WOW..great news that you are trying O..as I know you 2 have been big X fans for a long time. I was just on Vista in October and thought it was wonderful. DH and I have sailed O along with X for quite awhile but the increase in prices on X just seems to make O a better value IMO. I'm be anxious to read what you think after the cruise!!

We thought it was great as well!! And the "starters" were good as well!! A real plus in my book as an option for dinner!!

I've considered taking the Greyhound bus but I have a friend whose sons use the bus back and forth between SD and Irvine and they have had a lot of trouble with late departures, cancelled trips and change of times without any notice. So that doesn't seem to be a great option.

Just curious...what age do you consider "geriatric"?

I received the confirmation that the $250 had been applied to my account. But it is not showing up on "My Reservation" on the website. A rep told my TA that it would be applied when I checked out on the reservation form for the excursion. Was this your experience? Thanks!!

I've seen you on the X boards over the years. I understand your unhappiness!! The MDR on X is really not very good at all now and even Aqua Class food is not as good as it was when that Class was first offered. And the prices have gone up so much it really doesn't seem that much less expensive than O if you book AQ or above. If you book The Retreat it's crazy $$. I'm also really not keen on the entire "carve outs" of different dining areas/pool/bars etc. Will be interested to hear what you think after your September cruise. Please let us know!!

Since you live in Nevada are you 2 or 3 hours behind EST? You could log in at 9 or 10 PM depending.

Kenneth and I did a Viking River cruise for the Xmas markets years ago...as in '05 or '06. Kenneth loved Xmas and it was a very special cruise...enjoyed the markets, the mulled wine and the entire 'holiday vibe". We ended in Vienna on Xmas Eve and then took the train a couple of days later to Budapest. That was just like a scene out of Dr. Zhivago with snow on the hay bales!! They had older ships then and the Capt didn't speak English. When Kenneth ordered something hot for breakfast on the morning of disembarkation we were told they were not serving a hot breakfast because the cook was helping load the luggage!! I'm pretty sure things are a bit different these days!! 🙂 But I think you would love the experience.

I'd like to try Explora..the ship looks wonderful and of course having Heike in charge will make it fabulous. How are you finding the prices compared to AZ and Oceania? So far it seems more expensive...your thoughts?

I find that to be true on the local TV weather news as well!! Sometimes by quite a bit of difference in the temps predicted!!
