  1. Then you are agreeing with me, I said they are giving FCC now instead of OBC
  2. That's our usual strategy. Book a cabin at the minimum level at which we are willing to cruise, and then purchase an upgrade to a better cabin once the prices drop to the point that it's only a little more than our original purchase price. We run the risk of our preferred cabin being sold out, but it hasn't happened yet.
  3. This has been true since the restart. In honesty, "no adjustments after final payment" had been the rule since forever, but NCL made so many exceptions that everyone had come to expect OBC after the inevitable price drop. I'm kind of glad they are holding somewhat firmer now. It still seems wishy-washy to me that people routinely expect FCC after they have entered a contract to pay such-and-such price.
  4. We've seen this on all of our post-restart cruises. In addition to some of the other reasons mentioned, I've been told that many of the smaller tour providers went out of business during the pandemic, and getting new ones is challenging. Be patient.
  5. And here I thought this was going to be a Cavern Club thread....
  6. Hint: if the sole is leather, it's automatically dressier than a plastic beach flip flop
  7. What phillygwm said. On my last sailing (Pearl) the $25 BJ table was dealing 6D with about 1.25 penetration. I asked him to cut it a little deeper (doing my best ditzy "that's when I'm lucky!" giggle) and the dealer rolled his eyes a little, but didn't change the penetration 🤨
  8. There is no formal night on NCL. The "Norwegian Night Out," the dress-up-or-not night, is usually the first sea day, but can vary by sailing.
  9. Loved Six, Priscilla, Jersey Boys. Wasn't wild about Choir of Man. I thought Kinky Boots was a little too long. But, as others have pointed out, tastes vary so much... What did they all have in common? Every one of them was a top-notch, extremely professional production.
  10. It sticks pretty close to the movie (a lot of the dialog is the same) but it's about 1000% more camp. The quick costume changes are dazzling. You'll love it!
  11. "My advice to you, start drinking heavily." "You'd better listen to him, Flounder" 🤣
  12. Sadly, once they're gone they're gone, generally -- there's not that many of them. Keep checking, you might get lucky with a cancellation. You might also put the word out in your roll call to see if someone has a cabana booked & is willing to share.
  13. Another one here that tries to book as close as possible to elevators (the Guy has mobility issues.) We generally don't hear a thing other than the occasional loud conversation going down the hall.
  14. I sometimes get the "Glare" from people who think I, appearing able-bodied, should be taking the stairs for my one-flight elevator trip. I wish I could travel with my knee doctor who would stand next to me & explain to all of them about the bone-on-bone mess going on in there. Silly fantasy, I know.
  15. I saw some in my cabin last cruise, although I am of an age where I don't require them any more, so I didn't look closely and therefore don't know how many there were. Request some from your cabin steward if you need them. Public facilities might be a little more hit-and-miss.
  16. Which ship? We were on the Pearl last month, they happily allowed us to use dining credits at the sushi bar. 1 credit = 4 sushi rolls. That was plenty enough for us to split & be perfectly happy, so we ended up eating there twice to use up the 2nd dining credit. They also brought us miso soup & seaweed salad & stuff, which probably should have been upcharged, but they didn't actually charge us anything. tl;dr: yes, you can use dining credits at the sushi bar & eat well
  17. They'll try to steer you to the buffet, but one of the MDRs will be open; just ask which one. The Local will also be open, but it's always been quite crowded in my experience.
  18. It's not trendy, it's been done that way forever. The acidic juice prevents the fatty avocado from oxidizing & darkening. But if you don't like it, no big deal, you'll probably finish it before it can get very dark anyway.
  19. Even if you don't want much in the way of customization, it's the freshest guac possible, which is delicious.
  20. Poopouri. Also Fresh Wave spray. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Q62MLYT Sharing a tiny bathroom with a romantic partner during a week of eating a lot of rich food... well, it kind of demands it
  21. There are reports that some other cruise lines hang on to all the charges incurred in port & then ring them up all at once after they get out to sea. That is, they serve you a drink at 3pm while you're still in port, but the charge doesn't appear on your account until 9pm, long after sailaway. Presto, tax avoided. Not legal, but to my knowledge, no municipality has gone after these cruise lines to try to enforce tax payment. It would be an interesting lawsuit.
  22. They won't punch holes in the newer cards, as it disrupts the electronics; she may want to convert to a plastic sleeve setup.
  23. On the rare occasions I've had to go to the medical center, there was hardly a soul around. Not noisy.
  24. I also have both, for similar reasons that others have reported. I keep the book in the safe & carry the card on excursions. I also use the card to fly domestically, since I haven't gotten around to getting the Kansas Real ID driver's license yet.
