  1. Will be interested to see what you thought of Triptonic, saw them once and then avoided them on our next two cruises, personal choice of course😃
  2. Good prices yes, however if my reading of it is correct there are no overnight stays?
  3. Thanks for all your replies, we could see you on the onward but were unable to make out if you were going on excursions , we were told two weeks prior to arriving that all our trips would be cancelled and nobody would be allowed off the ship (we were due to stay for two days). a few stalls were set up within a tight zone around the ship to buy souvenir's. Kudos to your captain for sorting out your port arrangements, having sailed with Azamara it did not surprise us 🙂
  4. Just come off the 65 night cruise and the Aurora is indeed a grand old lady, cabins very slightly dated but everything else is in great condition , plenty of spaces for sitting, eating, sunbathing ,never a fight for space in the horizon and very rare to require pagers for freedom dining(only towards the last week),and ALL the staff were beyond marvelous. Back on her again in January 2025 for the 65 nighter, just wish she was doing our 2024 world cruise
  5. Just enquiring if anybody was on the Onward in February and managed any shore excursions whilst in Lima or was it just embarkation/disembarkation?. I am just curious as we were there at the same time and were not allowed off the ship and only docked to re-supply
  6. But suspect the many who have only sailed on "the older boats" would not class them as sailing vessels but cruise ships🤨
  7. Sailed on many ships of various sizes and ages, never sailed on a BOAT though
  8. Very impressed with Azamara, yes they do cost more but it certainly shows 🙂
  9. I tend to agree with the entertainment view, the first show we went to was not so good, but others were better, we did have piped music on the upper sun deck but by other ships standards it was very low volume and if people around were talking it was inaudible, on the other side of the coin on another cruise line we , and many others had to vacate the pool/sundeck when the band came on at lunchtime as they were just so awful and far too loud. We will sail with Azamara again however it will be no longer than 14 nights as we both agreed that due to the size of the ship evening variation would be used up in that length of time. We regularly go away for longer spells and having had two five-week, a four week and three upcoming of sixty, a one hundred and a sixty-five night feel the larger ships give more options, of course with the bigger ships come the downside of lesser personal space and less personal service
  10. In all fairness, and the point I was alluding to was that the matre d was simply applying the rules and stuck to their guns regardless of what the unacceptable items of clothing were IE shorts, torn denim baseball caps etc . Would love to have that matra d on some of our other cruises
  11. In all fairness we had the same boarding issues with Celebrity, but at least it was outdoors in the California sunshine whereas this one was in a very chilly air-conditioned building
  12. For info only and NOT an opinion, we have just returned from a cruise with Azamara and their dress code is smart casual, apart from the white night (which is optional), one evening a party of eight were in front of us waiting for the Matre d to book them a table, she noticed that a lady in the party was wearing a smart matching top and shorts which at first glance looked like a short skirt, she advised the lady she would have to change or eat elsewhere but the rest of the party would be allowed in, after a heated discussion the lady had to change and the rest of the party waited in the bar until she returned and all were then allowed to dine in the mdr. We witnessed another similar incident and it ended with the same result
  13. Thank you, we did indeed enjoy the whole experience😊
  14. We have just returned from our first cruise with Azamara on the Quest (world cup voyage) and here is a quick review of the experience. Firstly, the ship was well turned out and all areas were tidy and well kept, our cabin was very nice, but the shower was one of the smallest we have had (not a complaint just an observation), for a day or so it took some getting used to the size of the ship having never sailed on anything less than 1800 pax, but the ability to move around without congestion was wonderful , although we tend to keep to ourselves everybody was very friendly ,allowing for the fact there were 27 different nationalities on board , service at all the bars was really good with very little wait time and staff calling back to check if another drink was required, food choices were plentiful and we never had one bad meal and again service was top drawer. We never got the chance to use the two specialty restaurants so unable to comment on them. We decided against the azamazing evening trip and from comments from those who went we made the correct decision; however, the white night was brilliant, the staff worked so hard to set it up and then keep it flowing and deserve all the credit for a fabulous night. Only two negatives to mention and not sure if one of them is just "a one off" checking in/embarkation was so long winded, for such a small ship it took forever for check in to be completed even though we had done all the precheck in prior to flying out, there were plenty of staff, but nothing seemed to be happening, the other small downside was the timing of the evening show , 9pm was virtually impossible to get to without having to eat rather early , 9.30 would be a better time but again that is a personal view. So, our first time with Azamara and we loved it!! ALL the staff were so, so friendly and helpful and gave us a wonderful impression of the company, will we be back? Yes, but it will have to wait as we have cruises booked right through to 2025 as well as land-based holidays with very little gaps to work with, the worry is that some of the future cruises will, without doubt struggle to match what we have experienced on the Quest
