  1. Jupiter. Three blasts on the horn and we are underway 😀
  2. Captain announced Coast Guard gave to permission proceed on our journey.
  3. Yes Jupiter Masks enforced on board , not on excursions. No comment on rumors
  4. Captain just announced problems were due to positive COVID test and would announce departure and rest of journey soon
  5. On Jupiter mid morning captain announced that the delay for clearance was due to Akureyri local police still learning how to deal in post pandemic era and since we have been cleared by Iceland authorities the matter should be resolved shortly. Note.. Local officials were still on board and Sky plus other ships had no problems. Second announcement Captain a few hours latter said that local health officials were inspecting health protocols. Everything else is hearsay due to lack of official communications. WIFI is intermittent at best due to our location
  6. Bailed on our November 2021 Bali to Sydney yesterday..... Suspect our cruise to the Cook Islands will be revamped in the next few days prior to final payment deadline.
  7. Did she post the future cruise credits and conditions and if so what are they? I think JoJo is out of the UK office and if you run into her ask if Nathan Goy is still around. Thanks
  8. At POM when there are multiple embarkations in the same terminal there are agents at the gate to direct you to the correct counters. Some of the larger cruise lines ask to see your paperwork prior to getting in line to make sure you are arriving at your designated processing time. Viking has been first come first served for processing. A while ago there was a health form you would fill out and they would collect them while you were on line.
  9. On the July13th and booked through a TA. Received the luggage tags direct from Viking a while ago, and separately, via E-Mail, a "Boarding Pass" with a QR code. I haven't received the traditional E-Docs yet. Previously Viking only asked for your Passport at embarkation and handed you your ID, they never asked to see the E-Docs. Not having the E-Docs will not impact the boarding process but it is nice to have. Docs used to be a bigger deal when they were color printed in a leatherette folio with your luggage tags and your gift from Viking.
  10. We start in Tahiti and they are currently open for tourism. Cruising can start as soon as logistics allow and first cruises are now scheduled for late August. It was relayed to us that the Cook Islands will stay in the NZ bubble. My guess is they will substitute a few French Poly destinations Thank
  11. Our cruise is scheduled to arrive in Australia late November 2021 and we enter the cancellation "penalty" phase in 3 weeks. Plan B is finished and will press the send button at the last minute. Onlyslightlymad: We are on a cruise in September of this year that visits the Cook Islands. Any chance NZ will lift the ban by then? Opinions and guesses are acceptable.
  12. Questions for those aboard: Do they stock the mini-bars with Einstok Beer? Laundry open? Future cruise desk manned? World Cafe running smoothly? Presently surprised, as expected or disappointed?
  13. We were last in Iceland 5 days a few years ago.... Didn't do any money exchange. We did all private tours and the only tipping in Iceland is traditionally tour guides. Asked the tour guide the first day about currency for tipping and $ and Euros are acceptable. Only worries were paid toilets. Our guides always knew which stops would be a problem and they had change if needed. You can use credit cards at some toilets at most of the tourist sites and some give you barcode pass if you made a gift shop purchase. No problems... we did take a few public buses but I don't remember if
  14. Totally agree ! If your expectations was that this was "Welcome Back to 2019" you misread the big print. We don't know if anyone was removed solely because they were in proximity of the person that tested positive or for violating Covid rules as alluded to by others. The fact they were forced to quarantine after they were removed seems to be a local decision not necessarily Vikings. Give the reps a break unless you are calling to cancel. Have you thought about what happens on the last day of the cruise if you test positive? Most likely you will have to quar
  15. It was under guest information.... I wouldn't worry about it. In the past if you had traveled on VO before with a US passport they would scan your passport and hand you your boarding package including ID card (less than a minute). If not it was a passport scan + photo (some people said they scanned the passport photo instead of taking a picture) maybe 2 minutes. All the Comfort Check-In does is have you add a picture to your guest information. I am sure Viking will still scan your passport. I don't see much value of doing it. Same with the VeriFly since having Viking check your proof of vacc
  16. Might be the ship to ship transfer can be done within the confines of the "Viking Bubble" avoiding a quarantine. Viking Venus is also headed for Portsmouth, unfortunately Marine Traffic AIS has it to Portsmouth NH, probably doing about 80knts. Hope they did better with the autopilot 😊.
  17. Too risky for me... Baggage storage and handling is under control of the port until it is placed on the ship. Every port is different and the rules change by the minute. One port they would take our luggage but we were not allowed to leave the terminal, another they only took your luggage one hour before your scheduled embarkation, some ports had lockers. Another thing to keep in mind is even though we will be in port overnight it is possible the terminal and embarkation may close relatively early (union rules). Did Tellus know how long the hold was or did they assume you were going to d
  18. I think just saying "the fairground in xyz city" would work. It is a scripted question with no right answer. If you can't answer or if your answer rouses suspicion you might may have a problem. You have already been verified by your airline and passed through the Iceland entry process so it would take a lot for Viking to challenge the authenticity of your CDC card
  19. Can't say exactly what Viking will accept for US residents, but the airlines will accept a copy of the CDC vaccination card and if not on the card, the address of the final vaccination station. We used a copy of the appointment slip for the address but I think all you need is to know is the name and city of facility. As stated by others, you can use the VeriFly App. My experience with VeriFly is it is not worth the effort and at best, it will save you a few seconds at embarkation.
  20. On United it is under manage your trip, Since I am not booked on delta I found it in Destination and Travel Restrictions Map | Delta Air Lines I didn't check the other airlines
  21. as requested: Having just returned from an international trip I can confirm that the Airline is the gatekeeper and their rules determine if you get on the plane. Currently United and Delta require a PCR test less than 72 hours prior to departure from the US to Iceland. On our return flight American would not issue electronic boarding passes, and when you checked in they checked your paper copy of the anti-gen test and verified if the lab issuing it was on the approved list. They have an app (Veri-fly) that was supposed to do this but it wa
  22. We have had the same timing problem with flights from Athens and what we have done is taken a BA flight latter in the day that arrives in LHR early evening with a late morning connection to US. There is a shuttle bus to the airport hotels and your luggage can be held and transferred at the airport. Much more relaxing then a 3AM wake up call and dealing with tight connections and terminal changes. We also heard of customs not opening in Piraeus until after 7AM
  23. The fact that the major airlines had replacement aircraft available limited your delay to 3 or 4 hours. The smaller budget airlines without available aircraft either arrange for a charter or will have you wait out the repair. Our last delay was on AA DFW to Rio via MIA. First and replacement aircraft at DFW had problems. AA cancelled the flight and rebooked everyone on other flights some on other airlines, We were sent to Rio via Sao Palo and arrived ahead of our original schedule. We were scheduled to leave for Europe on AirBerlin the day after they ceased operations. Since we booked through
  24. Only worry is because of the small number of long haul aircraft, a mechanical problem on Iceland can cause very lengthy delays. UA and Delta are flying 757-200's UA is configured up front as Business Polaris ( lie flat), Delta is lie flat out of NY and Premium Economy out of MSP. Bus and PE fares are way out of line. Most of these flights have about 10% occupancy in main cabin so there will probably be plenty of room to stretch out.
  25. Booked 7/13 earlier today and Invoice says Jupiter.
