  1. Very much looking forward to hearing about your experiences 👂🙂
  2. Say it ain't so! A Caribbean cruise without Pina coladas? This is a travesty! 😠
  3. Appreciate you doing this. One request..... I've noticed that many people on CC tend to post pics taken when venues are empty (e.g. early morning, etc.) to highlight the ship. I always like pics that really show the onboard experience - not an empty restaurant - people eating in a restaurant. Not an empty pool deck - people enjoying the pool deck. You get the idea. If you would be so kind as to include a few such pics in your Live Review it would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
  4. Maybe a tad hypersensitive? Hank never said anything negative about Celebrity. Praising another line is not denigrating X.
  5. Thanks for the in-depth review. I must admit I was somewhat surprised at your final conclusion that VV was not your cup of tea since the review was, for the most part, very positive. As an older, seasoned cruiser, I've been unsure if VV would be my cup of tea as well. Could you elaborate on some of the things that we older "traditional cruisers" might find disappointing? Thanks.
  6. That is great (except hitting on soft 17)! Thanks for clarifying.
  7. Great descriptions of the ship's features👍 If you have the time, could you discuss a bit about how you spent your days onboard? I'm enjoying reading your posts🙂
  8. Great job! Looking forward to the rest of your review👍
  9. I've got no idea, but it would be a real surprise if BJ was other than 6:5 with dealer hitting on soft 17. This seems to be becoming the new standard, even in Vegas, on other than high stakes tables. I guess we can hope😉
  10. I fully support your right to make your own decisions based on your personal assessment of the risks and your risk tolerance. This is the primary reason I am opposed to Vaccine Passports. It's so easy for a vaccine passport to morph into a "Health Passport" and for your freedom to decide to be replaced by expanding restrictions. Want me to show my vaccination records? No problem, but let's not start down that slippery slope to Health Passports. jmho
  11. Thanks for the overview. I look forward to reading your full review once published. I must admit I've found many of the reviews thus far to read more like advertisements than reviews.
  12. It's important to understand exactly what the CDC is saying. If people actually follow this advice it will kill the cruise industry. Here's the troubling part.... People with an increased risk of severe illness should also avoid travel on cruise ships, including river cruises, regardless of vaccination status. Now here is how the CDC defines people with an increased risk of severe illness........ Cancer Chronic kidney disease Chronic lung diseases, including COPD asthma (moderate-to-severe) cystic fibrosis pulmonary hypertension Dementia Diabetes (type 1 or type 2) Down syndrome Heart conditions including hypertension HIV infection Immunocompromised state (weakened immune system) Liver disease Overweight and obesity Pregnancy Sickle cell disease or thalassemia Smoking, current or former Solid organ or blood stem cell transplant Stroke or cerebrovascular disease Substance use disorders including alcohol I'd wager this list covers an overwhelming majority of cruise line passengers. Just look at the CDC statistics on overweight and obesity..... Percent of adults aged 20 and over with overweight, including obesity: 73.6% or chronic kidney disease..... CKD is more common in people aged 65 years or older (38%) or current/former smokers..... Former smokers represented about 21% of all adults and nearly 40% of adults aged 65 and over in 2018. Current smokers represent about 14% of the US population. It sounds nice to say that people at an increased risk should refrain from cruising..... until you look at the actual impact that would have. The bottom line....... the cruise industry is now totally dependent on customers ignoring this CDC recommendation.
  13. Really??? Here's the CDC's list of who's at an increased risk.
  14. It would be a shame if cruise lines adopted this piece of CDC guidance. I kinda doubt they will as it would likely be the death of the industry. It's a strange situation when an industry becomes dependent on its customers ignoring CDC guidance.
  15. Seems so. I guess older and overweight people who choose to cruise despite this CDC guidance are being reckless.
  16. I thought my point was obvious, but I guess I should have been more clear. Of course there were Covid deaths from cruising in 2020 before cruising was shut down. My point was that since cruising has resumed I don't believe anyone has died from contracting Covid on a cruise ship. I should have included that qualifier.
  17. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think anyone has died from contracting Covid on a cruise ship. I wish the CDC would publish objective criteria for when restrictions are warranted...... for example if an activity is shown to increase the Covid mortality rate by X% these restrictions should be implemented.
  18. My point was that serious gamblers despise these blackjack rule changes. As for serious gamblers on cruise ships..... of course there are. I doubt gambling is the sole reason they go on cruises. I do know some serious players, however, who abstain from playing blackjack at any table with these rule changes - cruise ship or casino, so there are probably fewer serious gamblers playing blackjack on cruise ships these days. You may be right though that casual players either aren't aware of the ramifications of these rules, or just don't care.
  19. I'm glad to hear about the quality of the food. Good news indeed! My lingering concern is how will this concept work when they are sailing at full capacity. I wonder if there will a problem getting reservations at the popular eating venues? Only time will tell.
  20. If you're unfamiliar with blackjack, it's difficult to give a detailed explanation without explaining the blackjack rules. Suffice it to say that these two changes tilt the odds even further in favor of the house. I'm not sure I'd call them inelegant, but they are despised by serious blackjack players. Unfortunately more and more Vegas casinos are adopting these changes on other than high-stakes blackjack tables. I'm disappointed, but not surprised, that cruise lines are following suit.
  21. Looking forward to your report.... Suggestion: You might want to edit out the mention of your travel agent from your first post before a moderator deletes the post entirely.😉
  22. I'm looking forward to your review!
  23. Can anyone explain this??? 6 weeks for mail! I'm not a big fan of the USPS, but they've never been anywhere near this slow. Sounds like someone's throwing the USPS under the bus to cover for their poor performance. I could be wrong.
  24. Yeah, that's a great price! On a TA in November an inside or Seaview cabin is just fine as it will be too cold for a balcony most days. Now if you can manage to keep that bar tab under control..... 😁
