said they have no status with Celebrity.

I co-ordinated a group on the Eclipse for his shorter tour.  I had 20 people, and 2 had no status.  We had them go with the Elites, and said if asked, the no status wife was with a status husband and vis versa.  It turned out to be no problem, but they all joked about divorces at the pier.
