  1. Hi There! Just seeing this now so I am sorry for the late reply. A few years back we did the Celebrity Summit and the following year, the Anthem of the Seas. I LOVED Anthem! I thought it was an awesome ship with tons to do and see. Personally, I felt the celebrity ship wasn't as exciting and didn't have as much to do. We used to joke that we felt like the ship shut down at 10pm. Not sure if all Celebrity ships are like this or maybe just our sailing. I did a complete review of the Anthem of the Seas on my blog if you want to check it out here: https://thehappiesttravels.com/2019/01/11/anthem-of-the-seas-cruise-review/. At this point, I think any vacation you choose will be awesome!
  2. Same here! I always eat at Windjammer/Buffet on embarkation day! When I sailed on Anthem we went to Cafe Two70 first and then ended up at the buffet because honestly, it's the buffet and you cannot beat it.
  3. Hi! I sailed on Freedom last summer and stayed in a Junior Suite on Deck 9, room 9594. The room was huge close to everything but not too close where it would be annoying. The rooms are huge. Honestly Royal's Junior Suites are awesome because they just provide the space. I remember walking into the Junior Suite like, this could be 2 rooms. I slept on the pull out and even with that pulled out, there was still a ton of space to walk around in the room. I did notice these on the deck plan that they were being added. While they could be cool because they are new, my issue would be with the fact they are on the deck with probably the most going on. Your pool is up there, the buffet, Chops & Giovanni's and not to mention, these are right in front of the spa- like you need to walk past these to get to the spa. So while I think they would be brand new and cool, I think your noise factor would be high as that deck is highly trafficked. The rooms on the deck are the same size as other ones. I recommend a Junior Suite on Deck 9 from my experience. You are only 2 decks away from food and pool but you still have that deck between you so that you don't get the noise. Hope this helps! Sorry it's a little long! If you want to read a full review from the cruise, I have one here: https://thehappiesttravels.com/2019/07/16/freedom-of-the-seas-cruise-review/. Hope you have the best time! 🙂
  4. Hi! I've actually sailed on both the Freedom (from PR) and the Summit (from Bayonne). Personally, I enjoyed the Freedom better than the Summit. While the Summit did have very good food, I personally enjoyed the overall atmosphere and activities available on the Freedom of the Seas. The Summit had a little bit of a slower pace and seemed as if things closed a bit earlier. If that is your thing, then go for the Summit. I personally think the Freedom was a bigger ship with more to do and see. Both itineraries are really nice, I don't think you'd be missing out on anything if you did one of those itineraries over another. If you would like to read a review of the Freedom of the Seas, I have one that I wrote here to give you an idea what it's all about: https://thehappiesttravels.com/2019/07/16/freedom-of-the-seas-cruise-review/ Please feel free to let me know if you have any other questions!
  5. I loved Freedom! It was awesome and you will have a great time. If you want to see some of my recommendations in PR and on Freedom, check out my blog post here. There is also another post with dining reviews. https://thehappiesttravels.com/2019/07/16/freedom-of-the-seas-cruise-review/
  6. Hi! I sailed on Freedom over the summer! I did almost the same itinerary except we visited St. Maarten instead of St. Thomas, which is a favorite of mine. I wrote a full blog post here about all there is to do on Freedom and a review. https://thehappiesttravels.com/2019/07/16/freedom-of-the-seas-cruise-review/ In terms of ports, we only did a shore excursion in Barbados, which was Barbados Highlights. For more info about each port, my Cruise Critic review link is here and outlines each port of call in detail: https://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/memberreview.cfm?EntryID=661382&et_cid=3214772&et_rid=240825226&et_referrer=Boards%20-%20CC-US Feel free to let me know if you have other questions! I also have a blog post up about menus, etc. on Freedom! Thanks and Hope you have the best time on your cruise.
  7. Hi! Thanks for checking out my food review blog! I don't usually order my meat rare or medium rare, but the servers were more than accommodating of any requests, so I can't see why they wouldn't make any steak or tenderloin for you medium rare. Hope this helps!! 🙂
  8. Hi! I absolutely love Anthem. It's probably been one of my favorite ships that I've sailed on to date, and I've been on 19 cruises. The food was delicious, there was always something to do and the layout of the ship was great. If you want to read more about Anthem, I put a post up on my blog about it. Take a look below! Hope you definitely consider sailing on Anthem because I thought it was a great ship. I've sailed out of Cape Liberty quite a few times since I live in the area and we were on the ship fairly quickly. We usually arrive at the port by 10am so we are usually one of the first groups on. It might be a little chilly your first day but once you head to the Caribbean, you'll definitely warm up! And don't worry about those reviews... I find that sometimes the ones that have eh reviews are actually pretty awesome. Enjoy! https://thehappiesttravels.com/2019/01/11/anthem-of-the-seas-cruise-review/
  9. Hi! I've been reading up on this and it seems like this will be a pretty awesome spot on CocoCay. Kinda reminds me of Vibe on NCL where you have an exclusive area except Vibe is on the ship. According to the site, the passes are limited. Definitely sounds like it will be a beautiful spot though!
  10. Hi Everyone, Wanted to share my review of the Anthem of the Seas! I did sail a few years ago, but a lot of the topics in this review cover experiences, etc. which are still relevant. Enjoy! And let me know if you have questions! https://thehappiesttravels.com/2019/01/11/anthem-of-the-seas-cruise-review/
  11. Hi! Not sure if this will help, but I have a blog post up about Anthem of the Seas: https://thehappiesttravels.com/2019/01/11/anthem-of-the-seas-cruise-review/ I personally like the MDR on the second formal night because that's when they have the lobster/steak on the menu. When I sailed, I had My Time Dining and we were automatically assigned to American Icon. Hope this helps! 🙂
  12. Hi! I live in the area and I typically cruise out of Bayonne (but in the summer). I would suggest layers, but to definitely dress warmer on the day you get on the ship and your first and last day at sea. Of course, you'll be traveling down south on your first sea day, but keep in mind you will only be parallel with say Virginia or the Carolina's so it may still be a bit chillier than in sunny Central Florida. The same is the case on your way back/last sea day. By the time you get to your last day at sea, it will be cold since you will be parallel with New Jersey (your almost home). I see you said you are sailing on Anthem. Love that ship! Did a whole review about it on my blog here: https://thehappiesttravels.com/2019/01/11/anthem-of-the-seas-cruise-review/. Hope this info helps! 🙂
  13. We stayed at the Sheraton Convention Center and got a cab in front of the hotel to the pier. It was $15 from our hotel to the pier, including the 3 suitcases and 3 carry-on bags we had. We also took one of these cabs from the airport to the hotel and it was $15-$20 as well. Our cab drivers explained that Uber is trying to get in on the action in Puerto Rico but they are hoping people still take their cabs.
  14. Much cheaper to purchase the photo package prior to sailing. I bought the all inclusive digital package before my 7 day sailing on Freedom of the Seas and paid $199 online. It was $250 onboard. They did have a promo for $25 off the digital package, but that still comes out to more than I paid online. So I definitely saved a bit of money there by doing it early. 🙂
  15. Hi, I just sailed on Freedom last month and my dad has a CPAP machine that he brought. Don't bring an extension cord as Royal doesn't allow you to bring them and they confiscate it from you (happened to my dad when we sailed on Anthem). We called Royal about 2 weeks prior to sailing to let them know he was bringing his CPAP and that he wanted Distilled Water and an extension cord. When we arrived to our room, the distilled water was there but the extension cord wasn't. After having to visit guest services, they delivered a long extension cord to our room at around 10:30pm. We had a junior suite and the machine had to be plugged into the outlet by the vanity, on the other side of the room.
