  1. We tried the lobster roll and it was ok at best. way to much mayo for me. I have heard others say how awesome it was so give it a try and judge for yourself.
  2. This is not "donna" but i have a feeling i know the donna you are speaking of.
  3. Sorry i don't remember the movies. We did use the carnival app. The chat feature is the best when with a group. Everyone bought it and just left the app running. We set up a group chat and everyone was able to stay in touch. Not saying it was without glitches but overall it works pretty good.
  4. No bud only bud light and i think bud light lime. I must commend NOLA port. We had faster to the fun. We arrived at port a little after 10 and were in room dropping off luggage at 10:50. On debarkation day, we arrived at theater on level 3 around 7 am carrying off our own bags. We were thru customs and in car by 7:45. Best Embarkation and Debarkation of any of my 4 cruises.
  5. Sailed August 31-Sept 5 5 nights. Out of NOLA. Sea Day, Cozumel, Progresso, Seaday. 4th cruise, first time on conquest class. first sea day and night were really rough, 3 in our group got a little sick due to motion. Decoration and Cleanliness: I can definitely see where people say decorations on this ship are "gaudy". I generally don't pay attention to such things but after reading other reviews, I get where they are coming from. For me, decoration is never something to base a cruise on so i just look and move on. As for Cleanliness, I have no complaints. I constantly noticed staff wiping down railings, cleaning tables, doors, windows, floors, etc. Layout: I have to say that I liked the layout of the smaller ship. It just felt cozy to me. It didn't feel like I was walking forever to get somewhere. Lines were average during peak times. Other times there were little to no lines anywhere. Our rooms were on Deck 9 Lido. The rear pool is adults only which was nice. We spent a lot of time in this area. Drink service was good here. Never had an issue getting chairs. The area of the main mid ship pool was nice with the "terraced seating" but I must say, I missed the shaded middle deck of the Dream class and Vista class. Food: We ate at the Wok, Guys, Blue Iguana, Deli/Sandwich station, buffet, Pizza Shack, and Your Time Dining. Wok was ok at best. Guys never fails to please, Blue Iguana is good (wife loves there breakfast), Buffet was typical fair although we mostly used it for breakfast. Pizza Shack was excellent but they seemed to never have enough prepared. Your time dinning is the only way to go. This is our second cruise using it and will never do another scheduled seating. Now, let me add that we were in line at 5:45 each evening and managed to get the same table and same service team. Our group of 8 were always seated promptly and every evening we were done in just over an hour. Maybe 1 hour 20 minutes at the very longest. Food was good. I did have a veal parmesan that was excellent by cruise standards. Staff: Nothing bad to say here, always friendly and courteous. Both the stewards and the wait staff called us by name and provided anything we needed. Room: Typical interior room. It was a bit warmer than rooms on other ships. Interior rooms on vista and dream were definitely cooler. I did not like having to swipe card to access safe. Only my card would work, wife's would not. Somewhat inconvenient at times. Entertainment: The main theater is so much better than Vista its not even close. We saw the country show and the Studio VIP show. Both were good. Killer Beaz in the comedy club was good. Gave the piano bar a try and didn't go back. The guy did more crowd interaction and joking than he did doing "sing along" stuff. We were in there for about 30 minutes and I think he did 3 songs during that time. Casino was fun, staff was friendly. VERY SMOKEY, come on carnival, lets move forward and make it no smoking. Wife came home sick because of it. We like to spend time and money in casino but will think twice next time. Cruise director was not very impressive. So much so I don't even remember his name. Stuck my head in Red Frog Pub for a few minutes and heard a group in there that sounded pretty good but didn't stay long enough to catch their names. Overall probably the most relaxing cruise I have been on. I have now sailed on Dream, Valor, and Vista and would have to rate them in that order. Questions?
  6. Leaving Saturday for 5 day on the Valor. Will there be 1 formal night or 2?
  7. Yep... The post was meant to be funny but in reality, i spread those activities out across 4-5 hours so its not likely i'm stumbling to nap time... LOL
  8. Sea Day Brunch with drink Lido with drink Trivia with drink Casino with drink Guys burger with drink Nap... In that order! LOL
  9. Thanks, we will be on carnival
  10. Thank you. Anyone attended her show. Any reviews?
  11. Anyone know who will be performing in the Piano Bar on Vista next week?
  12. What time does the terminal open and allow people to start checking in. We have FTTF and we enjoy arriving as early as possible even if it means hanging out in the terminal until boarding begins. I have heard the doors open anywhere from 9 to 11am but i'm sure there is a more exact time than that. Anyone know?
  13. I have not regretted it. On port days i may not make the 5-6 drinks to break even but i more than made up for those on sea days when i would have 10-12. If you think the cost will be "close" then get it. If you don't think you will be anywhere close, then don't. I have always taken the approach that even if i overpay by 50-100 bucks, its worth the ease of mind that i can have what i want, when i want it.
  14. Extended forecast for spring break cruise shows rain in Galveston, thunderstorms in Cozumel, and rain in Belize. Have you every had a cruise where it rained most of the time. How did it go? Did it really ruin the whole cruse? Were you able to make the best of it? Just wondering how you dealt with it. Hopefully the outlook will change but if not, looking for your previous experiences. Thanks
  15. Keep checking. Just this week I was 54 days out from our trip and all of a sudden a 3 pm some opened up
  16. I was able to get FTTF for March 17 sailing on Vista around 3:30 Central time today
  17. Any idea or rumor as to why the snorkling was canceled. We are scheduled for this excursion in March
  18. We are cruising without FTTF for the first time so we have to honor our check in time. How are check in times regulated or enforced. Galveston Terminal. Are you not allowed in building. Is there a waiting area, holding area? Is there a sign that indicates which times are ready or is it just by "the clock on the wall". If my check in time is 12:30 and i walk up there at 12:25 what happens? (generally i am habitually early but if it won't do any good then i need to be prepared for that) Since we have used FTTF in the past i never really noticed what others were doing?
  19. Cruising out of Galveston for first time coming up in march. I don't like surprises when it comes to navigation therefore my question involves exiting the terminal in the best location to get back to ParkNCruise lot. If we enter the terminal at 22nd street and drop off wife and bags, what happens after that. Is there a traffic exit at 25th street or do you proceed farther west across from 28th. IF i can exit at 25th it seems easy to simply cross harborside and make a right on new strand. If you have to go further down before exiting the terminal, its seems rather difficult to get back to ParkNCruise. It seems a left turn there would be unreasonable with the traffic. Someone give me the best route from baggage drop off to ParkNCruise on New Strand. Thanks!
  20. I am on VISTA that same week. I believe that to be a common spring break week for many states therefore my guess FTTF availability will be very limited. I have been unable to get it as well. Hopefully it will show up soon as it did for goofgal531..
  21. 3rd cruise coming up in March. Vista out of Galveston. On our prior two cruises(both on dream), we never made it to the piano bar. Tell me about the acts on Vista in the piano bar, what can I expect. What happens. Everyone says how much fun it is? fill me in
  22. 4 day cruiser out of Texas who purchase Cheers will only be charged for the price of a 3 day cruise. As was stated, Day 1 is a la carte.
  23. In general, have all ports and ships converted to this method of distributing Sign and Sail cards? Specifically, Vista in Galveston? Thanks!
  24. thanks everyone. its a spring break cruise so i'm not real confident that they will be able to change it simply because i anticipate the cruise to be near capacity.
