  1. I saw the waiter standing a ways in front of me when I first starting choking and putting my hands up to my throat. After it was over other guests at nearby tables said the waiter didn’t step forward and if my husband didn’t help me they were ready to come over. I never passed out and I’m fine now of course. All I meant in my original post was I was surprised he didn’t say or do anything. He did come up,to me while I was leaving and said drink some water you will be fine, which at that point I was ok and ready to leave.
  2. We have decided to try royal Caribbean for the next cruise, maybe we will like the food better.
  3. I will say for our first cruise everything else was great! The ship was clean the entertainment and drinks were really good . I’m hooked on cruising I just wish the food was better. If we cruise on a ship with a steakhouse we would definitely go there as most say it’s well worth the charge.
  4. THe food we thought was the worst was the bacon being greasy and undercooked and the flat iron steak in the dining room and the pork loin at the buffet being very tough. Even the baked potatoes were hard. At breakfast they would only bring you a shot glass size of syrup at a time and I asked for sour cream at dinner for my potato and they bought a spoon of it to me. My guess is they think those things and butter and jelly packets are being wasted? My husband bought a fish sandwich at the seafood shack and only took two bites, it was really greasy. I do agree about tastes varying, I don’t like the food at the resorts in Cancun beacause it’s too bland but hubby thinks it’s better than the food on the cruise.
  5. Thanks joepeka, I do agree the quality isn’t what caused me to choke. Maybe the waiter wasn’t sure what to do. I know some say carnival has better food than other cruise lines, this just wasn’t our experience. We heard from other people on the cruise that only cruise with carnival and they were surprised at the food quality on this cruise. They said it’s always been good. I wonder if maybe some of the newer carnival ships with more dining options may be better.
  6. We sailed on victory last week. My husband isn’t near as picky as me and he thought the buffet and dining room was awful. The burgers at guys and the pizza were the best food we had on the cruise. The first night we tried the buffet, we decided to try the dining room the second night. After a couple of bites of food, I choked and our our waiter stood nearby and did nothing. Lucky for me another passenger told my husband what to do. We had a great time other than that and will cruise again, but wondered if the food is about the same quality on all the ships.
  7. It looks like the victory is docket at Key West from 7:30 in the morning until 1:30. Is that late enough to take the trolley tour and get lunch?
  8. Trying to decide between the Victory sailing to Key West and Cozumel and the Paradise sailing to Grand Turk and Cozumel. The victory is a four night while the paradise is a five night, this will be our first cruise . Flying out of illinois, Tampa is more expensive than flying into Miami, after checking prices. Which would you choose and why?
  9. Glad I asked this question on this site, carnival didn’t tell me you could only fly into foreign ports if there were issues. The cruise we are looking at only stops in Key West and Cozumel, so we would only get to see Cozumel , if we missed our flight the day of the cruise. I am booking a flight for the day prior no way are we taking a chance. So flying in the day before should we stay at a hotel that will pick us up at the airport and then take us back to the airport the day of the cruise to catch the shuttle? that Sounds like the easiest way although some say Miami hotels are more expensive than ft Lauderdale ones.
  10. hubby and I are looking at booking carnival victory for an April trip. I know some people suggest flying in the day before the cruise leaves , Be I thought about booking our air through fly 2 the fun and flying in the day of the cruise. When I called carnival they said they pay to fly you to the first port if you are bumped from your flight or it’s cancelled. Have any of you used it and did everything go ok or do you not recommend it. We have never cruised before and I thought that it would be easier to fly in and take the carnival shuttle to the port instead of flying in a day prior and then finding a hotel and transportation to the port.
  11. Thanks, it seems that maybe the issues the ship had right after dry dock may be taken care of. We have been talking about an all inclusive but I really want to try a cruise that goes to Key West. After reading some of these posts it makes me think this cruise is worth booking. Thanks
  12. we were looking at sailing on victory in April, but after reading some of the comments and reviews I’m thinking twice. I really liked that it just had updates and the idea of seeing Key West. Some said they didn’t have hot water and the ship still had work going on. I was hoping someone that sailed in the last week or two could tell me if things are better now. We are first time cruisers and had looked at victory and enchantment of the seas. Thanks
  13. I’m so glad someone posted about the reviews. We are first time cruisers that were leaning toward victory or enchantment of the seas. We really want to visit Key West and I thought victory would be great just being out of dry dock. I’m glad to see people that sailed on it before would again. Have a great time on your cruise.
  14. Thanks for the replies, I think some people that do reviews complain about the littlest things. I’m thinking of trying a longer cruise on a newer ship, with more things to do. The last time we went to Cancun it was for five nights and it flew by.
  15. hubby and I are first time cruisers. after going to Cancun several times and staying at all inclusive resorts we decided to try a cruise. I have always wanted to see key west , but it seems those are short ones and most of them are on carnival victory or enchantment of the seas. After reading reviews of both I’m afraid to book either one. I was leaning toward the victory since it just had a dry dock and added some things . The only thing that worried me until I read the reviews is they don’t have some of the things the newer bigger ships have. Are they really that run down? I’m beginning to think about trying glory or dream instead. Any recommendations?
