  1. It is Berlin and I guess this airport will never be finished...
  2. Another question: do we have to join the muster drill on the second leg? Thanks!
  3. I saw language classes on Jewel of the Seas in June. The cruise director did an italian class.
  4. We booked the transfer with Royal Caribbean on the same day of the cruise. They brought us with a private car to Southampton. The drive was 1:50 hours. The way back we went by bus, it took us the same time or maybe a few minutes more...
  5. I also did a transatlantic on Splendour in December 2014 (Barcelona to Santos). In 2017 I sailed around South America (from Valparaiso to Buenos Aires and Santos) on the Rhapsody of the Seas. Two of my most favourite cruises :-) I would like to do it again on a RCL ship. My say do it again some day...
  6. Following this interesting thread :-)I will be on the next sailing on Indepencence otS. Could you tell me something about the entertainment in the following days? Is it very british? We are from Germany and so it may be difficult to understand comedians...
  7. My guess is Nov. 21, 2020 :-) I would like to do the reposition cruise and the next one in Florida
  8. I am also waiting for the Odyssey of the Seas. I would like to book the transatlantic and I am interested where it will go...
  9. Of course, I will start to coninue the post and write about the last two wonderful days of the cruise. I have had a lot of stress recently especially the last year and so I don't find the time to enjoy writing my review. Anyway let's start again... 07/05/2018 Argostoli Before the cruise I had never heard about the City Argostoli or the island Kefalonia. It isn't a famous island in Europe and from Germany it is not easy to go there. Because of that I searched many days in the internet to find interesting places to see. I figured out some beautiful beaches, small villages, an amazing lake and many more. We actually decided to visit Myrtos Beach. It is a wonderful beach that was choosen often to one of the most beautiful beaches around the world. So we had to see this beach. Unfortunately I didn't found an independent excursion to go there. RCCL offered an excursion to the beach but the excursion was sold out when we entered the ship. Uff :-( So we talked to our amazing Diamond Concierge and the tried to book the excursion for us but it failed too. But she has a perfect suggestion, because she knew a very friendly family from the U.S. and let us get to know each other. So we decided to leave the ship together to catch a taxi to the beautiful beach. It worked perfect and we bargained with to taxi drivers. The only disadvantage was that the taxis in Kefalonia weren't cheap, but it was okay. We did a tour to a beautiful lake in the rocks, the taxis drivers led us along the queue, so we didn't have to wait like the other groups from the ship. The lake, the light and the reflection was amazing. After that we spent some nice time at the beach. The waves were a bit wild, but the water was clear. It was a hot and beautiful day and we got to know wonderful people. After our return to the ship we were very tired and got to sleep a bit on our balcony. We enjoyed a perfect dinner and nice conversation in the Diamond Lounge.
  10. I did the last South America cruise with the Rhapsody of the Seas two years ago. I hope they do this itineraries again in the near future. Fantastic cruises and countries :D
  11. 07/04/2018 Mykonos Let's talk about another highlight of the cruise. But by the way this is a very difficult topic? Please don't ask me about my favorite port on this cruise ;) I wouldn't be able to give the right answer. The ports were different but every port was amazing for itself. But ok - Mykonos was something special. I have to say that I love this island. I would like to go back immediately for one week, only to spend some days in this wonderful town, in the narrow streets. The white houses, the roofs, the flowers or plants (e.g. Bougainvillea), the coast, the taverns situated directly at the sea - all these things really impressed me. We took one of the first tender boats and enjoyed the awakening town. The servers cleaned the tables because of the parties on the last evening. The light was gorgeous, we took a long walk through the town, along the windmills and to a small beach. Later we took a taxi to a nice beach, where we were swimming and lying in the sand. A wonderful day. After coming back to Mykonos town we bought some souvenirs, we drank greek coffee and took a tender back to the Rhapsody. On this evening there was a great party because of the special holiday 07/04. It was fantastic to have this experience. A band played excellent music (jazz and classics) and there was a huge cake with the colors of the flag of the United States. We really enjoyed it and after that another perfect dinner. I hope you will like my photos.
  12. Yes, we had also two formal nights. I will continue soon with another two highlights of the cruise :-) Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk
  13. Not really. Of course there were a lot of people but you had enough time to go around and take photos, read the explanations on the boards...
  14. 07/03/2018 Athens: What an amazing city. We were so impressed. Athens was one of my favorite ports but I hadn't think about how beautiful it was to see and experience this city. We booked a tour to see the Acropolis and the interesting parts of the city. Our guide was Jenny, a very pleasant woman from Greece. She told us so many interesting things and background information about the history, the building, the architecture, the greek legends, the city, the ports, the economy. It was diverting and exciting although it was a very hot day in the city. We enjoyed it and were really impressed by the ancient building and the atmosphere in this part of Greece. After the tour we had three hours free time before we took our shuttle back to the ship. I bought a t-shirt in the Hard-Rock-Café, we walked through the streets and tried greek salad, beer and yogurt with honey and nuts. Delicious. I can really recommend to see this city.
  15. You will love the cruise. I often think back to the wonderful cruise and ports...
  16. Yes she was amazing. I would really like to see her again. We will be again on the crossing and I hope she will come back.
  17. 07/02/2018 Korfu: We arrived at Korfu very early and departure was early at 3 p.m. Because of the short time we decided to book a shore excursion. We chose a tour with three interesting parts. First we went to a place called Paleokastritsa. It was a nice village with amazing bays and beaches. Actually we should visit a monastery but the street was washed away by rain and so the bus couldn't take the road. After that we continued our excursion to the Achilleion. It is a palace build by the Empress of Austria (Elisabeth of Austria - she was called Sissi). The palace is situated in the south of the city of Corfu. You can enjoy a panoramic view of Corfu city to the north and across the whole southern part of the island. Finally we ended our tour in Corfu city where we see some churches, a fortress and nice streets with a lot of shops and restaurants. Our guide was a very kind guy from the island and told us a lot of interesting things. Amazing tour. The sail away was amazing and we enjoyed our evening again with a visit in the Diamond lounge, the friendly people there and an excellent dinner in the MDR. You will find some photos in the next post.
