  1. When we went, we both got fish and chips. We also got there within 15 or 20 minutes of the end time and there was no wait at all.
  2. We've done that too. It's a great location! Many times we've booked L245 because it's in a cheaper category, but as far aft as you can get in the forward category and a very short walk to the pool area. We seem to keep going back to that cabin on one Grand class ship after another. I think everyone just needs to discover what works for them. We are part of the selective few who once had an aft full suite and then only booked insides after that because we were never in the cabin. We realized that for us, it wasn't the best use of our money. Do as much research as you can. Definitely check the deck plans, especially above and below. We hated being directly below an area where deck chairs were being moved around every night. The most important thing is to relax and enjoy yourself. Do what you can to fix any bad situation once you're on board. But don't let anything ruin your vacation.
  3. I've walked many ships in the middle of the night due to insomnia. You'll see some people cleaning but normally you'll feel like you're the only one on the ship. It's actually very peaceful, unless they're still playing that "background music" and something annoying comes on, LOL. I'm not sure who the music is for in the middle of the night. Maybe the sleepwalkers. I've sat out on the Promenade deck for a while, sometimes reading my Kindle. Pick a spot or try several spots until you find one you really like, or just keep walking.
  4. We're on Harmony. I think it has the FreeStyle machines. Is that correct? I like lemonade & anything strawberry, so that sounds good. Hubby does like coffee but he's not into the fancy stuff, just regular coffee. I'll ask him if he's interested, but it'll probably be just me. Sounds like it might be worth it. I like my cocktails, but settling for mocktails would be fine with me if it saves a lot of money. Thanks for everyone's help!
  5. I didn't realize the milkshakes are included. We're regular Princess cruisers and this will be our first RCCL cruise. It's looking like cocktails are quite a bit higher on RCCL than Princess. It's amazing how much mocktails cost. They're $5.50 on Princess. I may go ahead and get the Refreshment Package. Are there any requirements like 'everyone in the cabin must get it' that I need to be aware of? Hubby wouldn't be interested in it, so that would make a difference in our case.
  6. I did a search and found lots of topics about mocktails and the cost shots, cocktails, and of the drinks packages. But I couldn't find any mention of the cost of a mocktail. Can anyone help me out? I'm not a big soda drinker, but thinking about getting the Refreshment Package for mocktails. Just wondered what the break-even point was as far as how many mocktails I'd have to purchase per day to get my money's worth. Thanks!
  7. We've sailed Royal & Regal. I've seen pictures of the enclosed pool on Majestic, which looks really cool. What was your view of that? I was really surprised that Princess didn't reposition one of their ships with a covered pool (not necessarily Majestic because I know it was built for the Asian market) to sail in Alaska after the Golden leaves. We haven't done Alaska yet, but I hate the idea of not having a usable pool when cruising. We do love the buffet and the piazza on the Royal class. But obviously lots of stuff could be better. I prefer the Grand class over smaller ships. But everyone has their likes and dislikes.
  8. This may be a stupid question, but how is an electric fan a hazard? I would think every cell phone, laptop, tablet, and maybe even battery operated fan on board would be a greater hazard than an electric fan. Are all electric devices prohibited?
  9. We had everything set up before leaving home but did not receive our medallions in the mail. We got them during check-in. The only time saved was the 5 seconds it would have taken to get our photos taken at security as we boarded the ship. They scanned our medallions, saw we already had a security photo in the system (the one we took at home & uploaded). They thanked us and sent us on our way. Every other part of check-in was the same as before, even though we had everything in the system, including passport info (which they took again at check-in). So taking all the time to set stuff up ahead of time only saves a few seconds at check-in. If you're a techie and enjoy doing it, go for it, but don't expect much benefit from it. If you're not a techie or just don't want to mess with it, you'll be only a few seconds behind those who did.
  10. What has anyone's recent experience been disembarking in FLL regarding use of Mobile Passport? On previous trips, there was a separate line for Mobile Passport users and hardly anyone using it. On our last cruise, I had our Mobile Passport ready and was told they were "not doing that". Did they discontinue it?
  11. If you prefer a bigger shower with door instead of curtain, use the showers in the gym.
  12. One time when I was waiting to order a drink at a poolside bar, the bartender made a Dirty Banana drink & made way too much. He poured it into a plain drinking glass & asked if I wanted it. It looked like chocolate & I had walked up to the bar too late to realize there was banana in it (I don't like the taste of bananas). So I took it & drank it while he made my drink. There was way more chocolate flavor than banana flavor, so it wasn't bad. Is there a mixed drink like the Dirty Banana without the banana? It seems kind of silly to request a Dirty Banana & tell them to leave out the banana, lol.
  13. When I read they were doing Grease and Hairspray, I thought they would be shortened versions. But it sounds like they are performing the entire show. Is that right?
  14. Don't have a photo, but one of my favorite drinks is Beverly Hills Iced Tea.
