  1. My husband and I are seasoned Royal Caribbean/Celebrity cruisers. I have, however, been looking elsewhere as it seems they do not require all of their passengers to be fully vaccinated and consequently all passengers are required to wear masks indoors. I do not want to take a cruise where I am required to wear a mask the entire time I am indoors because that would not be a happy place for me. Don’t get me wrong, I totally support the wearing of masks in the general public because we don’t know who is and is not vaccinated. I have searched for a line that requires all passengers and crew to be 100% vaccinated before they board the ship and it appears NCL tics all of those boxes. My question for those of you who have cruised recently on NCL is that what was the mask policy on your ship?
  2. The last time we cruised was January 2020 on Majesty of the Seas. Needless to say, such a small ship did not have a Diamond Lounge and RCI loaded 3 cocktails on your card that you could enjoy throughout the ship during traditional Diamond Club hours. My question is that, post COVID-19, are the ships that have dedicated Diamond Lounge accommodations still hold those events or are they still only “loading” our cards with 3 drinks and not holding the Diamond Club events?
  3. My husband and I have almost exclusively sailed Royal Caribbean in the past but have the opportunity to sail on the Norwegian Breakaway in January. I have looked at NCL MDR menus online. The selections seem very similar to what is offered on RCI but that does not speak to the quality of the dishes. For anybody who has experienced both, I would appreciate your input.
  4. We have been avid RCI cruisers for years. My favorite spot on any RCI ship to get away from it all with my book and not have to deal with the crowds during the day is to venture all the way up to the Viking Crown Lounge. During the day there is practically nobody there for most of the time. I can sit up there and people watch or read my book in pretty much seclusion. We have been given an opportunity to sail on NCL’s Breakaway in January. For those of you familiar with this type of ship, can you give me any tips on finding my daytime out of the way places to seek?
  5. My husband and I may be taking our first NCL cruise in January. We are seasoned RCI cruisers but due to lack of vaccination requirements and more importantly geography, we will probably be on the Breakaway out of New Orleans in January. My question pertains to prebooking shows and specialty dining. I have seen posts that suggest we prebook specialty dining and especially main theater show tickets before these events are no longer available. This is totally foreign to me as I have NEVER had any problem finding a seat in the main theatre on any RCCL ship for any show. Is this an issue with NCL?
  6. I was not aware that RCCL requires 100% 12+ to be vaccinated. I am pleased to hear this. To be clear, I am on the side of “I want to cruise on a ship where all the folks are vaccinated.” You really don’t want to hear my opinion of our illustrious governor. I assume the CC boards are at least PG rated so that pretty much eliminates any comment I could make on that situation.
  7. OK, I know that this is probably a rookie question but I cannot find a definitive answer online. When dining in the MDR , is My Time Dining the only option? My husband and I have been on 12+ cruises, the vast majority being on Celebrity or RCCL. On each occasion, we were assigned a MDR table and time. For the duration of the cruise, we dined our evening meal with the same people every night. We have made many lasting friendships with several folks we have met at our table on each cruise. Does NCL offer this option at all?
  8. OK y’all, I am the OP and I really did not intend to cause such an uproar. I am going to keep politics completely out of my response. I live in Florida. Our governor at some point issued a decree that cruise lines could not require folks to prove they were vaccinated before boarded a cruise ship. I then see NCL is requiring 100% vaccination for all crew and passengers. My simple “conflicting information” post was how is NCL doing this with DeSantis’ decree? T
  9. I have seen conflicting information as to vaccine requirements to board a NCL ship. Forget Florida, that’s a separate story…..can anybody confirm the vaccination requirements for non Florida departure ports? Everything I have seen says that NCL requires passengers to be 100% vaccinated. Is this true?
  10. We are avid RCI cruisers and have never been on a NCL ship. However, current situations have made cruising on NCL much more appealing. I have a few questions about their “Free at Sea” program. What exactly does “Open Bar” mean? I assume this means we are given unlimited lower end drinks of house wines, well drinks, etc. Specialty Dining says we can save $160. Does this mean our onboard credit is loaded with said amount to use when booking specialty restaurants? Shore excursions only says “save $50 per shore excursion.” What exactly does that mean? The WIFI portion of the package says we will save $130 on a package. I assume that means we get the low end, very slow text only internet connection. I appreciate your input.

  12. I went to book an Antarctica Cruise for my husband and myself and found that they wanted to charge roughly $500 extra for a fully refundable deposit. Is this a thing with Celebrity? We started with Celebrity but have been with RCCL for several years. Is this something new? I am confused.
  13. We are looking to book an upcoming cruise on Infinity in 2022 and for our needs that cruise, it appears an inside cabin will best suit our needs. While doing my research, it appears by viewing deck plans, that cabins 6901, 6903, 6905, 7901, 7903, and 7905 appear significantly larger than even many of their balcony counterparts. These are not wheelchair accessible cabins. Can anyone confirm/deny this?
  14. Did I miss something on this thread? Has RCI reduced the benefits to its loyalty program?
  15. My husband and I will be cruising on Harmony next fall - our first time on an Oasis Class ship in 17 cruises. I understand RCI designed these ships without a Viking Crown Lounge (What were they thinking?). Since that was our favorite place to spend a quiet afternoon to read and people watch, what other venues on Oasis Class ships do you recommend for said activities?
