  1. You are right on about that---very well said. My daughter is trying so hard to get her 17 year old to understand that. She is making mask kits for others to sew by the thousands, but he doesn't understand volunteering for the good of others. I think she is a "Professional volunteer" all year round, but he doesn't get it and he can sew beautifully. She keeps trying; of course his close grandparents aren't there during this distancing. We can only hope this terrible thing for our world can go away. Yes, it disappointed me to cancel with my dear friend, but we do understand the reasoning and the necessity for all to stay safe and healthy. Safe travels in the future for you. Stay healthy.
  2. I did too. About made ME cry when I saw the CEO speak. I have to think also of all the seniors kids who are missing their last days with their friends, graduations, awards nights, sports awards, musical performances. Although I'm not there yet, I feel for those kids--I was a teacher once and have grandchildren almost there.
  3. Just checked the website and all cruises are cancelled through June 😥 I would have thought they would have sent emails to the booked cruisers.
  4. I just came through there about 2 hours ago. New road is going to be nice. A bit of a jam but not bad. Jusrbrcareful about the mode of transpo. You will be fine. I thought it would e worse than it was.
  5. I am sitting here looking out the window and security put away a wheel chair. It was located at the end of the walk from the ship. It was before you walk thru the shopping area. when you go through the shopping center and turn left to go up the hill there are quite a few stairs. Then you go down and the tour guides are right at the bottom. Our guide brought us right back to the shopping center after which was nice.
  6. Wow. Thanks for asking that. I’m concerned about my husband. We only have 30 min after ship docks to get there. Wish I knew how big an incline it was. Hope you get a good answer.
  7. I am not familiar with that one as this is my first time in Roatan, too---in 10 days. But I was looking up something there (without sloths, too) and located some ideas on Viator and Trip Advisor. Go to Trip Advisor and put in the Roatanecortour and see if any reviews come up.Good luck.
  8. Thanks. I am a fast walker; husband not so much. How long does it take to disembark that big of a ship? We are used to the Pacific Princess size!!! (<1000). The tour leaves 30 minutes after the ship docks, they say and I am wondering if I need to change the time to later. It leaves at 9:30 local time. Ship gets in at 9.
  9. What is the best time of day to take a glass bottom boat tour?
  10. We will be on the Princess Sky. How long does it take to walk from the pier up to where the independent tours are? The map shows quite a path. Don't know how much time to allow from disembarking. How much time does it take to get off the ship? Does it dock on time for the most part?
  11. Hi Bob, For some reason I have not been getting your posts this week in my email--evening though it says I am "following them." So I thought your mishap in Ft. Lauderdale had you sidelined. Sorry to hear about Holli, though. That is a bummer. Thanks for the update on the local/ship time. I know you just walked around Mahogany Bay, but did you happen to go up to the road and beyond the checkpoint to where the independent tours start? I would like to know how long it would take with the incline. I'm fine with it, but my husband doesn't think he can go quickly up the incline to meet the tour. So I may need to change it to another time around noon. (But he's afraid he will miss a meal. LOL) If you might remember, he just wants to stay on the ship--so unlike us in our many world adventures--but......... Your pictures are stunning. Hope our skies are that beautiful. Just hoping to get some beautiful WARM sun! Today it was 23 here with schools either on a delay or closed due to snow. Took me 40 min. to make a 20 minute trip.
  12. Question for arrival in Roatan tomorrow. Would you please give me information as to your time of arrival in Roatan. I have an independent excursion, ages ago, for February 18 that starts at 9:30 am LOCAL time or 10:30 am SHIP time. It has been my experience that we go by local time while in port(those little cards they put on our beds at night!!). But 10:00 arrival is listed on the itinerary. Called Princess and they said 10:00 local time--if so I need to reschedule my cruise. Called the Shore Excursion company and they said it would be 9:30 local time. So I would like some information from you on the Sky Princess. What time is it docking in Roatan--- 10:00 local or ship? How long does it take to get from the ship, through the shopping (no stops!), center and up the hill to where the independent tours leave from. ("Past the 2 story red roof building--to the street--left up the hillhrt ought the security gates---and then another 100 yards to the taxi's and tour signs. Allow a minimum of 15 minutes to make this walk.") If the ship docks at 10, can the hoards of people get off and we make it in 30 minutes? Do they let Elite and ships tours off first---we are Platinum? Bob, maybe you are still hobbling from your fall and your speed would be comparable to ours!!! Although we're not bad!!! We can book a 12:00 and 1:30 tour if that might be safer--right now they have vacancies, I think. Thanks. Rena
  13. Thanks......that's been my perception too. So will need to call the tour company in the AM. They knew when the ship would be in so don't understand why they gave me a tour time 30 minutes before the arrival time!! (Unless the Princess itinerary time is ship time). Who knows............... I'll call both tomorrow.
  14. Thanks. Just showed my ignorance as I didn't know that shop was on this ship. Thought you went dockside at one of the shops there. My husband "escorts me right on by" those places!!! LOL Rena
  15. I don't understand how the Medallion would have any effect on purchases you made ashore. Guess I'm clueless. This is the first time on Medallion--getting my feet wet-- for the Crown in June.
  16. No problem. We are doing B2B and didn't think about that when I asked you the question. The screen shot is great. Looks like they use local time---which has been what all ships we have ever been on have used. If the Princess itinerary indicates 10:00 arrival (I assume local time), then my 9:30 tour (local time), will need to be changed.
  17. Thanks. Do you know if the ship used local or ship's time in Roatan.
  18. OOPS! You are too funny, but thanks for the correction! Guess I'm "stressed" because when I booked the independent excursion, I didn't read the time carefully and don't know whether the ship uses Local or Ship time in Roatan. I may need to change my time if I can't get it figured out.
  19. Thanks. We will just have to make arrangements to get off and stay off until after our little boat ride. Don't think it takes very long to get to the boarding dock so I may be being extra liberal in my time allotment.
  20. What time did you get back on the ship? I have booked a tour with Carrie B cruises (intercostal waterways) during our between cruise time. I was planning to get off the ship at 10:15, get a taxi to the Carrie B boat. That cruise leave at 11. Did you notice a any taxis in the area? We sail Feb. 15 and do B/B. Enjoying your Live Review very much. Makes me rethink about the internet package.
  21. Yeah, another Hoosier. Bet you wish you were back on the cruise! Thanks for the information. Question #2. Did the Sky use local time or Ship's time in Roatan. I have an independent tour starting at 9:30 AM Local Time or 10:30 AM Ship Time. On the Sky itinerary we are in port from 10-6. I don't know whether to book at a later time to be sure or ................ The tour is with a Tour Company booked through our travel agent. They know the time the ship is in port and gave me the above times or a 1:30. I chose the morning one, not thinking more until today when I am finalizing my documents to leave on the15th. Tried calling the tour company and they are closed for the weekend. Thanks.
  22. We have never been on this big a cruise ship. Our last ones were on the HAL Prinsendam and the Pacific Princess (both less than 1000 pax.) So now we are booked on the Sky Princess and wondered if they have two places where people can go ashore to get to their independent excursions more quickly. From the looks of a diagram for Roatan, it looks like it does. Please advise. Thank you.
  23. It was in dry dock in Spring 2018. Didn't they know it then?
  24. That's a great point. I never asked. Even within the US, it seems like different cruisers have different charges for the base fee, based on when you booked, promotions, etc. etc. Hard to compare. But they may have had a lower base fee. Thanks for bringing up that point--I will never know!
