  1. The lockers, bathroom, and shower are all located at "Da Waterhole".beach bar on Mullet Bay.  You pay for the pass at the bar. Try googling it on Trip Advisor.

There is another bar, Rosie's, but I am not sure if they have bathrooms.  A new place, Kalatua, has opened since we were there last year. I am not sure which place you had in mind.  We have been going to Mullet Bay back when the bar was a cooler, the grill was a 55 gallon drum and the bathroom was a port-a-potty.  Da Waterhouse was a big improvement after the hurricane.

  2. Last month we did the 8:30 Sensations ferry over and were the only 2 people on the ferry.  Once we arrived in Spanishtown I purchased return tickets for Speedy's 3:30 trip.  To me, it was worth the extra few dollars to have more beach time.

Our taxi driver (my husband thought I hired him, I thought he hired him😮) took us to the baths and was there waiting for us when we finished at 3PM.

Not realizing that the path is now one way in we arrived at the bottom and found out that we had to walk back up to get to Devil's bay. Knowing there is no food/facilities at Devil's bay we decided to have lunch at 10 AM.  Good burgers and great bush wackers!  I did my shopping (t-shirts) and we headed back up and took the path to Devil's Bay.

Even though we were early we still hit a tour group of 20 or so people on the trail.  Slow going and husband had no interest in doing it again when we left Devil's Bay.  We just walked back up the path.

While at the beach we saw the ship excursions come and go.  No way would I want to be in that group or behind that group. They spent very little time at the beach, the groups came and left in waves.

I had a great time.  Note, there is not much shade there, my husband apparently forgot and whined but he found a shrub to sit under.  I spent over 3 hours in the water and loved every minute of it.

Thanks blue_Water, I used your advice to decide what to do that day!

  3. The waves can be rough at times.  Pay attention to the waves as you enter and exit, particulary when exiting.

My suggestion is to go to the right when entering the beach.  I think there is more of a drop off on the left side which means having to move faster when a wave is coming as you are trying to exit.

The bathroom situation is this: you can either purchase a pass for $6 (heard it includes the showers too, YMMV) or run up a bar/food bill and ask to use the restrooms.  They are locked/monitored. There are lockers that you can rent.  We have been ok leaving our stuff, plenty of cruisers around. Some reviews say the food is expensive but our experience is that it is fairly typical $18 cheesburgers/frys, $10-12 frozen drinks.  Honestly, I can't think of a single beach bar that has cheap food and drinks anymore.  Maybe in Mexico?

  4. We were on the 2/11 cruise and received the memo Sunday morning. When I first saw it I assumed it was just a reminder to fill out the survey.  Being nosy I opened it anyway, just in case it was a chance for a free cruise.😆

I haven't been on the boards in a long time, but I wanted to let you know that I am always thinking of you and hope that you and your family are safe, especially at this time.

It is so devastating to think of the impact these fanatical groups have caused to so many innocent  people.  I just can't wrap my head around how these groups have become so intolerant to any other beliefs that are not there own?

What I do know is that it makes me sad to think that you are going through this awful situation there and I just wish there was some way to help. You created this fantastic board that gave me so many hours of entertainment along with some "enrichment lessons" along the way. If only I could repay the gift.

  6. Another 30 pages to go and I will have almost caught up, almost because I'm guessing I will still be 10 pages behind.

Couple of things I wanted to say is that all the kitchen talk has been so helpful, particularly the info on the dual microwave/convection oven.  I have had the convection as part of my cheaper oven and yet I never bothered to figure it out.  I just started using it on frozen fries, lol.

Whenever we consider redoing the kitchen we hit pause and go on vacation.

This would be the reason why the kitchen still hasn't been redone, and ours is now 30 years old, and it needed a refresh 20 years ago when we moved in.

Right or wrong, I feel the same way about the news.  Andy says it’s not good to not know what’s happening in the world. My response is I’ll rely on him to let me know!  I’ll just bury my head in the sand and be more relaxed as a result.

This +1.  My husband listens to the news non-stop with it playing in the background here at work.  I have to tune it out and look over the headlines and call it a day.

It made me sad, too. This thread is not to just post happy stuff. It bothered me when I saw it so I posted it. Unfortunately, sometimes "pets" find themselves in exactly that position.

Unfortunately, this reminded me of an story I read about sometime in the past year or two.  I ran across a blip of someone leaving a dog next to a gate at some public land.  The dog was seen on a camera set up there, never wandering away, for over 8 hours until someone went and rescued it.  I just did a quick google and sadly, saw many similar stories, before I stopped looking.

I think it really hits home for me because my dog is a rescue and he was skin and bones when I got him.  Hips protruding, missing/broken teeth, and the wood shavings the rescue used down south, still stuck in his fur.  Then 4 years ago I found out he had a pellet in his neck area.  He is the sweetest dog ever and thinking of the life he had before makes me sad.  He never deserved that treatment, just like all the other pets who had the unfortune to be owned by so many irresponsible owners who think nothing of their animals.

BTW, @Sunshine3601.  I hope you like that pump.  As soon as I saw it yesterday I had one ordered.  I bought blow up noodles (six pack) about 4 years ago after a trip to Mullet beach.  My DH went and "rented" one for me at the little shack there from this pretty Dutch girl.  Not even 2 hours later, he is waving me in.  I float in and he tells me I have to return my noodle???  Apparently the shack is only open for a few hours each day.  Geeze.

Then, last month, same beach, DH is blowing up the noodle for me.  Said he thought he was going to pass out.  Since we have another family cruising with us next month I jumped on the pump.  I wouldn't want to have to spend any beach time in the hospital if DH passes out.

It was 85 degrees and the church didn't turn on their Air Conditioner until the morning of the wedding and it didn't cool for crap !!

That must have been brutal.  I sat on an airplane back in December in 85 degree heat with no ventilation sweating my butt off and I was not wearing a gown or tux.

It's 64 degrees where right now but in about 36 hours, I will be enjoying the weather you are currently having.  Not quite sure if it's going to be just a wintry mix of sleet & ice or 5-8 inches of snow.

Fingers crossed I get to play with the snowblower one more time! ✌️🌨️❄️

You are more than welcome to take a side trip to RI to tackle a few houses.  I'm sure none of us @Momof3gurlz@Ocean Boywould mind a bit.  Heck, my husband would even give you the gas to run it.

    We love Rhodes!

would you believe we’re considering scrapping all our original travel plans for the fall n doing Rhodes, Symi, n Crete? 🤣

+1 for me too.  That last trip you and Nate had me thinking it wouldn't be long.  Plus you probably (fingers crossed) won't have to go through all the logistics of testing.

Speaking of drinks, has anyone tried the Lavender Lemon Drop?  Right up there with an Expresso or Chocolate Martini! Celebrity has them, not sure about RC but they go down so nicely.  Speaking of pain killers, have a bush whacker!  DH tried it for the first time a few weeks ago, he was surprised he hadn't had one before.

Congrats to all those leaving this weekend!

I'm not sure which one of the "Big Brother" apps (Google, Alexa?) was watching as I typed my post last Saturday but last night, I received my confirmation e-mail from USPS that the test kits are on the way & expected to be delivered Friday, Feb 25th.

    I guess we're in the bottom 20%.

I must be in the bottom 5%.  I ordered them on the soft opening day and they will be delivered on Saturday.

You still have a bag phone???  Not sure if I should be impressed or worried.  It actually might be worth something now.

I think my DH had one back then.  I would have tossed it myself.

I just read that some of those early iPhones and iPods are going for $24,000 to $90,000 with the original packaging.  I only have mine back to the 4.  All earlier phones are long gone.

Just a couple of weeks ago my DH, DD, and I were talking about the iPods.  DD could not believe it when DH pulled out two identical ones (complete with the lovey dovey engraving) and turned them on.   Back story was that I had given him one for Christmas and he managed to forget it in his shorts before he tossed them in.  Needless to say, it didn't work even after trying to dry it with the rice so he bought another one.  Being the hoarder that he is, he put it in the basement and, a couple years later, on a whim, he tried turning it on.  It worked so now he two more things to hang onto.

It talks about I-pods also. I have one though I don't really use it any longer.

I'm going to put it with the kid's Nintendo game boys.

Busy day here, so I will catch up later.

Good luck doing that.  I came back from my cruise 10 days ago and was "only" behind about 10 pages by Monday.  I missed yesterday and now I see I am closer to 30 pages.

Well wishes for a successful procedure.  I can not imagine having to deal with constant pain.

@Sea Dog.  I'm thinking by the time I catch up you will be walking 5 miles a day.

  11. On a brighter note, I have incredible in-laws plus the “bonus” in-laws when DH’s parents separated. I took it really hard (30 years ago) because it appeared they were so perfect together.  So unlike my parents relationship.  All holidays are spent together with both of DH’s parents at his mothers house.  Although the marriage didn’t work out the love and respect for each other is something to be admired.

  12. @Lorey2007Lucky you.  I ordered mine on Thursday, received a notice that they were being shipped and arrived in Newark on Saturday.  They were supposed to be here yesterday.  Today, status changed to "delayed, no information" and then tonight it says they are to be delivered tomorrow.  Still haven't left Newark though, they must like it there.  I'm hoping to have them by Friday. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I kind of went into a zone as if I was an unbiased third party such as a Social Worker while dealing with her issues.

Good advice.  My mother is extremely stubborn and my sister and I had to fly down there mid December when her neighbor thought she might have Covid and could use some help.  Fearing the worst, like social services getting involved, I convinced my sister that we needed to go sooner rather than later.  My mother has been planning to move back to RI.  Things got very heated at times and I tried very hard just to try to stick to the task at hand, "packing", and not thinking how selfish she is with her "I'm just fine down here" attitude, when, if you looked around, you could plainly see how she is not.  As hard as I tried, I still lost it and told her how selfish she was, keeping a large number of dogs, when she could barely take care of herself.  The kicker was that she seems to think the neighbor is just fine with taking care of the dogs when she lands in the hospital due to yet another fall.

This weekend, my sister called me on Sunday to tell me that she had been calling my mother and it kept going to voice mail.  I ended up texting the kind neighbor who stopped by to check on her.  The neighbor then sent me  a text telling me for the "most part" she was fine.  Apparently she had fallen again.  My mother called to find out why I had the neighbor check in.  After telling her we had called all weekend she told me it must be our "phones".  Her phone had no messages.  She never mentioned the fall, I'm going to leave that for my sister to work into the conversation.  She thinks we are making a big deal out of nothing.  Telling her that she could end up in a nursing home and losing all of the dogs is just us trying to upset her.  She has always been self centered and will never change.

    Rant over!

It appears we have some more fun and games to look forward to starting tomorrow.  Could you keep this stuff inside PA?  I have a flight to make on Friday and the thought of a delay is giving me shivers. I would consider flying out earlier in the day but the antigen test is that morning and my binax tests that I wanted to take with me are hanging out somewhere in Newark, NJ.

Happy to share the recipe Arzeena, I just need someone to tell me how to post a link!

Is the recipe online?  If so, open to the webpage, copy the link and then paste it in box here.  Be sure you are still logged in here first.  The way cc works lately I can't respond 10 minutes after I logged in.

So my Daughter is running around Los Angeles, staying In a Hotel room with her friends who she doesn’t live with. She’s there to see 3 concerts, Which has sold out. I am not worried for her because she’s healthy and she’s had all of her shots plus her booster.

Me I have two different types of Auto immune disorders.

I’ve got my cruise on March 6, so I’m currently building her an isolation room.

I have not had a vacation in five years and seeing Harry styles in concert is not a vacation.

she going to be surprise when I meet her at the door with a mask on And direct her to sanitize

Sure knows that I’m going to Covid test her .

    I’m going on the cruise.

My niece who will be taking care of our dogs next weekend tested positive on Monday.  I told her when she comes into the office on Monday that I will be wearing a mask.  I think I had Omnicom at Christmas but I'm not taking chances.  My husband was sick about two weeks ago on Thursday and then again yesterday.  Both times he tested negative with the rapid but will go tomorrow to have a pcr test done just to double check to see if he is sick or not.  Feels fine again today so who knows, could just be a sinus infection.  He is prone to them.

When it calmed down we went out for a walk and saw this close to home.

52 degrees sounds lovely after the cooler temps you have been having.  The wind storm doesn't sound too wonderful, particularly for the ones who have lost power.  We are keeping our fingers crossed, seems like we lose power at our home at the drop of a hat.  We do have a small generator that runs the fridge and the microwave so that we don't starve.  We can light the gas stove too!

My backup binax tests are supposed to arrive on Monday.  I am keeping my fingers crossed, ordered them Thursday and then read the thread were they were not being shipped out.  Yikes!  I still have not booked a hotel room.  I need to research that tonight or tomorrow.
