  1. I'd like to know this as well. We're not sure who in our party may decide to go so I'd rather just wait until the day in port and walk up , rather than booking through Carnival. I emailed Clip N Zip to see if we can just buy tickets that day in port, but haven't heard back. I'm sure someone has feedback. :)

  2. I saw there is a pharmacy listed on the map at the Mahogany Bay cruise terminal. Does anyone know how the prices are and what's available there?

I'd like to get some inhalers for my husband. His are 60.00 here after insurance and I heard that you can often get them for less than 15.00 in some of the ports without a prescription.

    Thanks for your help

  3. Hello,

We booked the Lamanai excursion through Carnival (Believe it was about 115/pp) then saw it through Lamanai Belize Tours for 70.00/pp. I probably would be nervous to go on an excursion that was not through the ship of this length and distance, but I emailed Carnival anyway with the info to get the price match they offer. However they said that although both tours provide lunch, Carnival provides lunch at the Ayinha Eco Park. They also said that the Carnival tour cuts down the travel time by an hour each way to 2 hours. I'm not quite sure I understand this....

But anyway, my question is has anyone ever got Carnival to honor their price protection on a Lamanai tour? If not through Lamanai Belize Tours, possible another company? For almost a 40/pp difference in cost, I really don't care where I eat my lunch. lol

  4. Thank you for all of the help. Estillcrew, I never thought to check the reviews of the Dream! I found a review of the same cabin who said it was wonderful and they had no noise issues. I don't see why the Magic would be much different since I would think the galley above would be laid out the same. I feel much better about it so think I'm going to pack my ear plugs and go for it. Wonder if they will allow you to take a small electric white noise machine on board with you?

  5. The ocean view may be an option if I can't rustle up anyone who has stayed in or near cove cabin 2382. When I stayed in the spa balcony, it was with my mom so my hubby and son have never experienced a balcony cabin before. I really thought they would enjoy it - but I know none of us will enjoy the smell of sewer or banging around all night. lol That's why I was hoping someone who stayed in that cabin may shed some light on the noise and potential smells. Thank you for your help!

  6. I recently booked a November cruise on the Magic. I've been on the ship before in a spa balcony cabin which was lovely, but decided to go for a cove balcony this time around due to pricing. (I had a promotion for the spa balcony last time around but without the promo it's too steep for me and the cove is much cheaper.)

My question is that after booking, I noticed quite a few reviews about sewer smells in various cove balcony cabins - apparently from a vent from the deck above - and also complaints of noise from the dining areas and galley above. Unfortunately the only cove cabins that are left at this time are completely mid ship under the center of the galley so it's not like I could move under the guest services desk or lobby. Has anyone stayed in or about cabin 2382? If so, how was the noise level and were there any issues with serious odors? I did read that apparently there are some quiet cabins under specific parts of the galley but not sure where they are located.

I have lupus so a lack of sleep can really send me into a tail spin. My only other option since we have 3 people would either be to upgrade to a much more expensive cabin or downgrade to an interior on the Rivera deck and I'd prefer not to do either. :(

    Thanks for any advice!

  7. On the topic of snorkeling and weight, I've always snorkeled from the beach but never went on one of the catamaran's but am thinking of trying it on our next cruise. My concern is that I'm over 250 pounds and have a bum knee so I'm worried about getting out of the water and back onto the boat. Are the steps on these boats typically ladders that go straight down or steps? How far do the steps go down into the water?

I don't want to be embarrassed if I can't get back onto the boat. lol

  8. I agree with the others and think this port is mainly a beach day. We've been to Grand Turk many times and the island is pretty void of "must-sees". Unless you're into diving/snorkeling, in which case you will want to take an excursion out to the wall which is a trench in the ocean that makes for great dives. We did a semi sub excursion once over the wall which was a nice compromise for those of us who don't want to snorkel or dive. We were able to see the wall and all the marine life underwater. We even saw a few barracudas and a sea turtle. It only lasted a few hours and left right from the pier area so left us plenty of time to relax at the beach and Margaritaville afterwards.

Personally, we usually give our wallets a break at Grand Turk though and just enjoy the free beach with chairs right to the left of the pier when you walk off the ship. There's plenty of shade and chairs, a roped swimming area, and you can walk over to Margaritaville to use the pool/loungers for free if you get tired of the beach. We may buy a drink or two at Margaritaville but will just pop back on the ship for a lunch break if we're feeling hungry (and cheap!). There is also a bathroom and changing area by the Margaritaville pool.

We've walked up the beach to Jack's shack before and thought the atmosphere was nice, the food was ok, but I'd just rather park myself in a lounger right by the beach at the end of the pier with a good book. :)

  9. Thank you for your help. I think that's a great idea and probably exactly what we'll do.

I personally enjoy just driving around the islands and getting an overview of the scenery, people, towns, etc. We did something similar on our way back from Coki Beach in St. Thomas last trip. Our taxi driver asked if we were interested in doing some shopping and site seeing since we still had a few hours to kill, so for an extra $20.00, he gave us a nice tour of the town, stopped at a few scenic overlooks, showed us his daughter's school and even drove through his own neighborhood. We learned a lot about the daily life of the locals including how expensive the utilities are (which is really surprising), the foods, politics, and the economy. He even stopped by a few of the nicer shops in town and waited while we browsed. $20 bucks well spent!

  10. I just saw another thread that said they negotiated a taxi price of 15pp which sounds much more reasonable...so ignore that part of my question. lol

Now if anyone can offer any suggestions for something else we may be able to see or do in conjunction with our visit to Screws, even if it's just a scenic overlook for some photos, it would be appreciated. Thank you.

  11. Hello, we will be visiting Dominica for the first time in March on the Pride. It looks like a beautiful island but due to a health condition which can make me short of breath/weak at times, I'm hesitant to try any of the tours that require hiking or swimming. We thought we might enjoy a relaxing afternoon at Screws Spa. Can anyone tell me the approximate cost of a cab from the port to Screws? (One of the threads mentioned 75.00 round trip but I thought that sounded incredibly expensive.)

Also can anyone recommend anything we can do either before or after the spa? Maybe something that is on the way to/from Screws that we could tie into our day?

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.
