  1. Love the penthouse and would not reserve anything smaller. We do make use of the butler a great deal. We generally have breakfast in our room and do have room service from specialties a few times on each cruise. The table may be small; but the butler can serve you course by course. It still beats getting showered and dressed up after a long day of sightseeing. WE have also felt that the cultural exchange with our butlers has been a highlight of our cruises. And, there is no better authority on where to find things and what is happening on the ship than the butler. If he doesn't know, he will find out.
  2. A leisurely breakfast in the MDR (on the days we don't have the butler bring it). Name that Tune in Martini's before dinner. Trivia. Watching the world go by from our balcony. A private tour with an interesting local in just about any port.

    Table for 2

    Never a problem for us
  4. Our TA has always handled the request for distilled water for the CPAP.
  5. First of all, it has no affiliation with O. And, it is not the only service of this type. We have used both Luggage Forward and Luggage Free and prefer the later. Luggage Free provides better customer service, from our experience, and may be a bit less expensive. No, neither allows you to track in real time. We use Apple tags to track our suitcases.
  6. I think the poster has zeroed in on a basic problem. Situations may vary; but for those with limited mobility, the distances that one must walk in many ports of call to get from ship to terminal/buses/taxi is a challenge. Whether it's charter buses, shuttle buses or golf carts, lots of us could use the service. On each of the five O cruises we have taken, I have skipped one or more port of call because I didn't want to face the challenge of the long, painful walk. I don't use a cane or a walker in the "real world;" so, looking at me, you wouldn't think "mobility issue." But, I have enough metal in my back, hips, legs and ankles to make me bionic. As many others have noted, Oceania's demographic is changing. We are aging and the company would do well to adapt to our needs.
  7. Gather all your documentation together before you file and be ready to jump through a few hoops before you get your payment, Persevere!!!
  8. Sirena feels more intimate, and for those with mobility challenges, the smaller ship is much easier to navigate. They are both lovely. I agree that the itinerary should be the key factor in your decision
  9. Have used Luggage Free twice and Luggage Forward once. Both customer service and costs were better with Luggage Free. Will definitely use them again.
  10. Bruges. Take a taxi from the port and have the driver pick you up for return at a set time. Most drivers will not have you pay until they return you to the port. There are bus and horse drawn carriage rides for tours (also canal tours; but you have to walk a bit to them). There are plenty of restaurants on the square, with outdoor seating. So. when you are too tired to walk more, take a seat and order refreshments (highly recommend Belgian beer and mussels).
  11. We did a Tours by Locals full day in Barbados with Deborah Grant. If you are interested in history and a full island tour, she is very knowledgeable. She is a big proponent of reparations, which is a very hot topic in Barbados right now.
  12. Check Tours by Locals. We've had nothing but good experiences with them. Excellent communications.
  13. Last September, we did a small group tour with Tours by Locals with Graham O. Could not say enough good things about Graham. He customized our tour to what the four of us requested. We saw so much in one day!!!! Excellent shore excursion.
  14. La Reserve meals will not disappoint. You will probably meet some nice people there. Do participate in the daily Trivia game. It's a wonderful way to make new friends and laugh a lot. Check Currents to determine when and where various musicians are playing - String quartet, pianist... Don't feel obligated to get off the ship at each port, or to take formal shore excursions. This is your vacation - you are allowed to go against the flow. Get to know your butler and use his services. If you have any questions, ask him.
  15. We had bridge instruction and sanctioned duplicate games on our Sirena TA this year.
  16. We were just in a PH on starboard, aft, near elevators. A little noise from setting up chairs in Waves in the a.m. Not really enough to give a thought to.
  17. Was on the same Sirena cruise with these guys/Team Trivia Champs. We used Tours by Locals in several ports, requesting customization with minimal walking (I have had multiple spinal fusions and my spouse is pre-surgery and uses a cane). Our guide in Barbados was OK - certainly a fountain of knowledge; but the lunch venue was not a hit and she basically talked ALL the time (we got our money's worth in word per minute...). One guide in the Canaries was canceled, when he tested positive for COVID the day before our scheduled tour. Our third guide was in Tenerife, John Reid. He was outstanding - we did the Northwest with him. Aside from school, he has basically lived all his life on the island. It was an excellent tour, with many stops at breathtaking vistas. I bet his choice of small local restaurant was just as good as the one Cristo used. And, as a special service, he delivered the four of us directly to the ramp of the ship, with a gift of a book/novel he has written that is set in Tenerife. Post-cruise, we did another Tours by Locals in Lisbon that turned out to be a bit too deluxe for our tastes; so we did a tuk tuk the following day and loved it.

    Bridge

On Sirena now on a Transatlantic. We have two very experienced instructors. Beginners and experienced players have had separate lessons. Duplicate competition on all sea days. I have met many new friends at bridge here … and won some MP’s.
  19. We also had a tour with a Tours by Locals guide today. We did the Northwest Coast. Just stunning. John took us to one of his favorite hole in the wall restaurants, where we also had fried cheese and the wrinkled potatoes with red and green sauces. We also had garlic mushrooms, a stew of chicken, beef and chickpeas, and grilled octopus. Also some local wine. This is one gorgeous island. Was nice to get off the ship for 6 hours.
  20. Gary is the CD. Tell us about him. Looking forward to sailing on Sirena later this month.
  21. We used Welcome Pickups in Amsterdam and Barcelona for airport to hotel, hotel to cruise ship, cruise ship to hotel and hotel to airport. We were VERY pleased with this service. They have an app that is easy to use, have reliable drivers who drive their own taxis or vehicles. You pay when you book; so there is no worrying about being cheated by a driver. You receive the driver's name, photo, contact phone and make and license of car at least 24 hours before pickup. We plan to use them again in Lisbon in April. Highly recommend.
  22. If you want a relaxed, yet upscale atmosphere, with the perks of a 5-star hotel, Oceania may be for you. Getting ready for our fifth cruise with them and have never been disappointed.
  23. Bring your own dryer sheets They are not provided.
  24. I think it was because I didn't have enough SBC to cover the cost. My TA called and gave them our credit card info (yet again), and a charge was placed on it for the cost of the Prestige package, minus the remaining SBC. Interesting to note that, as experienced as I thought she was, my TA did not think only one of us could purchase the package because it would be easy for people to cheat. I guess that, on other lines, everyone in the same cabin must have the same beverage plan. I appreciate that O treats us like the honest, good citizens we are. Then again, I am sure that, if someone was caught abusing the plan, the result would not be pleasant.
