  1. I took a chance and booked the stingray excursion simply for the lower price. Our cruise was last month. Other than a wristband that indicated we had the stingray package, and having to pay for food and drinks, there was no difference. We never saw the stingrays. We simply got off of the tender, went straight to the desk to rent an umbrella, and stayed at the beach all day. The umbrella rental was $25 and came with 2 tickets for free rum punch, Bahama Mama or non-alcoholic punch. I was with my 16 year old son, and we had 2 free drinks each. . As I mentioned, you're on your own for food. There is a "hibiscus lunch package" you can purchase which I think might be the same or similar to the "included" lunch with the deluxe beach package. It is $20 per person. There is also food available a la carte which is what we chose. I bought pieces of pizza (they were actually round, 5" in diameter), and an order of fries for $21.28 including tax. There were dispensers of ice water around the seating area. I'll try to post pictures. I didn't get a picture of the a la carte menu but have a picture of my receipt. PS. I'm also from Pittsburgh 🙂
  2. I travel for work and have a Marriott Bonvoy account. I always request a room near the elevator. We were placed on the 8th floor, last room in a long hallway. The room was directly above the pool and outdoor event space. A very loud event went very late, I wanted to sleep. There was a small balcony which I think contributed to the noise. The faucet continually dripped in the tub. Towels were grimy looking. The sink only had hot or warm water. It was an old bathroom with a new mirror. Dirty grout, warped door. Like lipstick on a pig. The bed and sheets were clean and it was only one night. I paid less than $150 with the Travelzoo promo. Had I paid the normal rate of over $300 I would have complained. I’d say average wait times on the slides were 15-20 minutes. Less late afternoon.
  3. The Solarium Waterfall is a new feature and included in your cruise fare.
  4. Yes it looked like they were all taken. The cabanas appeared to have bar and possibly food service. I think admission to the park is included? I looks like it would be nice for your family. If my oldest son and husband would cruise I’d get one.
  5. At the Waterpark I had to reposition my chair several times to stay in the shade. Late afternoon it was almost impossible to position it in the shade. We took an Uber X. If you have more than 3 (or 4 small) people I’d upgrade to an XL.
  6. Thrill Waterpark at CocoCay: My son is a senior next year. This is our third cruise together. He absolutely loved Thrill Waterpark. We’ve been to Kalahari in Ohio, Maya Lost Mayan Waterpark in Costa Maya. Thrill Waterpark is his new favorite. He rode every ride multiple times. Dueling Demons was his favorite. Daredevil’s Peak a close second. The line for daredevils peak was 45 minute at one time, non existent later in the day. I rode one ride, sling shot. Loved it! To get into the park they scan your seapass card. There are lockers to the right. The wave pool is also to the right. It has a lot of loungers with umbrellas. The included food station inside the park serves burgers, chicken sandwiches, hotdogs, fries, cheese sticks, fruit, cookies etc. There is a bar but it’s currently hidden behind the food shack. I’ll try to post pictures but I’ve been having issues.
  7. Yes. On the first cruise I was up the first two nights and recycled a lot through the machines. I’ve seen quite a few decent payouts. In fact two nights ago I sat next to guy that hit about $3500 on a buffalo gold machine. $3 bet. I hit on the machine next to it last night but sadly not as much. Roughly $600 on a $1.20 bet. I had all but 2 of the gold buffalo. Lots of dead spins though.
  8. Around the ship: My son said that several games in the arcade are not working. He likes playing skeeball and it’s been broke the entire trip. In the casino only two or 3 out of 12(?) video poker and keno machines were functioning the first 3 days. Now there are about 3 not working. The casino is HOT. The space is too small. You can’t walk down several aisles if people are playing. Bar service was good on the 4 nighter. Slow to nonexistent the past 2 nights. The windjammer is set up nice and the food is average. Same offerings every night. I much preferred the windjammer food on Adventure. Johnny Rockets express looks nice but I’m not going to buy a hamburger when I can get a free one a few steps away in the windjammer. El loco Fresh is a great addition, and included! The soft serve ice cream is great but closes too early. Should stay open during the movies. My son said the slides on the ship are “okay”. The area looks nice, as does the main pool. My favorite place is the solarium. It looks updated.
  9. We have a balcony stateroom on the 8th deck forward, near the elevators. I prefer this location. Our room steward is very friendly and has been fine for the most part. I’m nit picky. We we had to request to have our beds separated. It was too hot our first night and had to call maintenance. It’s cooler now, but not as cool as I’d like it. The curtains, sofa and carpeting seems newer although there was already one huge stain on the carpet. Beds are still hard as a rock. Bathroom seems untouched.

  11. We went straight to deck 5 and had pizza for lunch. I really like Royals pizza and the deck 5 location is much better IMO than Carnivals location near the pool. Before the cruise I asked if my son and I could both go to Playmakers and have wings. The answer is yes. There is no age restriction. This will be a great place to watch sporting events. My Steelers played Thursday Night Football during my last cruise and I was stuck watching it on one small tv in the schooner bar. Couldn’t hear due to the piano player.
