  1. This was super helpful! Booked today and choose the app plan but wasn't sure what that bought. Thanks!!
  2. Thank you for your reply. Sounds fun!
  3. I just booked with reduced air and took the day of cruise option. That’s scary! They “guarantee” we will make the cruise by using their air and transfers. Hmmm. Hard to control weather, etc. you may have made the better decision!
  4. Hi all, Weve been on a cruise hiatus for a couple years but our college aged girls want to squeeze one in post New Years. Found a nice 5 day out of PC on the Sun and the add on reduced airfare makes the deal pretty spectacular! The pics post dry dock look great. My question is really around nighttime entertainment. We’re a meet for cocktails, speciality dining for dinner family (and that seems to be covered nicely), off to an outside themed deck party - the girls LOVE 80’s night, white hot, Glow, etc. Then it is usually off to Howl at the Moon to close the place down singing along. My daughters will be friends with the entire entertainment staff by day two! Maybe end the night with a chicken wing or two at O’Sheehan’s then very late to bed. Do you know if the Sun has outdoors deck parties? What might compare to Howl? Any piano bar at all? Our last cruise was on a RCL mega ship and we thought evenings were a total bore. Bars all closed by 11 or 12 and dance floors were full of toddlers and young children - at bars... We know we love the Away class ships but we don’t want to do a week long cruise. One daughter reports back early for college sports so her breaks are short and precious. Would appreciate any input from Sun veterans. Thanks CC family!
  5. I’m reading that NCL announced an end date of the Open Bar concept on the Sun this fall. No one at NCL knows of this... using a perk to upgrade to the new Premium Plus package. Not sure what will be by January? Any insight?
  6. If I’m understanding you guys, the initial price was shown lowest PP rate and when I clicked on that I got a cabin rate with taxes, etc? I thought they were apples to apples pricing. Makes more sense now! Thank you.
  7. Working on a post New Years family cruise. Not sure about MSC based on reviews but thought I should at least check out pricing. How’s this for misleading? Search for dates and ports then click on the box that reads “starting at $449pp” for my selected cruise dates and port only to see that interior cabins start actually at $1262? That may be a great price so why offer it in the search results at 1/3 the actual price? I’m not sure I’d sail in a suite for the initial offer if $449 on MSC based on reviews but must admit, the search results are quite misleading.
  8. Cancer is not a result of one’s own actions... talk about “all about ME!” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Bad advice. Do escalate and let us know how it goes. Companies can be compassionate. Let’s hope NCL is so. I’m sorry and Take good care! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. People who cannot afford the full cost of a cruise, which includes service charges, should choose a different holiday... I think the key word in the above is “cheap”. Being cheap on the backs of those who serve you just isn’t right. Period. Justify it how you may! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. You guys sound awesome! Can’t wait to hear about your adventure. Enjoy!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. That’s it, stick it to NCL! No. Wait. You are actually sticking it to the wonderful workers who will bust their tails to provide you service all week. That must feel great!! Go you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I made my DH bring a jacket on HOTS this summer but he didn’t end up wearing it. There were some very nicely dressed folks but more a bit more casual like us. I think if you are wanting formal pics, that’s a nice touch. otherwise not necessary. Enjoy! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Following! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Get the 5 night package for 5 nights of speciality dining! Such a value and huge upgrade in both food and experience from MDR. So many great choices!! Enjoy. Can’t go wrong. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. You just may want to check to verify if the policy is primary or secondary. It is likely secondary meaning you pay up front, regardless of costs, file with your own insurance then submit a claim to the secondary carrier. Ugh. I learned this the hard way with NCL offered insurance. Thank goodness we had a very high limit credit card along with no balance. Not sure what we would have done to pay the ship or surgeon or hospital in St Thomas. It’s been two years and we are still trying to settle. We paid the hospital in full then my health insurance submitted payment to them too. Still don’t have it back... good luck! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Or pay his owed child support versus cruising. Resentful ex? Smh. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. That’s hilarious!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. This thread is hilarious!! Made my morning. OP, sounds like you are taking good care of the elders. A cruise to remember for sure! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Another KW/Coz. But I don’t think you will get any alternative votes... enjoy!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. The amount you are willing to pay IS the class difference. No different than flying. Yes, the distinction between classes of service are swelling. The more they offer of a higher end experience and cost, the more distinct it will become for those not willing to pony up for that experience. It’s personal choice but wasn’t that the same as before? Pay the cost, upgrade your “class”. Or not... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. We did the 5 night Dining package on HOTS this summer. It brings the cost per meal down and we think it is much preferred to MDR on experience and food quality. Hope you make it to Wonderland!!! We won’t forget it- a favorite vacay memory for sure!! We did our first RCI cruise this summer. The ship was spectacular but we found it lacking in evening entertainment and certainly late night food options. We’re night owls so that was a family let down. No deck parties, 80s night, glow party, no outdoor evening fun at all. Look forward to hearing your perspective! Enjoy!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I hate the thought that someone is making those terrible RCL desserts from scratch! We found speciality restaurant quality exceptional on RCL, nearly as good as NCL but though the MDR was below average. Would not “pay” for it for sure. To be honest, we didn’t enjoy NCL MDR either... banquet dining isn’t for us. We found desserts pretty lacking on RCL even in speciality dining. Assumed they were premade for sure. 24. I feel lucky to be alive after the poor treatment received by a ship’s doctor. I was left onboard for 2 days with an obstructed esophagus. Should have been med-vaced off. But the MD on board didn’t think it was serious enough. Ended up spending 5 days in the hospital back home after surgery in St. Thomas. Truly scary. My experience, you go to them for bandaids...
