  1. Now i'm pissed. I just found on Rewards for good my order status and it still says "Pending" They haven't even processed my order yet. ***??? Its been over 2 weeks!!! They have my money and its posted in my bank account but 2 weeks later status is still pending??

I did recieve an email 4 days after I placed the order that says this.....

    Reference #

    Dear Rewards for Good Member,

Thank you for placing an order with Rewards for Good.

No where in there does it say CALL TO CONFIRM or REPLY TO CONFIRM.

I am sorry this is happening to you. Obviously a call is in order. I received an email confirmation and then a day later I received an email with subject "Response Required:AARP rewards for good" which said I had to call to verify. No email verification allowed. It also says the order will be canceled if it isn't verified in 72 hours. Good luck!

  2. I"m tired of waiting for my cards to be mailed to me. I ordered some cards over 2 weeks ago and still no delivery or tracking number. I did get an email from Rewards for Good 3 days after ordering them that because of the $ amount they would be mailed signature required. Someone is always home at my house but mail man hasn't brought them.

I ordered my cards on the 9th and I got them on the 12th. Delivered by UPS and I had to sign. I also order some on the 10th and they wont be here until Tuesday because of the holiday. You can call AARP and they will email the tracking numbers or you can look online to see if they were shipped. I received an email that I had to call and verify my husband's order. The rep said that the tracking number would be on my account and I would receive an email that they were shipped. When I told her I didn't receive an email for my order she sent it to me. I have placed 4 orders and never received an email with the tracking numbers. Just the one she sent me.

  3. We tendered from our ship to Belize city. Then we met our guide and he walked us over to a group of people and after some time waiting we walked about half a mile over to a small dock where we got on a small boat. That boat took us to the different snorkel sights and then to a lunch spot. Then they took us back to Belize city where we walked back to the pier and tendered back to our ship. On our excursion there were people from several different ships. One couple was so worried about the time that they literally ran back to the pier because they were afraid the ship would leave without them. Their ship was the last to leave I believe and no one else from their ship seemed concerned.

Thank you for the info. I have emailed back and forth with shore excursioneer and they have reassured me that we will be back to the ship on time. Do you remember if your tour was the full 5 hours? What time did you tour start? I was surprised to see Splash Waves same tour cost more on their site.

  4. We followed the instructions to the tickets we printed. There was a man waiting for us and he walked us to where we needed to be. You have to walk a little bit because they are not allowed to set up inside the port area because they don't work with the cruise ship. Don't get nervous, it all worked out great.

Can you tell me when you did this tour through Shore Excursioneer did you have to take the water taxi from Belize City to Caye Caulker or the boat you got on in Belize city was the one that took you to all the snorkel sites? The issue I am having is the Carnival always stays on ship time which is the time of the departure port (Port Canaveral). So when we are suppose to be in port 8am-5pm that is really 6am-3pm local time. The first water taxi leaves at 8am local/10am ship time which greatly reduces our time for this tour.

  5. BELIZE: Tuesday 8-5pm

I had set my alarm for 7am but was wide awake at 6:45am. What is wrong with me? I'm not a morning person. Someone has taken over my body! Kendra was up shortly after me and we all headed down to the buffet for some breakfast.

The scrambled eggs were a little better this morning but I opted for some french toast...just in case. THERE WAS NO BACON POLICE THIS MORNING! Say what??? Did an irate passenger capture them and tie them up for the remainder of the cruise? We could only hope! I loaded up...and no I don't waste any of it. Bacon=heaven and I don't eat a lot of it at home so this is my "treat" week.

We were pulling in on time and the birds were welcoming us. Sakari believes she's a bird whisperer and brought them in closer to the ship.

    IMG_2485%20copy-L.jpg

We headed back to the room to grab our things and knew that we needed to meet in the theater for our excursion.

On the way there, Sakari left another friendship rock.

We needed to meet at 8:30am and I didn't want to be late. Kendra is getting a little better at being closer to "on time" for things these days. Not necessarily "on time" but "close to".

We booked the Snorkeling Wonders of The Barrier Reef Excursion with Carnival. Now everyone knows that I normally DO NOT book excursions with the cruise lines if I don't have to. There has to be a good reason to book with them (for instance in Belize, since it's a tender port, some excursions booked with them will leave directly from the ship and no tender needed).

This excursion did leave directly from the ship and we did not tender over. However, this would not be the reason we decided to book with Carnival. We booked because there was NO local vendors that went to where we wanted to go: Rendezvous Caye. Seriously...no vendors at all other than the cruise ships. I wonder how they managed that!

Previously we booked with a local vendor to go to Goffs Caye, which is very similar to Rendezvous Caye. They both are very tiny little islands situated in the middle of no where. They are very primitive but I believe that Rendezvous did seem a little nicer with more there than Goffs.

So, I just knew I had to go there. The price of the excursion was $74.99 per adult and $59.99 per child. I personally don't think that it's too bad of a price but did know that it didn't include anything other than transporting you there and back and the snorkel equipment if needed. There's no lunch or beverages included. But to experience this place was worth it because I truly enjoyed going to Goffs Caye last time.

The excursion is supposed to be for 4 hours and everyone knows that when you take a ship sponsored tour, traveling to and from is included in that time. Therefore making the time at the island extremely short. This is another reason that I never book ship excursions.

They did have food, snacks and drinks available for purchase there.

It was supposed to be a 40 minute boat ride each way.

I loved your entire review. We are going on the Magic in April and your review was perfect to get me ready for all my planning. I realize you went with a ship excursion in Belize so I am not sure you will be able to answer my question or not. In the Funtimes it states that the ship always remains on port of departure time not local time. So for Belize we are in port 8am-5pm. Do you know if these times are still ship time? So it is actually 6am-3pm local time?

  6. You should go look at the deck plans on the Carnival website. Either that or talk to a PVP or agent that can assist you with this. I picked out 3 balcony cabins for my group on the Magic and examined the deck plans to make sure none were right on top of a hot tub. This was especially important since we were on deck 6. I went with my agent's suggestions, which was perfect. Everyone was happy.

I have been looking at the deck plans. Since Deck 5 has no cabins I can only reference stairs and elevators. Do you mind sharing your cabin numbers so I can use them as references?

  7. We will be cruising on out first Carnival cruise in April. I have narrowed the cabin location to deck 8 because I like to be between other cabins. Can someone tell me the span of cabins on deck 8 that would be above the hot tubs? Do you hear a lot of noise on the balcony from below? I realize every cruise is different and anytime of the day can be different. I am currently looking at cabin 8349.

  8. We were on the Allure 1/8 and you could purchase the dining package up to Day 2. We were lucky enough to be allowed to do it with Supervisor approval on Day 3. I think it had something to do with 8 of us purchasing it, however just my thought.

Sorry for all of the questions. Do you know if on night one were they offering discount at specialty restaurants. I know they sometimes do this. Thought that might be a good night to go to hibachi since it is not part of the package.

The package says you have to eat at a restaurant on night one or two.

    Thank you!

  9. Thanks for the info. We will be getting on Vista on Jan. 22nd :)

Would love to hear your comparison of the Allure and Vista? We just got off the Allure and were thinking Vista for next one. The Allure for us was only so so.

  10. I wonder how many parents want servers bringing alcohol around the kiddie pool? No doubt views vary, but perhaps it's disagreeable to enough people to discourage the practice?

We keep seeing threads on staff cutbacks and overwork it what was already a hard work, long hours environment. Some people may need to set limits to keep their sanity. Speculation, but rational.

    I don't like upwelling either.

    Richard.

I can understand what you are suggesting. My husband had the drinking package and I had the soda package. Would have been nice to order a soda while supervising my children. On the flip side, people are going to drink if they want to drink. I'm sure plenty of parents left their children to order a drink at the bar because no one came by. I was spoke to for having an ice cream and sitting with my feet in the water. Someone next to me with a glass bottle wasn't.

  11. I'm curious as to the drink prices. Can you tell me what the price was for most frozen alcoholic drinks and also if they still have the drink of the day & what the price was for that? That's usually quite a bit cheaper than the regular prices. Trying to decide whether to get drink package. Thanks.

Most of us had the drinking package. There was only a few times we noticed an extra price. In Chops and I believe 150 and Giovanni's there were a few glasses of wines that were $14, but there were $12 choices. Bow and stern's and Boleros drinks were $12. We never paid more for drinks. Also we were told they always put top shelf up to the max and not well if your on the package. My SIL asked for top shelf and that's the answer she was told.

We asked about drinks of the day and were told they don't have that. This was my first time on Royal so I knew no different.

  12. We were on the Jan 8-15 Allure of the Seas. There was 10 in our group, 4 cabins. I would rate this cruise a 6/10. We were not impressed. Two cabins had sailed with Royal before, two first time.

Pros: Beautiful ship. Loved Central Park. Loved that as big as the ship was and full, never felt crowded. Specialty restaurants were wonderful

Cons: MDR food not so great. Staff not very friendly, outgoing. On more than one occasion we were told not my job by staff. (ie, spilt something on pool deck asked a member wearing a white shirt if they could help me clean it up. Was told not my job need to find a person wearing a black shirt. Also, my husband was putting a room service tray out in the hall, staff passing by with empty tray cart. He asked if she could take it. She said no, leave it on the floor, I don't pick up the trays.) Way too much selling and soliciting. Walking out to the Boardwalk for OceanAria and there is 3 spa staff asking if you want to buy a spa package. And would ask every time you walked by. They were also outside shows and MDR. Did not like this. No bar staff around the kid pool area for drink orders.

We have sailed Disney, NCL and now RCCL. I wanted to try the mega ship, but will probably not run back to RCCL.

  13. I found an app called Cruise Ship Messenger that uses (I guess) the ships IP address and then you can text family that is using the same app and the same IP address. I'm not sure how you get the ships IP address either.

Is there any other app people have found that works for free? Looking for a way to communicate with family. We are not interested in walkies or write boards on doors, or leaving a message on the room phone. All those require going back to room or going to other rooms (different decks). And walkies I feel is rude to other passengers.

I have read you can get a phone from Royal. How much? Does it work well?

  14. I have two minivan rentals booked. First one is roundtrip to FLL with Alamo for $51 and the other is a one way rental with Budget pick up at FLL and return 1515 Se 17th St Causeway for $63.

Which would be less busy? The plan would be to drop off 5 people and all the luggage and then my husband would return the rental to either FLL or 17th St. Both locations provide a shuttle. Airport is 3.4 miles from terminal and 8 mins, 17th St is 1.3 miles and 6 mins. Of course I realize traffic, ect.

I believe I read that FLL shuttle is constantly leaving, with multiple shuttles going in both directions. I am not sure about the Budget location on 17th St. Also, knowing that a taxi between FLL and terminal is $10 or so, my husband could just take a taxi if the shuttle looks like it is going to be awhile.

    Which is the better choice?

  15. We arrive one day early and need a car. I currently have a car rented to pick up at FLL and return near port and then take the shuttle from there to port. I also have a car rented pick up and return to FLL.

I called the local number of Enterprise at FLL they say there is no shuttle take a taxi. I called the local number to Alamo and she said the shuttle it for all three, Alamo, National and Enterprise.

I guess I will take the chance at FLL since that rental is $30 cheaper then the one way rental. Even if I have to take a cab it will still be cheaper.
