P&O Cruisers - What are things like where YOU are?
Caullkhead replied to Host Sharon's topic in P&O Cruises ( UK )
Morning! Today’s my birthday & guess what ds gave us last weekend, 😷 Still feeling pretty ropy & struggling to breathe, ironically I had a text to fill in an asthma yesterday. Absolutely poured down with rain & windy last night, I don’t think we’ve floated down to the sea though. -

@Peanut006 thank goodness antibiotics have been found, what a worry! I’m glad my 2 are adults (almost) now, this time of year was always a worry with bad chests. Oddly my youngest had scarlet fever in July one year & I remember panicking having read little women & famous five! he was fine with 10 days of antibiotics thankfully. -

Morning all, have been madly cleaning the house including shampooing carpets & moving furniture round ready for the Xmas decks to go up shortly. No idea why as not having any visitors this year, it’s a bit like cleaning the oven before the Xmas dinner is cooked why? It’s a lovely day here today, took my friend into Lidl this morning so she could get some Xmas bits before her next round of chemo next week. We both seemed to come back with quite a few naughty treats! Going to write the cards & get them in the post this afternoon, have a good day everyone. -

One of those days today, put on a pot of coffee, but forgot the pot!….., cleaned up that & noticed tissues in the washing machine 😬. We left led Xmas lights on the banisters and have started putting those on as it gets dark, therefore the hall light doesn’t get put ( & left) on. -

Our neighbours farm is raising turkeys, geese, ducks & chickens, last year they had 300 turkeys, but could only get 100 chicks this year, so definitely a shortage. There’s actually 1/2 the turkey butterfly I bought last Xmas from our local butcher, it was larger than I wanted as we have pork, but I like to have some turkey for cold, so I chopped it in half & there it still is. I’ve done that before as I’m not very good at asking for half! 😬, he’s a great butcher & always goes out of his way to choose a decent cut. I end up coming with what feels like half a pig at Xmas with sausage meat & chipolattas. -

Ds took his first National Express today, Bournemouth to Cambridge. First coach late into Victoria due to said protesters, missed his connection by 5 minutes, no one at the information desk to help, had to fork out £30 for new ticket Victoria to Stanstead as no through coach to Cambridge. Next connection due hr late so he forked out another £12 got train rest of the way. He’d already had to work travel around train & tube strikes. Hopefully his return on Thursday will be better! -

Well our new log burner is sitting in the hearth waiting to be installed, we need a new flue liner so who no when it’ll be. Our preferred chap can’t do it till sometime after Xmas hoping he’ll come & quote in the next week, have another who has given us a ball park figure going by our info we’ve given him, waiting for him to come & look in person too, so this is Cornwall where everything is done dreckly, let’s face it we asked a plumber to quote for a new heating system 14 years later still waiting! ( we did get someone else in case you’re worried 🤣) Our hob is bottled gas so no worries there, have loads of candles as my kids & dh keep buying me scented ones that last forever. We used to get power cuts all the time here, not so bad now though. -

I’m back too! Scary moment there 😱. @grapau27 always a hard day, but enjoy the happy memories you will have today no doubt you’ll play a bit of the music he liked & bring out some photos. 20 years for my dad next February 14 th. Today is 32 years since dh & I first date, he took me to see Ghost. He picked me up in his rickety mini van, we had to stop half way so he could mend the heater, I e put the hose back under the bonnet! I was a bit shocked as we met at the local Ford dealership at the launch of the new XR2 & I thought he drove a new car! 🤣 Some years of many minis & passing spanner’s, we’re still together, no mini now though. -

So glad I’d got home quick from walking the dog, just had hail, huge balls if the dog had been out she’d have been off home with me towed behind on my face! No trick or treaters last night, glad I bought chocolate this year not sweets 😅, wind was way harder than forcast last night, lots of recycling blown about I noticed , dragged ours back in to its little sheltered spot last night so it didn’t end up everywhere, bin man kindly came in & got it as they come really early. We don’t have a big bin, but those horrid bags which I’ve stopped using & have gradually collected a few of the big plastic boxes instead, much better when we were all washing our bins after each collection!, & they don’t get mixed up with everyone else’s. Keep dry & don’t blow away today everyone. -

It’s St Just Feast weekend here, so lots of locals will have today off to drink & play or watch the various sports Rugby, clay shoot, local hunt have ridden past to meet in the square. Of course it’s the church feast really celebrating the consecration of our c of e church. I’ve been celebrating by trying to clean the bathroom ceiling , no matter how much it’s aired it still gets mouldy, so I’ve been wielding a broom covered with rag trying to bleach it, hope I haven’t damaged it because obviously I’ll need it for flying tonight! 🧹 When our kids were little they were only allowed to knock on a few friends doors in the valley. Most only go to people with pumpkins lit, seems to be the unwritten rule. I’ll put a bowl of treat size milkways out on the door step, saves them knocking, done that since having our first baby so no disturbance than, hopefully no one will come so I can eat them of course! -

we’ve still got draws full of cd’s which rarely come out, used to download them on the iPod, but ds introduced us to Apple Music so we tend to use that. However we have been re collecting our vinyl after getting rid of them 16 years ago to the charity shop ( after transferring them to mini disk, remember them?) Dh has picked up several decent turntables, including a seventies Sony music centre, similar to one I had handed down to me via my sister, which sounds great although it’s a beast! I used to laugh when dh said vinyl sounds better. I had a cd separate (Sony) before him, but have to agree there’s something about it. Tape? no!! -
