We were there about 5 years ago, got a free shuttle I think into the market area, had a look around . Some bargains if you are game and a real good insight into the locals lives. Then just walked down to a great Khmer restaurant called Sandan, was really great food

Can get a taxi outside the port area really cheap. Think we paid $5 or $10 to get to the north of town and see the famous ruins on our own. Then just walked all the way back to the ship slowly, stopping for lunch and shopping on the way

Not sure where it would dock in ishinomaki. It is a fair walk from the port area to the train station so a bus / taxi would be best. It would be a good 1.5 hours to train into Sendai, so I think matsushima would be a better option and faster to get to. Good temple / sightseeing cruises and food there. Lived in Sendai for a few years and was there a few months ago, as much as I would love to recommend a day trip to Sendai, it would be too rushed
