Princess has a pretty good deal on an 18-night cruise from LA to Chile. Departs Los Angeles on Dec 1st, arrives in Santiago on Dec. 19th. Solo balcony is just $1894 all-in, other than crew appreciation. And it includes $200 OBC.

(Insides and OV are even less, of course!)

You can even extend to Buenos Aires - jus book LA to BA - so 35 days for less than $109 a day interior.

  2. I’m curious as to what the premium desserts will be😃.  I am good with the gelato but would like other options.  I never got the gelato since it was extra and I am cheap.  I wish they would still have gelato choices at dinner but now only lunch. It looks like they are picking up on X on special dining rooms for different classes.  I think a specialty dining package would work out well especially on the larger ships.

  3. Received the upgrade offer for Discovery in October last night.  I bid on three upgrade choices.  Based on what I am reading on this thread the offers are tailored to what someone booked and the starting point varies based on the sold out status of the ship.  The meter of weak to strong is probably more of a marketing ploy than a realistic indicator but we will find out when people start posting their experiences.

I respectfully disagree strongly. There is a full-scale invasion occurring, with plans to expand into former Soviet Union countries. With war in the Baltic and Eastern Europe, Princess will cancel the Baltic cruises. In fact, Oceania just canceled all their Baltic cruises for 2022.

In retrospect it may not have been one of my best forecasts. On the other hand if things expand to former USSR countries that are NATO members there might be much bigger consequences than worrying about cruises.

We have NEXUS/Global Entry, but I wonder what happens when a Canadian approaches the facial recognition?  Perhaps a fail and then do the usual thing.  I would imagine a Canadian without NEXUS/Global Entry will not be in the CBP system (same for other foreign nationals).

All passengers just went through the facial recognition.  Passport information is shared internationally and they pretty much screen all of the info sent from air and cruise lines. It is probably similar to the technology used in Canada when you enter through the Vancouver airport only a bit more streamlined.

My husband retire two years prior to Covid shutting things down.  We went on two cruises a year.  We now have two in December and currently three for 2022.  Once we complete the December cruises, we will see what the offer is for our casino play and we may book something from the summer of 2022.

We both enjoy playing the slots and we have a choice of going to the Indian casinos or playing on a cruise.

Congrats!  I am definitely looking forward to being able to plan like that.

  7. I typically aim for a little over 1k points on a seven day which works out to a few hundred.  Recently I was offered a free cruise but since I am not yet retired could not take advantage of it.  Usually I get the 35% off offer. Twice when I have called my PVP I have been offered the price on the website but also including plus.  The discount and perks usually work out to more than any losses.  Once I retire I am certainly looking forward to taking the offers up on a more regular basis.  It did seem to take a few cruises to get noticed but once I triggered something the offers have been pretty refular.

Finally got an answer for you.  Between Terminals 91 and 93 (on the corner/92) there are these white tents.  It is available to multiple cruise lines.  Cost is not cheap.  Crew sometimes have to use same tent.  Passengers coming and going can use the tent.

Thank you for the info.  Cvs does not have antigen just pcr testing in Las Vegas.  I’m hearing the turnaround is about a day so I have fingers crossed so this will be my backup if I don’t get my result.  A woman on my Alaska cruise did not get her results in time and was able to get tested at the Seattle cruise terminal.  Yeah all of the rules and changing availability is nerve racking.

@4cats4me If there are only 1900 passengers on the Majestic, that would be 53.4% of 3560 which the Majestic carries at full capacity. On last week's cruise 2400 passengers were reported for a 67.4% capacity. I think the stress of obtaining timely testing may have made many passengers cancel. This is probably not something someone could ask about but it certainly would be nice to know. I'm sure the boat doesn't feel deserted by any means, but does it feel pretty thinned out?

When I called to add WiFi my PCP mentioned cancellations had started to pick up again so the occupancy might be going down.  Also as mentioned above she was unaware of ho the elite WiFi package worked in terms of 50% OBC refund.

  10. There are probably a few things going on.  Elites probably have cruise credits to burn and few options.  In my case I had trips to Peru and Greece cancelled so with nowhere to go jumped on a reduced fare casino offer that made it affordable as a solo traveler.  It seemed like there were more elite on the first couple of cruises.

The good news is with fewer elite there shouldn’t be much delay on laundry.

We live in Henderson and the CVS on Warm Springs offers the rapid-result test (antigen), which Princess accepts.  Sunrise2Sunset and Matadams4U:  are either of you on the Sept. 5 sailing?  If so, join our roll call and come to the meet & greet on Monday.

Sorry I will miss you - I am on the September 12th.  Sounds like you are right down the street from me I am at gvp and warm springs.

Are there any Elite passengers onboard this week who waited until you were on the ship to purchase the WiFi?  I know everyone "thought" it had to be purchased before boarding at full price ($10/day/person) and then get 50% back as OBC.  I'm wondering if they are allowing you to purchase it once onboard at $10/day for 1 device or $20/day for 4 devices)?  Or will they charge you the higher price (14.50/day/person?) once onboard and then get the 50% OBC credit?

Thanks for taking the time to answer this.

Thanks for asking - I can’t seem to find on the website or medallion app on how to purchase the WiFi for elite.

Do they change the bill readers on each machine for the currency in use aboard?

They either reprogram or replace.  I remember there was a delay in opening the casino on a transpacific from Sydney where they changed from one currency to another.
