  1. I just canceled. The excursions no longer appear on the calendar, but I have nothing from Viking showing the cancelation or the amount. I spoke to Viking and they said the only time they send a request is if your bank “ won’t accept a refund request.” Since this is just a bank transfer, essentially, I just don’t understand this. We shall see.
  2. I also want to cancel an excursion for our trip embarking in two weeks. Usually, I just wait and do it on the trip, where they credit my on board account and I use it to pay for gratuities at the end. But this excursion is more expensive than the gratuities. So I don’t know because we have never had a surplus at the end of a trip. Do they just credit it to our credit card? I don’t want to be running around trying to buy things we don’t need. And our cruise is so port intensive I really don’t have any days for extra spa treatments. Should I just cancel now, I wonder? I paid by ACH draft, so I guess the refund would go to my bank? Any opinions? I have one more week until MVJ closes.
  3. Interesting. We leave 8 days later, and the documents say departure from Greenwich at 2 pm. Quite different tides I guess. I’m getting excited too. Just got packed for luggage forward pick up this week.
  4. Never. Sometimes after booking, we will see the price go up, but we are always locked in at what we bought it for.
  5. Thank you, thank you. I believe I’ve got it now. I thought we might have knock on the Chief Engineer’s door when we boarded the ship to get help.
  6. Here is a photo of what I’ve got. On the left, my iPhone 15 cord, with same size plugs, and on the right my older iPad’s cord with two different size plugs. Will the old one work? Problem is, we have three older devices. Exactly what part of this doesn’t work? The cord or the charger, and why won’t it work. And what about people who didn’t read Jim’s post and just go to the ship with whatever they have? Sorry to be so dense.
  7. I’m wondering if is the difference in the new charging cord for my iPhone 15 and my old iPhone 8? They aren’t the same and they aren’t interchangeable.
  8. Oh, oh. We are on Neptune in three weeks and I don’t really know what this means.
  9. We are taking our first River cruise this fall on one of the typical Longships. 190 pax 53 crew.

    The beds!

OMG,I hate the beds, so hard. Give me a back ache. My husband loves the beds. He hates the pillow top at home. We travel a lot on Viking, so I guess it evens out, lol.
  11. We have this same pic from the observatory at the end of the 2019 WC.
  12. Boy oh boy, Linda, so scary. Glad we are doing British Isles Explorer and Rhine the rest of this year.
  13. And we use Aardvark—“Aardy”. Recommended by AARP, we have used them for years. Again, they are a broker, and you can compare insurance policies online. Their agents are just so helpful!
  14. Unlike others here, mine adds the credit upon making final payment 6 months out. That way I can use it toward shore ex.
  15. Hi Dee. We are a week behind you, arriving in London May 6 and embarking the 9th.
  16. Go check again quickly. I just checked, and it is showing two left! EDIT. Sorry, thought this was posted on my particular roll call. So I have no idea about what you might see on yours.
  17. You are missing my point. Which is that Hilo during that time frame either has a usable port or it didn’t. I know that things change. But to change and then chance back without explanation is just plain not honest. Look, I have been on a lot of VO cruises, including a WC. I know things change, I am good with that. But this is just plain not honest!
  18. This happened to us twice on our Hawaiian sojourn cruise last month. About a year out, they said we had to skip Hilo because of “dock issues.” So we got two days in Honolulu instead. OK. Well then a couple of months before the cruise, we got a notice that we would not be going to Kauai because they couldn’t get sufficient shore ex. Instead we would be going to Hilo. Viking’s veracity is in question I think.
  19. I think many who travel with Viking are long past thinking of cruises as vacations, although they may have a budget. Once retired, we just travel, hopefully not at peak times. Do we have a budget, sure, but in retirement, we have determined what is most important to us. It is traveling. We have 8 VO cruises under our belts, with three more and a river trip coming up. Viking must be doing something right.
  20. I’d like to,”like” this three times. Yes! We are coming to the end of our big travel years, and Viking just fits us so well.
  21. I hate to admit this, but I do the same thing. After a WC and 7 other VO cruises, and usually in the same room. My husband now just automatically says “turn right” when the door opens.
  22. Yes, yes, yes. I am directionally challenged. I am going to stop talking on this topic…
  23. Just for fun, here is the “official” explanation.
