This is exactly what our Butler told us. All MSC staff are on a salary wage, so the only 'extra' tips they receive are the ones that you give in cash.
MSC uses the DSC to supplement paying their employee wages. He presented this to us in a way that was just to let us know that if we thought our tips were going directly to the staff they where not, so if we thought they deserved the extra tips to give them cash.
We were at the time unsure if he was telling us the truth but when we discussed it with him a second time, he wasn't saying this just for himself he was saying it for all employees and now hearing that others are being given the same information I think maybe this is the truth.
In Europe they are used to no tips as this is their custom but when you come to American and tips are thought to be given as extra on top of their wages and if they are not then MSC is not presenting this properly to their customers.

Thanks!

Awesome cannot wait!

Hello not sure if this has been asked before i did do a search and could not find anything.
Is "Le Petit Chef™ At Qsine" included in the dinning package or is it just Murano and Tuscan Grill?
We will be on Equinox if that makes a difference.
TIA

Thank you, great review so far, we are going on Seaside in a few weeks and did Equinox last fall, so am really looking forward to the rest of your review from a fellow Canuck!
One question please, did you require tie up shoes for the zip line? I have looked but cannot seem to find the answer any where.

Hello,
Just wondering if you can help me out with where the smoking areas are on MSC Seaside, through out the ship and also in the Yacht Club.
TIA!!

Hi digging up this thread with a question since we are black but are sailing with friends who are not, does anyone have the pricing of the restaurants from onboard? we only wanted to do the Teppanyaki one but is that still not included with the free dinner?
TIA

Hello,
WE are heading out on Seaside this February and have a couple questions regarding the extra charges for a few items, I can't seem to find the pricing anywhere. Would anyone here know the price of the Zip line, Bowling, simulator? just wondering if we should book the package or pay individually. Also with the new drink package changes does anyone know if you can upgrade to the Premium Plus, we are in the Yacht Club so I believe we receive the equivalent of the Premium package; and if so how much?
TIA!!

Waiting patiently leaving in 16 days!!

Hello,
New to MSC, I was just wondering how their photo packages work, is it by face recognition like RCCL? We have family of 6 in 3 separate cabins just wondering if we could get one package and get the pictures if at least one person from the cabin with the package is in it?
TIA

Newbie here, we are in a Aqua class room would we get one of these bags as well?
TIA
-
So it was the Premium package that is included in the Yacht Club experience?

Hello,
I was just on Opera out of Cuba, MSC does provide the Cuba Cards they charge $15 EUROS for them. No problem you will receive them on-board.

Thank you for a most amazing review, I am looking forward to our Seaside cruise next February; we have just returned from our first MSC cruise o board Opera and found it to be very enjoyable!. I will ask the unmentionable question.... was there a smoking area in the Yacht club area or in any of the bars?
Thank You, Kar

So we leave in 30 days for our Cuba Cruise, tell me about Opera. What to see, what to do..... What did you like what didn't you like? I have asked about Gluten free on this ship has anyone done this on a ship not Certified?
-
Hello we are new to MSC and are cruising on Opera in February, had any one cruised this ship being Gluten Free? We are not Celiac but just intolerant their other ships have gluten free meals but Opera the website says packaged good available only.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you
What our cabin attendant did. . . and it's not good

He did not solicit for tips he was informing us that ALL personnel onboard MSC ships are paid by salary not just the upper staff and that the tips we pay to MSC are not 'extra' for the crew, MSC uses them to pay their wages.
So if we thought that the MSC system worked they way other cruise lines do, that they do not.
If we were to take off the tips it did not effect his pay.
