Movies filmed on Harmony of the Seas

I would love to find out where that was in Jamaica because I would so be there!! Haven’t been on the Harmony but have done Oasis, Allure and Anthem. Really felt like I was on the ship. Laughed at the references to the “Honeymoon Suite”!! Was that a GS or was it the OS?? Haven’t done suites. I also loved the scene on the Rising Star bar. I had to laugh at having the same table mates for breakfast. Never did that!! Was that supposed to be Coastal Kitchen?? All in all - it was a cute movie.

    Do you collect Seapass cards?

I have all of ours except for our first cruise on Home Lines ATLANTIC in 1986 (I think they were paper) and our only cruise (and our cheapest cruise - 7 days outside $259) on the MSC Orchestra in 2009. They made me give it up. Not happy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. That's what I figured. And I would NEVER wear them with socks. I'm no fashionista but hey - I have to draw the line. I do have sturdy waterproof walking shoes. I plan to layer.....no shorts and T's for this trip. Thanks for the advice!
  4. In August we are going to cruise Norway and the Baltics and do a stop-over on the way home in Iceland. I am planning to wear my sneakers (trainers) on the plane since they take up so much room. For those with experience in this region....do you think it will be too cold to wear Teva-type sandals? I've walked all over the world in mine and would be sad to think I can't take them. Do you think waterproof walking shoes are absolutely necessary? Thanks!!
  5. Last year when we were on the Explorer in Lahaina, Maui we had a horrible experience with a rental car. We had a reservation with Enterprise and we got an email after we left Sydney Australia that they were no longer coming to the port to pick up passengers. You would have to take a taxi. So we switched to Alamo. Bad choice We got the first tender and hoofed it to where the shuttle was to pick us up. They had one small shuttle and they were only taking one person per reservation to their off site office up in Kaanapali. Needless to say there were ALOT of ANGRY people at the dock. They left a lot of people in the dust. It took almost an hour for my husband to come back to pick me up (they had only one person behind the counter and one to get the cars) only to drive back up to the north where we wanted to go. Plus they closed early (4:30) and there is no way to return the car if you don't make it in time when they close. Not recommended. AT. ALL!!

    Travel insurance

We have been lucky....never taken out trip interruption insurance and have never needed it. We have had some expensive trips (2 months in Australia/NZ) but with credit cards paying travel benefits we feel we can take the financial hit if need be. Saved quite a bit of money by not paying for trip cancellation. It's what you feel you can handle. HOWEVER - we are not totally crazy. We do have a yearly GeoBlue policy that covers medical and emergency evacuation. That is something we feel we would not be able to take a financial hit from. You need to look at your current coverage and your own financial tolerance.

? About your New England cruise on Anthem

We did this cruise in Late September/October of 2016. The leaves had not started turning yet, but we had fantastic weather - warm. In Boston we walked from the pier to the Fanuell Hall area. Hung out - had a few beers and people watched. Had lunch at Neptune Oyster. Great place!! Walked back and headed to Harpoon Brewery - right across the street from the pier. We've been to Boston so many times that we don't need to "see the sights". In Portland we walked the town early from the Victorian Mansion to the Observatory. Did the Lighthouse Lovers Tour through Portland Discovery. The only time we were cold - it was freezing on the water. We had lunch at Eventide Oyster. Another amazing place - try to get a seat at the oyster bar. Dinner and a show. Headed back and went to Shipyard Brewery - again close to the pier. Yeah - we like oysters and beer! And walking!! In Bar Harbor we took the free Island Explorer bus to Acadia. Scout out their routes before you go. We hiked one of their easier trails for a couple of miles. We had a late lunch at the West Street Café. Lobster rolls of course, some oysters and whatever local brew was on tap! In Halifax we rented a car from Enterprise at the Scotia Square Mall. We walked there but got a ride back to the ship. We did Peggy's cove and found a random lobster pound for lunch. Just drove around enjoying the scenery. We were going to rent another car in Saint John but DH was tired of driving. Instead we walked to the "Reversing Falls" There is a red brick harbor front path - very easy. Took a different path heading back and got a little lost walking the town but made it back ok. Lots of hills!! Went to the City Market and had poutine. YUM!! We hit Saint John Ale House before getting on the boat. On board we hit all the shows. Missed doing the bumper cars but did the skydiving and the puzzle room. Make your reservations way ahead of time. We only did two specialty dinners - First night done right BOGO. Wonderland and Chops. Hoofed it to the restaurant as soon as we got on board to make reservations. We ate at all the restaurants in rotation - I know they don't do this anymore. We really enjoyed that. Loved this cruise and was planning on doing it again this year but our first grandchild is due in early October. Next year!!

    Dining in Fort Lauderdale

Love sitting outside at 15th Street Fisheries.....great way to spend an leisurely lunch watching the boats go back and forth and the bridge go up and down!
  9. I feel for everyone involved!! It’s a once in a lifetime trip and we would have been devestated. We were on the Radiance last year (with Merion Mom) doing the NZ and coastal Aussie trip. We were lucky not to be too impacted by the cyclones except for the aftermath to Airlie Beach. We jumped ship for the Explorer TP. Hopefully they get everything up and running for the TP and everyone gets settled into alternate travel arrangements. It’s just a part of traveling..... I too can highly recommend the HI Old Sydney. Great hotel!! And not too far from the culinary school for great meals (William Blue)!

    What's your favorite class ship?

Radiance - hands down. Not a fan of Freedom Class at all. No indoor pool. Voyager is ok. Love Oasis and Quantum for their pools.

    Best Food------Royal vs NCL

We are not quite D+ and have sailed NCL a number of times. Their specialty restaurants are awesome. One of the best steaks DH said he ever had on was at Cagney’s on the Getaway. Ocean Blue’s Seafood was spot on. Le Bistro was hit or miss. Mostly miss. Regular dining was awful. Service pathetic. Yet on the Jade the dining rooms were not too bad. Go with extra funds to pay the upgraded dining.

End of an era- no more Hot Glass Show

One of my most memorable experiences on the Soltice was coming out of Venice watching the Hot Glass Show with Andrea Bocelli blasting on the loudspeakers. You can't beat that combo! We went to every Hot Glass Show they had. While I enjoy the Lawn Club - I'd rather watch the talented artists. Will probably put a crimp in my booking Celebrity. I really have to explore some new lines...time to give Princess a try!!

    Discount for B2B

ChrisJH - we are B2B2B with you on the Reflection. We booked these while we were on our Transpacific early last year on the Explorer of the Seas. Prices were stupid absurd (so much so that my DH nearly pitched a fit on board) but we did get $175 OBC from Celebrity for each cruise. Plus we got our two offers with paid gratuities and $300 OBC. (Oceanview rather than Balcony because those prices on board were even worse than stupid absurd.) Went back to my TA and their group prices were anywhere from 50% to 32% cheaper than what the Next Cruise desk charged us!! Only thing is that we had to pay the full deposit. And my TA applied the $100 B2B credit to EACH cruise and gave additional OBC. Pays to have a good TA!!

Of course I just called them last Thursday to book a shore excursion after being frustrated to no end by their dysfunctional website. Can I cancel and rebook to get the discount?
