Uber can now pick you up and drop you off at any of the hotels in the Old San Juan, Condado and Isla Verde areas. They might have designated pick-up areas so check with the hotel. You can get Uber to/from the cruise piers (again, a designated area might be involved). You can get Uber to drop you off at the airport but they can't pick you up at SJU. There has been instances that the app allows rides to be booked from SJU but they will soon cancel the ride without a charge due to the restriction.

First day on board. All the new cruisers seem to be lost still. Even I am so used to the other away class ships that I forget that the Bliss is very different. I'll be giving you all the full tour throughout the week. It's very different than any other NCL ship.

I think I'm just going to stick with the Droid for the rest of the day, and possibly the week. By the way, earlier when I had to uninstall and reinstall my browser on my Pixel II XL, I lost Facebook on that phone because I don't know the password. I change it so often that I can't possibly remember it anymore. I can still access it from the Droid due to the save feature.

Can't wait for the shenanigans on the Bliss to begin with you and your hilarious reviews and reporting! I'm a fan!!!!

  4. I'm comparing ships and prices and find the MSC site incredibly glitchy. At first, I thought it was just my laptop, but after hearing others thoughts, glad it's just not me:)

I'm finding some good prices for the YC compared to The Haven and plan on booking with MSC soon. Excited to experience a new line.

    Happy sailing everyone!

  5. They advertise in Eastern Time because the Cayman Islands are on Eastern Time year around. They do not observe daylight savings time.

So, while the US is on standard time, the Caymans will be on the same time as the eastern time zone (EST). During daylight savings time, they will be on the same time as the central time zone (CDT).

So -- the answer to your question is "it depends". It depends on what time of year you are travelling to the Caymans. It depends on what port you are leaving from. And, finally, it depends on what ship you are on (not all ships maintain "ship time" throughout the cruise).

Thank you for clarifying this for me Pops!

I am traveling at the end of this month out of Port Canaveral on NCL Epic.

I will research it out. Very helpful.

    Thanks again:)

  6. Sounds like Cinnamon Bay. Unfortunately, the campground was destroyed by Irmaria, but the beach is still beautiful, albeit with much shade due to the downed tress.

Thank you GMoney. That makes me so sad. Just think how many years it takes to create such a beautiful place, and then it's destroyed so quickly. Mother Nature can be brutal!

    Thanks again for your help:):)

  7. For those of you who know St. Johns, well, we took a boat over to St John's from St. Thomas a few years ago. We did a walking tour of the town with the Captain's crew. We visited the gorgeous library and a government officials home.

We then were on our own and went to one of the North facing beaches. It had a beautiful campground with a canopy of lush green foilage. We walked through that area to get to the beach. There was a small, tall green Island right in front of this beach, probably about a mile or so out in the ocean. It was so beautiful and I want to go back there next January.

Does anyone recognize this place? Much appreciated:):)

  8. We are traveling next month. We were going to one of the All Inclusive day resorts and we have changed our minds. Stepping outside of the Falmouth gates and walking the few minutes to meet our ride is too dangerous in my opinion.

There is a MargaritaVille in port and we might go to the pool there, but honestly, I have heard reports on this site that didn't make me feel safe, so we will play it by ear. Staying on the ship sounds like a great idea to me:):)

    Safe travels everyone!!!

  9. Virtually everybody will pick you at the airport and drop you at the beach hotels until late at night. As long as you are willing to pay their quote it will not be a problem. These are all PRIVATE transports unless you use a hotel shuttle from one of very few hotels that actually do this; in which case they may group some of you together if you are all arriving at about the same time.

However, the cheaper SHARED SHUTTLES only run during peak hours mostly on cruise day mornings.

I am surprised that you cannot find PRIVATE transport after 4pm, or are you looking for a SHARED SHUTTLE?

As I have searched more, I have found more options. I was going to stay in Orlando but then heard about traffic nightmares. Thought it would be great to have the beach feel so I booked the Sheraton 4 Point Hotel in Cocoa Beach.

It seems to me that Uber is not that much more expensive and I will not have to worry about the shuttle being full and having to wait for the next one

Thanks everyone for all of your help! I think I have found the best option for us:):)

  10. Is Uber available from Orlando Hotels to PC? We are coming in the night before and our flight gets in after 4:00 pm. I have not been able to find a shuttle service that takes us to the Cocoa Beach area that late. We are thinking of staying in Orlando and using an Uber, or staying at the hotel at the Airport and take the Bug Bus the next morning to port. Any advise would be well taken. Thanks:)

  11. Yesterday marked 89 days from my cruise on the Epic, so I booked the 2 major theatre shows. Or at least I thought I did. I selected dates and times and they went to my cart. As both are comp, I received no pay confirmation or checking out screen. When I check my vacation summary, no bookings are showing. Should there have been a checkout step which never appeared? I have repeated the steps with no success. Anyone been there?

I did the same thing Maplemoose, the first time I booked. You add them into your cart, then you need to finish the process to complete the purchase, even if they are complementary...:)

  12. So, back to bid upgrades..... Has anyone received their upgrade on the 12/3 Getaway sailing?

Comments were posted that quite a few balcony cabins were awarded a couple of weeks ago. Thursday or Friday one poster said he was awarded the DOS from an Aft Penthouse. Cabins are becoming "Not available" then "Sold out", then back to available again. I haven't seen any additional activity and the same 5 Haven Suites are left!

I'm doing all I can to figure this system out. Each and every cruise is definitely different!

Happy cruising everyone:) Hope you get your upgrades!

  13. We are just off the Escape in the Haven. There were areas with full sun when it was open. Some days we went to the private deck on 19. My young adult son missed the action at the pool area however. This was my first NCL experience so I can't compare to other rooms. The Haven restaurant was convenient but the menu stayed the same. We actually ate in all of the different dining rooms for dinner but most of our breakfast meals came from the Haven Restaurant.

Sounds like lots of options! That's fantastic!! You must of had a great cruise:)
