  1. Hope you heal quickly @yorkshirephil, sorry to hear about your niece @Josy1953 feeling bad for the children especially. X Still pretty windy here, but not too bad. No damage except more of the empty house next doors chimney coming down on our drive & a large random plastic box lid has landed in our garden that no one has claimed so far! Ds has a job interview which fortunately has been changed to on line as there are no trains. Stay safe and warm everyone. I’m putting the kettle on if anyone want a drink 😅
  2. @zap99 if you see anyone flying past your window it’ll be my son still out looking for his MacBook charger he left in the library last week! 😅
  3. Odd showers through the day & still a bit blowy. Helped at my friends fundraising meal last night for the towns new xmas lights, which went well. Met another friend for coffee this morning, we ended up having an early lunch of huge local bread, ham & cheese sandwiches with a helping of a delicious curry (coleslaw?). Now waiting for Morrisons to arrive.
  4. Less windy today, but raining. Put the heating on 17 this morning for the first time as it’s starting to damp. The mincemeat is cooking in the slow cooker ended up using the veg suet, found some extra in the cupboard to make up the weight as the well known brand at the extortionate price I picked up is less that 1/2lb now. The cake is cooking in the oven hopefully it’ll be to Siegfried Farnham's liking! Have added walnuts as well as almonds to Delia’s recipe and pecans to the mincemeat, love nuts which is why I make my own shop bought don’t seem to contain them and I’m always disappointed.
  5. Fairly windy here, gusting to 47 mph at Lands End, & rain showers, but not too heavy. Have put off making the Xmas cake in case the power goes, I’ve got 2 bowls of dried fruit marinating nicely with a cocktail of alcohol gifts left in the cupboard, smelling good anyway. Question of the day, anyone used butter or lard for their homemade mincemeat instead of suet??
  6. Sometimes it’s just meant to be, have an amazing time!
  7. Popped up to the surgery this morning & had both jabs, pleased I was offered both after all, thought I wouldn’t be eligible for the c one, must be because of the high done steroids. Nurse looked a bit taken aback when she called me as everyone one else was over 65 going in, she must have been expecting younger patients though as she had both flu types ready. Had a hair cut at my friends salon & have been invited to a girls pre Xmas trip overnight in Devon, got tell hubby now 🤣.
  8. Good morning! Wind not too bad here so far & only a bit of drizzle. Braving the elements in a bit to meet my friend. We might journey in B & M Penzance, or just charity shop & coffee in st Just. We’ll decide when she picks me up. 😆. Have a good day everyone.
  9. Just been catching up, having been cruising to the IOW for a week. Nice to see my mum & sister, had some nice meals out (& a couple of not so great) and lots of cake. Got a few walks in later in the week in between the wind & rain. Sorry to hear some of you are poorly or have been so! Take care.
  10. Good morning, having a coffee between falling over ds bags & boxes that are going in the car later ready to go back to Bournemouth. Unfortunately yet again there’s problems with his accommodation, the 2 students that have already arrived have discovered it’s uninhabitable currently. The back door is smashed, no lock on the other one, it’s filthy, his room is mouldy, the beds are broken, the list goes on! This is through an estate agent so you’d expect it to have been checked between tenants. The lead tenant is dealing with the agent, but no one’s moved in, the others are staying with partners I think. We’re going to the I o W for a week so he could be doing a de tour.
  11. What happened to the sun yesterday? This wind is not nice!
  12. How awful Michelle, hope the surgery goes well. Also sorry to hear you’re both unwell, not the best end to a well deserved holiday. X
  13. I can have a flu jab because of my inhalers but it looks like although I’m on highest dose of steroids & still uncontrolled I don’t qualify for the covid one as I haven’t had steroid tablets. 😡
  14. Only saw the last 10 minutes of the game, went to the first car boot sale in years with my friend this morning (was good only bought a sun hat, no junk). Well done Lionesses 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
  15. So sorry about your sale Michelle @Peanut006 we nearly lost our sale in a similar situation 16 years ago, but luckily someone in the chain who had lost their purchase went into rented or friends to save the rest of the chain, the sales had dragged on & on. Plus we had to race down here to look at this property as the first house we were buying suddenly asked for more money can you believe! Oddly they’re still living there 🙄, totally feel for you! X
  16. Thank you for taking us along with you Sarah!
