  1. I appreciate knowing about Princess and the accounts being the same number. (Does that mean if I sail Princess again, I will be at the higher level?) BUT that is NO excuse for the confusion by a company this size. They are not 3rd graders running a fund-raising event; for that I can accept confusion, but NOT from Cunard -- who is touting they have been in the business how long?
  2. So, is the solution to simply “cancel” cruising? Shall we all give into a virus and stop living? Be Calm! And Press On!!!! So some really think crew would prefer to stay home and not work because of wearing a mask? The shortage is more complicated than and WELL above the viral fear. Upper level crew members seeking to move on has been happening for over a CENTURY. A cruise line can honestly survive a ship director leaving (regardless of ship division). In all of my cruising, it has NEVER been influenced by a particular ship director. It is the everyday staff we encounter who make our cruise special and memorable — and they need and want a job! So stop cruising, give into the virus and the fear, and deny the average crew member a valuable job that supports not only themselves, but also their families at home.
  3. Amazing: Today I email Cunard World Club requesting information about my upcoming “rise” in status, and I received a response which started, “ Your Princess Captain’s Circle Membership“ Princess? Princess? Is this the start of the slow slide into the abyss?
  4. Outdoor pool closed because of the weather (too cold)?
  5. Has the Pavilion Pool reopened? (In earlier posts, it was shared that is was closed due to mechanical issues.) Also, is the Spa still adhering to the 2 hour sessions, spaced throughout the day?
  6. Finally, a breath of the 21st century has finally reached Cunard!
  7. And -- WOW! -- the prices for solo travel on all of the voyages I have looked at so far a sky high. And the fact that a new ship is not offering SOLO specific cabins is showing Cunard is really not following with the times. For a ship this size, and the fact that I am paying top dollar for drinks and top dollar for accommodations, means that I may just have to change who I am sailing with!
  8. I fully agree with your statements, especially in reference to "poor planning." Perhaps before selling cabins to more full capacity, they should have taken into consideration isolation cabins, and not have sold them!! And I was a Crystal cruiser, but, as you said, "We all know where Crystal is now..." Crystal was down to only 3 ocean vessels, and Cunard is also only 3 ships away from a similar demise (4, if you count the yet to sail ship that another line could easily rename and rebrand).
  9. Sorry you experienced such isolation. I have never, EVER experienced this as a solo male passenger (even during COVID times), and I have sailed solo many times on different lines.
  10. A couple of points on this subject of walking through rooms/locations ( caused by Cunard's construction and planning of the QM2 deck layouts) and offending people: 1) Once on the QM2 my friend and I began a walk up the staircase from Deck 8, Pool Terrance. We were headed to the kennels, and were informed by staff that the staircase would get us there. Well, we did not realize that the STEEP outside stairs would not stop on Deck 9, nor on Deck 10. Only until Deck 11 was there a chance of respite and catching ones breath. Even though I was younger then, I needed to stop for a minute or two -- on the stairwell landing -- to catch my breath. Unknown to us, we were now on Deck 11, the Queen's Grill Terrace. While panting to regain our ability to walk up the next steep staircase to Deck 12 (and the kennels), we were approached by a passenger (male) dressed to the teeth at 2 in the afternoon who rerated us, saying "How dare you stop. This is for Grill passengers only. If you don't move off, I will have you removed!" Really? As we stood panting (and only for a couple of minute) I noticed it was sprinkling rain, or so I thought. We rushed off the forbidden deck and arrived on Deck 12, to see the kennel staff spraying down the deck just outside the kennels; apparently a dog had done its business and they were washing it down -- causing the "light rain" on the head of the gentleman who clearly protected his territory and expected class separation. 2) In order for someone with a disability to access the Pool Terrance, they must pass through the Veranda Restaurant. This we had to do many times when my mother (who used a wheel chair all the time) want to attend a sail away party or to sit in the sun by the pool. The only other access would have been up the long indoor staircase from the deck below or to miraculously pass through walls without entering the restaurant. 3) Another difficult walkthrough is on formal nights through the Queen's Room (passengers dressed to the hilt) to G32 in relaxed clothes. Make an awkward meeting of the eyes in the Queen's Room.
  11. Be prepared to buy your frozen meals before boarding! lol
  12. Such elegance and luxury, especially from Cunard. Perhaps they will send us coupons in the future for ready-made, packaged meals, which we would eat in place of dining — even further saving Cunard money!
  13. Does anyone know what is happening to the Queen Elizabeth after she sails in Oct. 2023? There is nothing listed on the Cunard website or other booking sites for cruises after October. Dry dock? Is she leaving the fleet? (And does anyone know any of the cruise offerings for the Queen Anne?)
  14. Hi, All. It has been a few years since I last sailed Cunard, specifically the QM2. Currently, does anyone know the price of the 7 day spa pass? Also, has the spa been upgraded or it is still somewhat functioning. (Last time onboard, 2016, some of the amenities were not working.) Thanks!
  15. Hi. Does anyone have any pics of current bar prices on the QM2 (or other Cunard ships, as I am hoping their prices are similar)?
