  1. Thanks everyone. I know in the grand scheme of things it is quite insignificant and there are far more things to worry about quite rightly, but it doesn’t look that hopeful. They’ve delayed final payment for a month, early May, so I will hold off and see what happens. Thanks again, hope everyone stays safe, and you all manage to get your cruises sorted out at some point in the future.
  2. Hi I just was wondering if anyone had an idea if Enchanted Princess would be ready for delivery on the due date. I am guessing construction will have stopped or greatly reduced by now, and understandably so. We have a cruise booked on the maiden voyage July 1, and with all the sailings suspended and so much scary stuff going on, should we not get too excited? (Although, seeing what is going on in the world right now, I am not excited, quite saddened and apprehensive, but this question just popped in my mind when I received an email from Princess about something else). Thanks all.

  6. Sorry guys, I didnt mean to upset anyone or boast. I was just sharing my experience following on from this post and I only mentioned it because of the thread and to potentially answer the question of the OP. Yes, I was lucky, and I totally get the upset for those who do it the 'right way'. We never win much or have much luck, but for once I guess, we were lucky.
  7. This happened to us. We had just turned Platinum at the start of an Asia cruise, and upon check in we got handed an envelope and our boarding card. I didn't really notice it was black rather than grey/platinum, and boarded to our room. I opened the envelope and read that 'Congratulations, you have been upgraded to Elite' and then I realised the colour of our boarding cards! We were very excited and spent the next hour reading what the additional perks would be, including the 4 mini bars (we were in a suite on a b2b cruise - we couldn't drink it all!). I am guessing this is the reason we were upgraded early on our 5th cruise, as apart from the first cruise in a junior suite, the subsequent 4 were in a full suite, and by making us loyal to them early (as they did) was a great long term revenue earner for them. To give us Elite early cost them minimally, but potential future cruise revenue from us would be huge - they're certainly not stupid, but we had a great time being Elite that bit early! On our Captains Circle statement, they added another 105 days to ensure the status showed on our account.
  8. I wish they would refresh the dessert menu, I don't think it has been looked at too much for years, and nothing appeals to me too much, especially after a filling two preceding courses! Overall quality is good, and sometimes they have waived the $10 surcharge for another appetiser to share (chilli / whiskey glazed prawns and rice is our absolute favourite) if we joke with the server or chat nicely, and luckily we take advantage of the 'Suite first night eat there free offer'. If I had to pay $58 I would think twice.
  9. Thank you. Edge seems very fabulous, but very expensive. When on board, I priced up with the Future Cruise Consultant a 9 day Med cruise on the Apex next year coming out at over £10k for a Sky Suite! (When I priced it myself on my tablet, using that days exchange rate for £/$, I got it £900 cheaper, but still very expensive). It was 40% more expensive than what I paid for my 10 day Caribbean cruise! I know it is a revolution in cruising, so they say, but it put us off. Hopefully prices will fall. Enjoy the Enchanted, I cannot wait!

The points I raised in my piece were questions I knew I would be asking myself, so I am glad I could have helped others, as others have helped my on many occasions - especially on this board, when helping to decide a room for this cruise and amenities to avail myself of.   12. Hi. When I booked this with X direct online in the uk about 18 months ago, it was just standard beverage package, Wi-fi and gratuities, nothing else.
  13. I think Princess have it here and as much a X were ok in organisation, Princess have it down to a fine art with precision engineering! No tenders on our cruise thankfully, and the ships excursion were of a similar quality to Princess. Again, overall not much in it, but logistically I think princess just edge it.
  14. His name was Rudy. We had little demands or needs but he was there when we wanted him, friendly and efficient. Dress code slightly more relaxed on X. I enjoyed the casual chic nights rather than the full blown formal (although that is a bit watered down in itself now), where I could wear smart jeans, collared shirt and sweater and feel comfortable, while my wife could dress up a bit as she wanted. Some people went the whole hog and it was nice to see, and some made no effort whatsoever, but all in all, slightly more relaxed on these nights. Other than that, pretty similar. Thanks.
