  1. Walking distance from pier. Liquid Chef Gastro Bar. OMG! If you want a wonderfully different experience when in Aruba, go to this place! Abraham is the owner and he is a mixologist and he has created a drink menu that will tantalize your taste buds. Some traditional drinks and many of his own concoctions made with nothing but the freshest ingredients. I had a Saoco which was a coconut drink, then his version of a painkiller that makes me want to move to Aruba lol. Hubby had a Rum Fashion(an old fashion made with rum) which was also amazing. Then he had a mango old fashion which he said was good, I don’t do bourbon so I can’t second that. You can tell Abraham what you like and he can create a drink for you. The vibe was great, it is very intimate and you will totally enjoy the experience!
  2. Checking the extended weather forecast for that area and they are calling for 20-30mph on the Haiti side and 50-60% rain Mon and Tues and 15-25 mph and 30-40% rain on the DR side. I don’t have a clue what they base the route on so just hoping for the best! Either way I’m on vacation, on a cruise ship with a drink package and a large oceanview balcony so it’s all good mon! 🙌🙌. Thanks for everyone’s input!
  3. Thank you! I didn’t even think to look at the itinerary map 🤦‍♀️. I goggled with no results. Just watching weather and winds for next weeks cruise but there isn’t much difference either way going down.
  4. Just curious which way the ship goes from Coco Cay to Aruba. Between Cuba and Haiti or between the DR and Virgin Islands? Or Maybe it varies depending on weather and sea conditions? Thanks!
  5. Duke’s comes from Bold City here in Jacksonville. We have several great local craft breweries, a few of which do distribute locally and throughout some parts of Florida and are not yet owned by big beer, not that matters to me either! A good beer is a good beer no matter who makes it but we do our best to support local breweries where we live and when we travel. If you ever sail out of FLL they have numerous craft breweries around town which are good. We try to find one even when in the islands and just found one we’ll try in Cozumel in a couple weeks. CHEERS TO GOOD BEER AND CRUSING!
  6. Condemn me if you must but at least testing prevents those with Covid knowingly going on a cruise and exposing a couple thousand people “because it’s my vacation”. There are some people that have no consideration for others if it inconveniences them. Although I do believe that is the exception not the rule. Testing IS an inconvenience and I totally agree that likely more than half of the passengers arrive in a Petri dish aka as an airplane lol so even though they tested negative 2 days prior could still spread the virus. But if we can all just do our part to at least try and contain the virus until it subsides (numbers are way up again, according to the media 🙄) and I personally know multiple people who have it, had it, or know someone who has it so I do think there’s some truth in it, even though the symptoms and consequences are much milder than it was the first two strains. We just had it a month ago for the first time and we are vaxxed and boosted. Anyway, if taking a test can prevent someone else from getting it or spreading it to multiple people, especially those who may be more vulnerable like my parents who are in their 80s, then take a test. It’s not a big deal. It takes 15 minutes…but I know the ones who still think this is a hoax and testing and vaccines are a waste of time. We’re all entitled to our own opinion. 😁. So that’s mine lol! We cruise in 2 weeks (3rd one since February) and will gladly take our tests and will certainly appreciate all the other passengers that do the same! We are however grateful for no mask mandate! Happy Crusing!
  7. Twangster: just curious what the sailing capacity is on Mariner this week. We leave in a couple weeks and I have checked all rooms types in a mock booking and it is only showing a total of about 8 staterooms left period. No suites, 3 balconies, only guarantee for inside and I think no oceanview. not sure if they have just blocked off a portion or if we are back at full capacity. thanks!
  8. I would like to know this too. We sail in a couple weeks on Breakaway. Guest Services or Comedy Club? Can some one please share? I’ve searched but cannot find the answer.
  9. Heard from a friend who heard from a friend on the ship that the water was so rough they got into St. Thomas 4 hours late, so they stayed overnight and skipped Tortola today. She also mentioned they missed a port because they couldn’t tender, so I’m guessing GSC was the first port and they missed it as well…..I don’t know what their itinerary was.
  10. I tried searching and found nothing recent. Anyone recently (last 6 months maybe) done the Vibe Beach Club on the Breakway? Just curious of current pricing, one site I saw $99 day/per person and another showed $209/week for cabana, assuming per person… and I’m curious if they sell out quickly on boarding day. It’s our anniversary, just did a Royal Caribbean cruise a month ago and the chair hogs were out in full force! We love sea days and try to spend as much time as we can on the deck sunning, reading, drinking so would be a good investment I think for us but I don’t want to stress out about being first on the ship to get in line for this lol. Any experiences with this you can share is greatly appreciated!
