The assessors office will have a form to fill out to show your new address. And they will want to know what happened to your old property.
I know you didn’t use a realtor, but if you had, they would have transferred and filed all the deed paperwork through the title company. I think you are on the hook for doing it yourself, unless maybe you call a title company that will do it in Texas.
A realtor does not handle transfer or deed preparing/filing in any state. That is done by a title/escrow company or an attorney. Texas is a title state. Attorney not required.
Typically the buyer or their lender select the title company.
All Jane needs to do is advise the local tax office of her new mailing address. Pretty much same in any state. She probably has the option to pay tax bill online.
As Bob mentioned she will want to file homestead for her new primary residence/ condo in FL.

I checked my mail this morning and property taxes were forwarded from Texas and lucky I got them, due by nov 30.
I assumed incorrectly that changing my drivers license and car tag to florida would update my address for property taxes. Called and was told the property appraiser is not part of the tax system. What? That I have to now figure out how to update my address on both deeds to where I now live in florida. It's not automatic. ..and here I thought I was done with moving stuff.
Off to the car wash place to see what it costs to wash off my engine in case salt water got on it and wash my car. First things first. Voted. Cross off list.
You shouldn't have to update actual property deeds. Isn't there a place on the local county website of how to update to update your mailing address?

Keep in mind many kids in the northeast have that entire week off.
Yes, I am aware as I live in the area. I was simply saying that is next school break, after Yeshiva week in January.

Oh gosh, that is what I was afraid of.
Location of cabin makes a big difference when seas are rough. Where are you at? Mid ship is usually best.
And I wouldn't worry ships handle well.
We've been through 25 to 30 foot swells on Grandeur years ago. That was fun.

I think I've said why. Although if it's not clear, (and no its nothing to do with it being a jewish holiday, if that's what you assume) I'm looking to avoid a cruise with a massive amount of kids. Also, I dont want to not be able to use the solarium bistro on Odyssey. It doesnt have the additional food options like perhaps the oasis class.
Thanks for the tip
Yeshiva week is not an actual holiday. From what I understand it is simply a break from school as the kids are in school when most have off for Christmas week.
It is almost always mid January so sailing the end of the month You should be just fine.
The next break for kids in the US would be Presidents Day, Feb 17 in 2025 and Feb 16, 2026.

St maarten, St lucia, Barbados. Definitely worth a look. There's also a 14 night southern Caribbean in 2026 that looks great
When is the 14 nighter? I see 12 nighter for end of January 2026.

Having sailed in the winter, your biggest negative could be weather. The northeast gets snow storms in January and February. The weather causes the seas to be very rough. Also the first two days going and last two day's coming will not be swimming weather. I wouldn't be worried about kids making noise.
Good luck!
Yes, weather can impact the last day or two when leaving from NJ in the winter. Just like hurricane season. You never know when booking.
Usually warmer when you reach the Carolinas On day 2.
And there is always the Solarium.
Unfortunately, Odyssey doesn't have indoor swimming pool like Anthem and other Quantum class ships.

I've never heard of this. Is that the same time every year? Looking at the same cruise for 2026 too on Odyssey which starts Jan 26th I think.
This is the list of Royals Yeshiva week cruises that offer the Kosher meal pkg. It is usually middle of January every year. 2026 is not yet announced.

Noticed? Sure. Overrun? Never.
Our Oasis sailing was overrun with something like 2200 to 2400 kids. Security staff had their jobs cut out for them that week. Lots of pranksters running around. Let's just say it was officially our worst cruises ever. I will leave it at that

I've never seen a ship overrun with kids, even during peak vacation time and full capacity. Ships are just too big to let you notice.
Have you been on a sailing with over 2000 kiddos? Don't get me wrong I love kids but not 2000+ of them on a 6500 passenger sailing. Definitely noticed them just about everywhere.

Yeshiva cruise on Odyssey is January 16th so you should be just fine for your sailing on Jan 27th.
Yeshiva week tends to get taken over by children and adults. They usually shut down the solarium bistro and guests can purchase the kosher only pkg and dine in the bistro for all their meals.
We always enjoy those 11 night sailings in January. Hope you do too!

@Ocean BoyThe heart and kidneys are ok. The pneumonia is mild but he has a blood infection and they don’t know why. He is lethargic and they are talking about rehab but he is refusing that. He wants to come home but we can’t do what we did when he fell, it was too much. I thank you for your concern.
Is the blood infection getting better? I hope he realizes that it is a lot for you to handle and decides to go to a rehab facility for at least a week or so to get his strength back. 🙏🍸

Oh what a day yesterday was.
I had ordered 4 deep Rubber maid storage containers from Amazon.
I am baking 75 dozen different varieties of cookies for a cookie table for our friends 80th birthday celebration. And need more freezer containers.
Some cookies I can make early. Others will be made that week.
Yesterday I was notified that the parcel was left on our porch by Fed X. at 3 pm.
A picture was also provided.
Only there was no package and it was not our front porch. Also the package was small there was no way the containers would be in there.
So I used Amazon App and followed there prompts to report a no delivery.
Well. Talk about service.
A few minutes later a HUMAN called and asked for details.
At first he asked for tracking number.
I provided it.
Then he goes it’s a Fed X problem.
I goI did not request Fed X. For delivery so -
It is your problem.
He goes that number does not match your order.
I go that’s what you provided.
So a few “ can you holds later”He said your package was delivered to the wrong address.
I go yes we know. They have nice red porch furniture.
It was delivered by Fed X.
HmmmmmmHe goes.
Do you want a re-send of product.
I go to our address and with proper tracking number.
No response.
I go. No thanks.
So we got our credit.
And
Then I placed a re-order.
If the order goes according to plan then Tuesday should be a great day.
Wish me luck
Tupperwareless- in Ohio
Take care.
We have issues with FedX on a regular basis at work & home. We, also, have issues with Amazon where they sometimes just throw a package over the fence at work and you have to play "go find amazon box"

Who would like a Lucy update?
We needed one as well, as we hadn’t seen her since Tuesday night. We checked our cameras and there were no sightings of her and her food dish had no food missing. We texted our one neighbour Friday night, to be told that they had seen Lucy at the other neighbour’s farm (where Lucy was born) Thursday night when they were trick or treating. I called that neighbour Saturday morning and she was indeed there on their porch. She has been teasing the dog that they were watching. She had been there since Wednesday morning.
I went over 30 minutes later to get her. Before I was even able to knock on their door, Lucy appeared out of the tall pasture grass. After a 20 minute visit we were ready to go. They joked that I was her Uber and made the comment that they will see here later, maybe even that afternoon. Lucy appreciated the “reverse” Uber ride home.
The follow comments and photos would be her cat thoughts.
Look at this service, I didn’t even have to text dad to get me.
I see our laneway ahead.
Snacks when we get home?
Adorable. Curious how far away is the farm she visits? That's great how everyone watches out and cares for her😊

A friend (for real) of mine applied for a job that would require travel to Canada but a DUI from 8 years ago surfaced. In the Great State of New York, DUI's stay on your Permanent Record forever & even if expunged, it'll still show up during law enforcement background checks. They are in the process of applying for rehabilitation which can take (key words) up to 18 months at a cost of over $1,000+ USD. From what I'm told, there are third parties that can try expedite the process but no guarantee.
As for people with DUI that have cruised to Canada without issue, I'm wondering if the Boarder Agents at the port show a bit more discretion & are more lenient knowing that cruisers will be in port for only few hours, spend a couple of $$$ and (key words again 🙂) most likely will not rent a car and drink vs the more strict adherence to the law at border crossings via car. But that's just a wild-a**-guess on my part.
Imagine being the person(s) that has to enter into the computer and run background check on every single cruise passenger that is entering from an Alaska cruise or those entering from the east coast to Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, etc etc......there are thousands every day from all the different cruise lines. Seems like an impossible task.
What do they do if they find someone shoplifted when they were young and dumb? Are they also denied entry or do they also have to pay for this rehabilitation application? I wonder what % of people are approved for their rehabilitation application. I love our Canadian neighbors so please do not take this the wrong way but this almost seems like a "money grab" for the government.

A friend had to become Criminally Rehabilitated in Canada to cruise.
Is that a long and costly expense? I imagine they want to do that before they even think about booking.
