  1. We were on Magic until yesterday. I think we passed Humberto in the night when It was a Trop Depression, I open curtains and watched the lightning strikes on the water in the distance for 90 mins.
  2. I forgot to include the hair dryer that shorted out and shocked my wife. We didnt call maintenance for the shower but did for the dryer. The repairman who came tried to fix it but sparks were shooting out of it, it was quickly replaced. Stuff happens and we try not to sweat the small stuff. It was still a much better week than working back home! (We are on Paradise end of year, methinks we are gonna miss the luxurious Magic. 😁)
  3. I love people watching on cruises and folks on the 9/8 Magic were the best behaved bunch I've seen in years. There were only a few ME FIRST and LOOK AT ME folks. I did just miss a couple fellas get the 24 hour cabin quarantine for bad behavior, allegedly harassing a woman. My wife caught the tail end of it. I saw the "police tape" on their deck 0 room after boarding from 1st port. Dumbsh*ts.
  4. I had no issues this past week, app was flawless.
  5. Definitely no sports bar. The Casino bar was NFL central on Thurs/Mon night and all Sunday. Lots of folks wearing hometown jerseys.
  6. I didn't see that on schedule but it's possible I might have overlooked it, just had to Google to see what Quest was. Ha.
  7. I'm on a flight typing on cel so original post will be somewhat short and sweet, I'll provide more detail as requested. THE GOOD *all staff were 100% delightful. A+ experience. Our room steward knew our names 1st morning. So did casino bar staff (after I spent a couple hours watching NFL and seeing my team Bungle a win into a loss). Alchemy bartenders were top notch. *loved Fieri Pig and Burger. Pirate pizza. *CD Simon London was fantastic, especially at 80s dance party thing at Lobby bar. *cabin. Seemed to have a bit more storage than most balcony cabins we have had. *casino slots. Seem to have upgraded machines to flashier units, some even popular in vegas. (Buffalo, Heidi beer Haus, Monty python, etc). Wife won $300 last night. I failed to get a single bonus rd in 5 nights trying. Ha. *guest camaraderie. I met strangers daily who were either fun to interact with for fairly extended timeframes. Good on ya fellow passengers, way to be fun! THE UGLY *Buffet selection. I was stunned at how few options there were in the buffet, like barely more than a handful of choices. I'm coming off a run of NCL cruises where there were daily Chinese station, fresh Italian station, Indian station, American grill station and regular american entrees and a plethora of side. Carnival also lacked many side dishes especially vegetables (outside of salad bar) *breakfast buffet setup caused gridlock. Slooooooooooow moving line due to inattentive bacon distribution, good stuff at end of the buffet and had to be handed to guests. Often attendee would be inattentive or flat out disappear causing further delay. Egad, it was not good in my book. *in room shower. Overflowed daily, even with under 3 minute showers. Bah humbug! *disembarkation. First, heat in room engaged morning of departure. Foggy mirrors and eyeglasses. Condensation on anythi g metal. Then, gangway closed for about 30 minutes due to massive line. But hey, shat happens. Wasnt ugly at all, just long and tedious compared to previous exits.
  8. Room was frosty except for our floor required hallway fans one day, entire floor was warm and muggy. Then after we got back to Port Everglades hot air was blowing in room. Mirrows and eyeglasses fogged up, all metal features had condensation on them until we hurriedly checked out of room. D- experience here too, Carnival.
  9. never seen this detailed info in shower before. Sadly, shower drain was less than optimal and we had only 2-3 minutes, literally, before shower overflowed. Dang it! D- for Carnival in this category.
  10. This waa my wife's favorite stairwell artwork. There are different painting in between each floor when taking the stairs. Try to find which one is your fave!
  11. Hilton Marina. I enjoyed the property.
  12. Great question. Wouldn't one game take up huge chunk of available wifi? On ncl I know it was based on minutes, not data used. I'd assume streaming would be slow and spotty? Sorry I'm not more help. I'm on Magic later today and can ask....BUT we just changed carriers (and changed back day later, long story) and I'm only getting data access via WiFi due to unforeseen network issues after re-establishing account. (Off topic: SPECTRUM mobile sucks arse!!!)
  13. I've heard folks rave about it. I think you are set! It's not in my sweet spot but I sure see why it's attractive to others. Hope you have the time of your life.
  14. Sooooo....As the sun came up it showed the Magic has been docked the entire time. Whoopsie daisy!
  15. Welp...it looks better in person. Ha! I hope to add a few photos of considerably higher quality from the next 6 nights onboard the Magic. The plan is to find one unique or quickly photo per day spent onboard.
  16. It's been a long time since I've been awake to see a cruise ship arrive into port for her disembarkation/embarkation day. But we arrived in FLL yesterday and stayed at hotel overlooking Port Everglades. I have a slice of leftover pizza and a cup of made in room coffee in hand. The AC in the room is crisp and when I open door to the balcony my glasses instantly fog up. The Magic has been stationary outside port for an hour. Let's fire up this phones' highly regarded camera for a peek!
  17. i'll be darned. I hadn't heard since we booked cruise under wife's email since she's platinum. I don't mind Nassau and I love the entry/exit from the port.
  18. Say what? I'm on the same cruise, hadn't heard the itinerary change. That said, I'm a Margaritaville fanatic and now i'll visit three locations in 7 nights!
  19. Mahogany - google Little French Key...it's been one of my favorite excursions ever. Cozumel - we're headed there end of year and im looking at something via resortforaday website. The resorts on Cozumel don't compare super well with their counterparts on the mainland but I still like the island. Costa Maya - we went to the famous place whose name I cant remember owned by an ex-pat. got a bucket of beers, some chips and guac and stayed in the ocean most of the time.
  20. we used a great one last year and I cant remember their name. i'll try to crunch my memory. I think I went on tripadvisor Orlando forum regarding MCO shuttle. maybe it was here. that said, I typed a one line memo on the reservation form stating I'd loooooooove to listen to Radio Margaritaville on the ride IF they had Sirius XM radio. turns out they did and they had it pre-tuned to the station!
  21. this is great news. I didn't even think about not dealing with lines or waiting! not taking into context supply and demand we kinda "overpaid" for a week after Xmas cruise, at least compared to what we've booked historically. (our eldest son is getting married and being called to Guantanamo next year...so we're splurging on one last family blast.)
  22. you can see by my signature who I've cruised with. Carnival is usually the most cost effective and get the biggest bang for the buck. Tons of itineraries, they seem to go more places than the competitors. Cabins are pretty much the same as the other two lines, I don't notice a difference. Love Guy's burgers and the Dive In Movies and the amount of trivia. seem to have more activities at sea than the others. NCL is probably a step up for most. I love their Free At Sea promotion and the specialty dining. do NOT sail on ncl and you're moderate or more drinkers without the drink package. They have the priciest drinks at sea. I like their buffet best and their entertainment is a notch above Carnival. MSC is a player on best rate sometimes. They're bringing a ton of new ships to USA next several years. I found their entertainment to be almost as good as NCL. Their MDR is slooooooooooooooow, like almost 2 hour service slow. some folks don't like the international vibe onboard (ship's announcements are done is 4 languages) but I really dug it. Since they're an Italian Co they're well known for a vast array of pizza options on buffet and their Italian cuisine.
  23. I would imagine the art auction drives income to Carnival from Park West. I am fascinated by the auctions and the amount of pieces certain individuals purchase. I go at least once a cruise. I know many hotels offer discounts for days housekeeping isn't requested, but I doubt cruise lines will adopt that practice due to the size of the cabins. I know I appreciate when the cabin is tidied up! one of the more wasteful things onboard is plastic water bottles. I do love them, however. I wonder if someone will adopt the cardboard packaging ive seen at some grocery stores for "bottled" water.
  24. I wanted to ask folks on the board about their experience sailing on Carnival's smallest ship class, Fantasy, after getting accustomed to the bigger ships in the fleet. We are sailing on the Paradise the last week of the year. 2 in our party are making their maiden voyage and won't know any difference. The other 2 in our party have only sailed once (on MSC Divina) so I wonder if they will really "feel" a difference. Personally, the only negative for me is not have a video screen on lido deck for Dive In movies. I'm going to miss that! Thoughts?
  25. correct. we did that on Epic 11 nt, got credit for 22. and drink package, internet package, 4 specialty dinners and $50 per port excursion credit. that's tough to beat.
